Unsure of the distance so I'll edit accordingly if need be.
Edit: for command it says on his next turn, so is the cell still closed?

I was in a World of Warcraft dungeon one time with some friends, and we had picked up a random fifth. He kept dying in this one room and we'd wipe, so we'd try again.

"Stop standing in the bad stuff!" one of us said, and he replied:
"YOU CAN'T MAKE ME, I DO WHAT I WANT!"

We still laugh at that.

SO i'm slightly lost but would using expeditious retreat allow me to reach the escaping prisoner? using my movement to get as close as possible casting spell then using bonus action to dash possibly blocking door way?

Feng could move up to to 30' (still 30' from the door), and cast Exp. Retreat. Then, as a bonus action on the same turn, you could do a dash up to the closed inner door. On your next turn, you could move as much as 90' a round, which should catch you up to the other three escaping prisoners within a few rounds, depending on what they might be doing.

The cell gate is still closed, Snowy. We are essentially trapped in here.
Edit: Unsure if you can hold your bonus action to dash.

Holding your action will reset your initiative to the point that you act. It shouldn't be way to save up your actions and release them in a burst.

well there are 2 ways to delay your turn, 1 is holding an action, but it can only be an Action, So rybian's action is he is going to shove me 5ft, so i am inside the doorway. and the trigger is when Gilchan opens the door.

My action is When i get shoved i want to hit Gilchan on the head, (preferably while standing inside the doorway but f that is not possible then ah so be it.

The second way is to actually Delay, that means you drop your initiative to 0 for rest of combat and act as last...

PHB 193: "you can take the Ready action on your turn so that you can act later in the round using your reaction."

I would take that to mean that if your Ready action delays part of your action to be "during" an opponents action, then it doesn't change your initiative.

true however what i Always have interpreted is that when you take the ready action, you ONLY get an action, no movement, no bonus action.... ONLY an action.

If you want to take an full turn, so with movement, and bonus action, you have to "delay"your entire turn, in fact changing your initiative.. and to balance it out, i made it that it becomes 0 so that you cannot go from 25, to15 and then later changing it again

We always played that if you hold your action, then choose to act later, your initiative gets set to the spot where you act, as that makes logical sense.

Gilchan is knocked out, right? We're trapped in with two prisoners with the outer cell gate that is locked and three "escaped" (we don't know if they are caught or not?)

Is Gilchan on our side of the outer door or the side with the real guard? Well.....presumably real :)
Oct 3, 2016 4:39 am
He is on our side because he unlocked the inner gate for us then Ranor knocked him out.
Oct 3, 2016 1:27 pm
Right, GA is on your side, near the inner door.

Don't you hate it when you make an intimidating character, and then blow your first few intimidation checks?

Lol, yeah its a tad frustrating that it's based on Cha....the Fighters dump stat :-)
