He'd like to say he was surprised by his Dad's sudden, spectacular exit...but really it was almost what he expected. The disappointed, longing look at the hole Wrecker,Sr. made in the cell roof turned to horror as the whole structure started to cave in. In that moment, he saw Reaper vanish just as quickly as she'd appeared and the dawning terror on everyone else's faces. Without hesitation, he went to work trying to save Shockwave and the Kid. Mimic could be as tough as she needed to be; he trusted her experience and powers to get her out of such a tight spot. He hoped she felt the same about him. Shockwave and the Kid...they were a different matter. Not that he face it even a second's worth of thought before leaping to shield them from tons of falling debris.
OOC:
Rolling at a -1 so I may need Team Backup... Let's see what RNG-esus has for me today.

Edit: yep. Gonna need some help here.

Rolls

Defend Move (+Savior) - (2d6-1)

(24) - 1 = 5

Oct 9, 2024 12:59 am
Mimic looks between the man running away and the electric wire before quietly swearing under her breath and turning to the other people in the room. "I should've decked him." He seemed like a bad father, but she wasn't the one related to him. There was a possibility the good Wrecker knew something she didn't. It looked like he had the right idea about keeping the other two safe. Mimic joins him trying to shield them from the debris.

Rolls

Defend roll - (2d6)

(31) = 4

Blacklight stepped through her portal, emerging on the eastern side of the prison just as a figure exploded out of the crumbling facade behind her. The man soared through the air, his body propelling itself several dozen feet above the ground, defying gravity as debris rained down around him. He landed with a heavy thud on the grass just outside the prison's perimeter, the impact sending a tremor through the earth.

She caught his grim expression as he straightened up, his harsh glare illuminated by the searchlights from the hovering helicopters. He was dressed in tattered orange jumpsuit - and it was impossible to mistake him for anything but an escaped convict.

What do you do?
OOC:
@skychan - you can make a Move.
Oct 11, 2024 3:58 pm
Given that he apparently just jumped THROUGH the ground Blacklight doesn't have any delusion of trying to fight him physically. At least she wouldn't if she weren't so angry about being shot at by assholes who should know better than to put innocents in danger, and here is another one of those assholes. Obviously he's whoever the attack on the prison was meant to free. She wasn't going to let that happen. "I don't think so buddy you are not getting away!"

Of course she was smart enough not to try and physically grab him but now in the crazy quilt of shadows that was the ground just outside the prison he was in her territory. Dozens of arms of darkness reaching out to grasp at him, pick him up, pull him, hold him, or at least that was the intent when she began.
OOC:
Blacklight is going to selfishly use the last point of team, increasing her danger and reducing her Freak as she lashes out in her anger. This adjusts the roll to end on an 8 rather than a 6. Shes going to take away his chance to run by having entangled him in so many grasping tentacles of darkness

Rolls

Directly engage a threat - (2d6-2)

(44) - 2 = 6

Oct 13, 2024 7:38 pm
Mimic pushed the boy into Wrecker’s arms just before the torrent of collapsing debris descended upon them. As the dust settled, Wrecker was trapped beneath a mountain of concrete and steel. He was unharmed, as were Shockwave and Carl – both of whom were pinned tightly between his body, and the floor.
OOC:
@witchdoctor – choose one:

• add a Team to the pool
• take Influence over someone you protect
• clear a condition
Oct 13, 2024 7:40 pm
Shadowy tendrils snaked around the Wrecker’s legs while Blacklight watched from a distance. She was fully aware that this was merely a temporary measure to slow the supervillain down; the man’s sheer strength was too formidable for her dark tendrils to hold him for long.

Looking at her with deadeyes, the Wrecker summoned every ounce of his rage and determination. A deafening thunderclap echoed through the air as the rock he picked up and hurled at the helicopter hovering above them tore through the sound barrier. The moment it struck, a violent explosion of metal and debris erupted from the tail of the aircraft, sending it spiraling downward uncontrollably as the searchlight attached to the helicopter swung wildly, casting erratic beams of light.
OOC:
@MEGalodon – you can climb out of the wreckage and make a Move.
@skychan - the Wrecker marks the 'angry' condition.
Oct 15, 2024 9:02 am
"Everybody okay?’ he asked reflexively. "Try and stay calm. Once this stuff stops settling, I'll try and get us out." Wrecker flexed a bit to give everyone a bit more room in the space beneath him. He kept an even tone, as if this kind of thing was a regular occurrence for him, to help keep Shockwave and the Kid reassured.
"You okay, Mimic?" he called out to his teammate. She was, quite literally, just as tough as the reinforced concrete and steel the cell was made from but that didn't really stop his concern. At least his Dad wasn't still out there with her. THAT would've concerned him more than the tons of debris sitting on top of him.
OOC:
Hm. All of those choices sound good. It'd be nice to put Team back into the pool since I used the lion's share of it. Taking Influence over Shockwave or the Kid would definitely make sense and probably be fairly handy at some point. Clearing his Guilty condition would definitely make sense given that he just saved Shockwave's life.

I think choosing Taking Influence over Shockwave is the way to go. Seems like a good, dramatic thing to do.

"I'm fine! I'm going to try to get myself out from here if you've got things handled with those two." She began carefully pushing rubble aside. Pausing every time something shifted. If she messed up it might rebury her. Mimic quickly looked around at the situation once she was able to climb out. The helicopter falling was not good, but she didn't know how'd she'd be able to help with that. It seemed like he was restrained for now. She could try to tackle him. It was better than doing nothing. Or she could be a distraction. She could start throwing pieces of rubble at him. He was restrained for now, but once he got out hopefully it would have been annoying enough for him to not think straight.
OOC:
For the roll I'm going with create an opportunity for your allies.

Rolls

Directly engage a threat - (2d6+1)

(33) + 1 = 7

Oct 15, 2024 7:35 pm
"...we’re okay," Shockwave huffed from beneath the Wrecker. Though he was tough enough to withstand the falling debris without serious injury, the sheer weight of several tons of concrete and steel pinned him down, leaving him unable to pull himself free.

He was grateful, however, that the enormous load didn’t seem to faze the teenage superhero any.

"Think you can clear all this weight off us?"
Oct 15, 2024 7:37 pm
Mimic threw all her weight against Wrecker Senior, but she would have better luck pushing against a mountain. The villain was just too strong, he could probably send her flying away with a flick of his fingers
OOC:
@MEGalodon - the 'engage a threat' Move didn’t get triggered, but you can try another way to harm or contain him. Feel free to use the environment if you like, adding any narrative details that would help you accomplish that goal. And let me know which option you choose for your hit.

@Greel - you can make the next Move, after Mimic
Oct 16, 2024 5:29 am
"It's not tte first time a building fell on me..." Wrecker tried to sound positive but at the moment he was also regretting that bag of FunYuns he ate earlier. Maybe not as much as Shockwave or the Kid regretted it however. "Let's see if I can shift this stuff up so you can get out safely. I'll lift this junk high enough for you two to crawl out. If I just stand up, all this stuff will shift around me and crush you guys." Wrecker pushed up gently and slowly to avoid shifting the smaller, yet still heavy, pieces of debris to allow Shockwave and the Kid to crawl out of the rubble pile.
OOC:
Not sure if I need an 'Unleash' here or just go with the narrative...
Oct 17, 2024 7:00 pm
"HE’S GETTING AWAY!!!!"
Carl cared more about the escaping supervillain than his own physical safety. The vein in his neck popped as he screamed at shockwave at the top of his lungs: "DO SOMETHING!!!!"
Oct 17, 2024 7:02 pm
"You should count yourself lucky being alive, kiddo" Shockwave, for his part, started crawling on his elbows through the tight space Wrecker cleared for them. When he saw Carl wasn’t following, he yanked the teenager by his wrist, pulling him behind him. A short minute later they were gone, out of the collapsed holding cell and into the still intact hallway.
OOC:
@witchdoctor, no, no roll required.
@Greel, make your move. And then any of you can take the next one.

Blue Reaper watches in horror as the helicopter starts spinning out of control. The panic in the pilot's mind is a glaring beacon to use. It's means leaving the fight to the others but saving lives is the point of all this.

Reaper teleports up to the cockpit doing their best to adjust for the rotation of the craft, but they come out of the Astral plane in an awkward position anyway, sprawled across the pilot's lap. Straining against the fabric of reality, Reaper allows the occupant's panic to fill their own mind and create a link allowing the hero to drag everyone back through the mindscape, hopefully moments before impact.
OOC:
Perhaps an Unleash?

Rolls

Blue Reaper: DEFEND - (2d6+(-1)+(0))

(33) - 1 = 5

Oct 19, 2024 7:16 pm
Blue Reaper feels a wave of vertigo wash over her once she teleports into the helicopter's cockpit. The world outside was spinning uncontrollably as the helicopter spiraled downwards uncontrollably, despite her desperate attempts to regain control. With a thunderous impact, it crashes into the building, erupting in a brilliant orange fireball that illuminates the night sky. The flames that consumed the wreckage licked the sides of the structure, the fire quickly becoming a raging inferno.
OOC:
@Greel: Blue Reaper made it out in the nick of time, together with a very nauseated pilot. Describe how the experience affects you and mark a condition. And a potential.
Oct 19, 2024 8:04 pm
Reaper struggles to get back on their feet after that experience. The problem with traveling through the Astral Plane with someone else was keeping all the thoughts separate while focusing on the target. When it's just two brains, it's easy. A third, unexperienced mind reaches out like someone drowning.

The pilot couldn't help but think about being with their family in that moment. Their mind was full of regret and wishing they had lived a better life. It wracked Reaper's focus as their thoughts ran into each other. It made the hero want to be with family, their own or the pilot's.

Crashing back into reality left Reaper feeling lost. Like maybe thos wasn't the right way to use these powers. It left them feeling very Insecure.

>>>'Yep. I think I can shift this stuff and get us out now that Junior is out of the way..." Ronnie adjusted his body and let the larger blocks of debris through the pile that would've hurt the kid but not Wrecker or Shockwave. Slowly, he pushed his way up and out, eventually throwing off the heavy beams that landed across back and freed them both. "You better hope Junior doesn't make you the fall guy in all this..." he said to Shockwave as he stood up and made his way into the corridor and upwards to the surface. "Ordinarily, they'd probably get really mad if I didn't try to at least apprehend you but, honestly, I've got bigger fish to fry right now. So...like, take care of yourself. Yeah?"
Oct 22, 2024 12:41 pm
Wrecker climbed out of the wreckage to witness his father fighting off the rest of the team. The shadowy tentacles that coiled around his body, and the concrete slabs hurled at him by Mimic, only served to distract him for a few short seconds – and infuriate him. He could have probably made his escape at this point, and maybe he would, later, if things got too dicey. Right now, he was set on doing only one thing- punishing the upstarts who dared to put themselves in his way.
OOC:
Wrecker marks 'insecure'
@witchdoctor - you can make a Move.
Oct 22, 2024 2:53 pm
Blacklight still stood a fair way clear of Wrecker, a look of concentration on her face as she actually appeared to be gesturing from time to time, something she didn't normally do at all with her powers but it seemed she needed the extra effort just to try and inconvenience Wrecker with how quickly and easily he could tear her shadowy tentacles free. For now it seemed she was making little progress each new tentacle replacing one lost and he hadn't really focused on escape only tearing free of one or two shadowy limbs at a time, so for now so as strange as it seemed there was a moment of equilibrium in the struggle. Of course it was a balancing act that couldn't last long.
OOC:
post just for flavor!

>>>Wrecker, Ronnie, stopped at the cracked entrance to the surface as he saw the rest of the team trying to stop his Dad. The crash if the helicopter and the flash of it delivering snapped him out of his momentary fugue. He didn't want to fight his Dad but he couldn't not fight him either. His Dad was dangerous and apparently unpredictable right now.
>>>Ronnie ran to the scene as fast as he could over the rubble-strewn terrain as he tried to think of how to handle the situation. If it were anyone else, he'd go in swinging. Provide a target, if nothing else, and let Blacklight or Mimic or someone smarter figure out what to do. But this time, it wasn't just anyone he was going up against... "Woah, woah, woah!" he called out, interposing his big frame between his team and his Dad. "Hey, don't throw this chance away. Don't let em charge you with attempted escape when you're this close to finishing your sentence... It's not your fault. Let us take you in and explain what happened." He plead with the senior Wrecker, unsure of the outcome but he couldn't let slip by the opportunity to at least try to reach out to him.
OOC:
I think the Move here is Provoke. Ronnie is trying to get the senior Wrecker to turn himself in. Let's see how this goes.

Rolls

Provoke (+Superior) - (2d6+1)

(45) + 1 = 10
