Ulfarr knows this moment is an important one. The look of the sky at dawn foretells the day, and wise folk know how to read those clouds and colors. It pains him to turn back, but his reunion will have to wait. It will give him more time to contemplate what he will say. This last thought almost makes him rush forward, to avoid that torture.
