>>>"Ah, crap..." Wrecker slapped his knees and got up to follow Shockwave into the cell. "Yeah, I'm fine. You okay?" he checked in with Mimic, trying to take in the situation as quickly as he could.
>>>"No need to get hostile, there Thunderclap... We just want to understand why all of this is important enough for all this chaos. "
Sep 28, 2024 1:29 pm
The teenager struggled back to his feet, after being tossed by Mimic like a rag doll. He was only human, and no match for the two superheroes. Begging for them to listen to his story was his only option:

"That monster" he pointed at the man behind the bulletproof glass "murdered my mother. He snapped her neck like a twig" the boy took a deep breath to calm himself, his fingers rolling into a fist "He killed so many people, and they have him here, locked up, instead of giving him the electric chair. Someone has to do something about him"

And by something, he meant, snuffing the villain's life "You have any idea how many prisons that man escaped from? Why are they taking a chance with him?!?!"
Sep 28, 2024 1:31 pm
"Don't worry, little man. I will do something about him"
Ignoring both Mimic and Wrecker, Shockwave lifted his hands and pointed them at the man behind the glass, charging up his most powerful blast yet.
Sep 28, 2024 1:34 pm
The villain's limbs were encased in titanium. There was nothing he could do to escape the blast. Yet, he only smiled sardonically as he watched the four behind the bulletproof glass.

What do you do?

Wrecker hadn't been paying too much attention to the inmate in the cell, his attention being focused on Shockwave, Mimic and the unknown teenager. As soon as the unknown teen aired his grievance and pointed at the man being held in the cell, the world sort of just stopped for a moment...held in a sort of timeless expanse.

>>>A thousand emotions warred inside Wrecker's mind during that timeless pause in the universe. Randall Ryckowski was a convicted criminal, thief, opportunist, murderer and who knows what else...but he was also Ronnie's father. No matter how Ronnie felt about his father, in as much as he even knew then man, he couldn't let this teenager just murder someone.
"No." Wrecker interposed himself between Shockwave and the senior Wrecker. "Killing isn't the answer. Believe me, I know how bad this guy is but murdering him isn't going to bring anyone back or right any wrong he's done.". He looked right at Shockwave, "You said you never killed anyone that didn't deserve it...
This guy may deserve it but how many people think the same about you? Under different circumstances, that could be you up there and someone else where you're standing."
OOC:
There's only one Move he could possibly make if Shockwave fires... throw himself in front of the blast.
Not sure if that falls under Take a Powerful Blow or Defend Someone. But currently, he's trying to de-escalate the situation. Not sure what move that falls under, though.

Oh great. Both of them seemed pretty determined. Her personal feelings on the death penalty didn't matter. She hadn't been on that jury. She's not even old enough to be called in for jury duty. They seem to be really caught up in this guy escaping other jails.."And if you can't kill him, and he escapes?" If she wanted revenge, what would argue her out of it.."Besides, wouldn't getting a long drawn out punishment like being locked up like that be better revenge than something quick like death?"
Sep 29, 2024 7:19 pm
"She has a point, kid" Shockwave lowered his arms, the build up of energy that caused their hair to rise began to subside "Look at him" he pointed at the caged man "Imagine spending the rest of your life like that. Not able to wipe your own butt. Or scratch your nose. Nothing to do but stare blankly into space. Killing him would be doing him a favor"
Sep 29, 2024 7:27 pm
Although Shockwave was pointing right at the villain encased in metal, he was too engrossed in conversation with the teen to notice the small crack forming on the titanium wrapping the convict's arm. That tiny crack quickly grew into a fault line, a fissure snaking up the metal casing.
Oct 1, 2024 2:21 am
Wrecker breathed a sigh of relief as Shockwave stood down. "I don't think things are gonna go well for you, My Dude. Not with causing all this chaos and damage." he looked at the kid behind Mimic. "Where'd you come up with the cash to pay ol' ThunderClap, here, to break you into this place? And what were you doing with that computer, huh?" Kid must be some kinda Trust Fund baby to afford all that AND have the Intelligence resources to pull this off. Not just anybody can break into Riker's alone a whim...
OOC:
The Move here is Pierce the Mask, I'm guessing, to figure out how to get him to Spill the Tea on how all this cane about. (+Mundane)

Edit: that went terribly...

"I was going to fry that @!$%er" The teenager looked behind the Wrecker's shoulder at the computer monitor. If he could just find a way to distract him, he could hit the kill switch - the fail-safe measure they put in place in case the supervillain tried to escape "Shockwave. I paid you to do this job" the teenager stomped his feet in frustration "Why are you talking with them?!?!?"
Oct 1, 2024 1:33 pm
"Kid; you might have paid me, but you don't owe me" Shockwave stopped to consider what was the best course of action. On the one hand, there was a lot of money at stake, and the supervillain did deserve to die if anyone ever did. On the other hand, he would have to fight the two superheroes, and though he was pretty confident in his abilities, he had no idea what they were capable of. Decisions decisions... "Lets go, little man. We can always try some other time"
OOC:
@witchdoctor - tell me what it would take for you to let Shockwave and the teenager leave without hindering them.

Metal screeched violently when the metal prison that had confined the Wrecker for far too long finally succumbed to his brute strength. Flexing his massive muscles, he tore apart the reinforced metal that had held him captive. The once-impenetrable titanium contraption crumpled like paper, shards flying as he burst forth into freedom.

Barefoot, he leaped out of the wrecked tomb, the floor beneath him splintering under his weight.

Almost at once, red lights flickered to life in every cell, hallway and control room, an ominous wail of sirens piercing the air all across Rikers Island.

What do you do?
Oct 5, 2024 7:01 pm
"Oh, crap." Well, they didn't need to worry about the computer anymore. She'd take that over this honestly. It just seemed like they were making progress convincing the other two to leave. Now it looks like he might end up getting killed anyway. Keeping him alive wasn't the issue anymore. The real problem was keeping this guy in. Mimic starts looking around the room for anything to block him from leaving.

>>>Wrecker echoed Mimic's sentiments. He hadn't recognized the cell his father had been kept in because they didn't drag people down here to visit. That was always in a "visitation center", not down in the cell blocks, so he had no idea whose cell the kid and Shockwave had broken into.
>>>That mystery was cleared up as soon as the man broke through the holding cell and stepped out. "Dad?!?" was all he had the mental bandwith to say. Instinctively, he moved to put himself between the Elder Wrecker and Mimic, the kid and Shockwave.
Oct 6, 2024 5:00 pm
There were very few people alive who could take a punch from the Wrecker and live to tell the tale. His son was one of them.

The elder supervillain didn't care about punching the lights out of his own flesh and blood. His son put himself between him, and the people who tried to kill him. He made his choice, and now he was going to pay for it.

The mighty reverberating 'thud' sent Wrecker Junior flying right through the adjacent wall. A mortal man would have broken every bone in his body, but the teenage superhero was made of sterner stuff. He was dazed, and bruised, lying next to a pile of concrete bricks, but still breathing, and very much still in the fight.
OOC:
@witchdoctor - mark 1 harm.
@MEGalodon - there is a thick power cord connected to the contraption the supervillain broke out of. As the teenager alluded to, it could have been used to deliver a shock of electricity strong enough to 'fry' a mortal man. Mimic can yank the power cord, but she should be careful handling a loose electrical cable.
@Greel - describe how Blue Reaper arrives at the scene, and can make a Move.
Oct 6, 2024 5:17 pm
Reaper blinks into existence a few feet from The Wrecker (the Younger). Finding her teammate on the ground was a surprise, but given the obvious path of destruction, the situation seemed plain enough. Turning to the older man Reaper shouts, "Play time is over old timer. Back in your cell or things will get ugly. Uglier, I suppose" They follow this with a wave of fear, hoping to subdue the brute.
OOC:
With that 10 I will choose Avoid their Blows and Frighten the Opposition

>>>"...ow..." Ronnie felt all the power his Dad had put into that punch. Pieces of concrete and cinderblock still rained down on him as he skidded to a halt in the hallway. Ordinarily, a hit like that and it'd take him a bit to get back up but, in this case, he had to scramble to his feet and get back in there before his Dad tore through Mimic, Shockwave and that stupid kid like a hurricane through toilet paper.
>>>"Hey." he nodded to Reaper as he climbed back into the room through the hole he'd made a moment earlier. Between himself, his Dad and Shockwave there were enough heavy-hitters in the room to probably collapse the rest of the cell block and trap them all inside...along with anyone else being held down here.
>>> Again, he interposed himself between his Dad and the others. "Hold up there, Pops... Keep that up and you'll bury us all down here.
You included."
he said, taking a defensive stance this time. "But I'm not letting you hurt anyone else here just like I won't let them hurt you, Pops." Ronnie was unaware of Reaper already reaching out her psychic influence towards Wrecker, Sr.
OOC:
There's several Moves here that could trigger here. Ronnie could try to PROVOKE Wrecker,Sr. to stand down. Defend Someone if he lashes out again or Take A Powerful Blow in case he throws hands again...
He's under the Guilty Condition from his interaction with Shockwave earlier so that puts him at a -2 for Provoke. So, not a good option here.

Maybe Comfort or Support is the right move here.
Try to soothe his Dad & calm him down. That's +Mundane, better odds than Provoke so that's what I'll go with.

Might need a bit of a Team Boost to get it to 7. Anyone wanna chime in?

The Wrecker looked blankly at the blue Reaper. For a fleeting moment, uncertainty flickered in his eyes. Ripper's fear-inducing powers was starting to penetrate his tough exterior, but instead of retreating back to his cell as ordered, he made a sudden, defiant decision. He leaped - high into the air, shattering the ceiling above him in a spectacular explosion of debris.

He was gone, leaving only a cloud of dust and chaos in his wake. But the real danger was just beginning. With a thunderous crash, the entire ceiling collapsed, and massive chunks of metal and concrete plummeted on top of the heroes' heads- a deadly avalanche threatening to bury them alive.
OOC:

Sorry @witchdoctor, need to resolve one move at a time.

The Wrecker (Senior) marks the 'afraid' condition and has chosen to try to run away.

Mimic and The Wrecker (Junior) can't be harmed by the falling debris, and are probably strong enough to dig their way through. The same can't be said for the teenage boy, Shockwave, or Blue Reaper. If either of you wants to save the NPCs, roll a 'Defend' Move. Blue Reaper - you can try to get out of the way by teleporting in the nick of time (roll to 'Unleash your Powers').

After we resolve what happened, Blacklight can join the fray.

With the ceiling collapsing around them, Reaper scrambles to find a mind in a safe location.

At the last second Reaper finds a guard who hasn't fled and jumps topside right outside the building.
