The overall lack of reaction to her implication allowed the tension to leave her.

"Well, I'd say I was decent looking before, but now I'm a bombshell. And yeah if you can do anything to help, Al, then please do. I wasn't given shit for knowledge about medicine. As for the green with tusks thing, I'd think it'd be more stereotypical if you were some kind of barbarian. But that's more of a D&D type thing. Maybe the orcs here are in tune with nature? I dunno."

AJ did whatever Al asked, cooperating as much as she could despite how awful she felt.

Chapter 2: It's a Jungle Out There

You stay in the camp another day, hoping to allow AJ and Novac a chance to fully recover. Unfortunately, today seems like it won't be as uneventful as the previous day.

It is late in the morning when Dalton notices movement in the brush surrounding your camp. Creeping closer is a reptilian creature, lean and muscular. It has a long tail and two powerful legs that end in feet topped with wicked talons. Thatches of vibrantly colored feathers adorn its body. The beast opens its mouth in a chirping hiss as it prepares to pounce!

OOC:

Dalton may act first! The creature is 20 feet away.

Dalton spots the predator right before it is ready to attack - was it alone? - had he missed another one in the area?

Looked like a raptor from one of those Jurassic Park movies - those always hunted in packs - and they killed everything they could find in the movies. Letting it pounce seemed like a bad idea.

"We're under attack!!" he says loudly.

Just as panic was about to set in about being eaten by a dinosaur, Dalton felt himself settle into a fighting stance, allowing instinct and training he did not understand take over.

OOC:

I'm assuming Dalton did not happen to have his shield on. Can Dalton pick up and don his shield as one action? If not, skip shield

Grabbing his shield, Dalton quickly moves to the creature. Channeling his inner strength, he lashes out with a flurry of strikes! His first critical blow shatters the beast’s jaw, while the second hit sends it sprawling to the ground, where it lies still!

He has only a moment to celebrate his swift victory before the second feathered beast leaps out from his flank! It rushes in to slash at him with its foot talons! Fortunately, Dalton dodges the clever girl’s attacks!

Al instinctively raises his shield as he begins to cast a spell.

Action 2+3: Cast Electric Arc on the two creatures.

An arc of lightning leaps from one target to another. Each target takes 2d4 electricity damage with a basic Reflex save - DC17

Unable to think very deeply due to her ill state, AJ taps into her inner fire to heat the air around her. The humidity in the air seems to fade as sparks sporadically crackle in the area. At the same time, she summons a barrier of light to try to protect herself.

Activating my Incendiary Aura and casting Shield.

Yes they did, I was unable to post this weekend.

Before AJ can bring her magic to bear, Al zaps the beast with electricity, and then Novac slips in behind it. With two shanks of his blade into the creature's vulnerable spots, he takes out the feathered foe!

The scent of burning meat from Al's electricity made AJ's stomach turn. Eager to get back to rest, she turned away from the group and went back inside her tent.

"Good that not everything here is as dangerous as the demonic plant thing."

She muttered to herself as she lied down.

"We really shouldn't stay here much longer. Those dead birds are bound to attract animals." Novac glanced around, a worried expression on his face. "Maybe we can just move a little ways." Looking at AJ with concern, he said, "I can carry you for a bit if you're having trouble walking."

AJ sat back up, leaning against her backpack so she could at least be closer to eye level with her companions. Though it didn't seem that would matter when she just shut them immediately.

"Al is right. Let's walk for an hour or so and then find a spot to rest. It's too dangerous to stay here." Despite feeling weak and queasy, Novac slowly started to pack up their gear, trying his best to methodically organize things while keeping a lookout for more predators.

Dalton looked down at the bird he had smashed with his bare hands. "Well, at least I'm not bleeding this time, but I agree. This will attract scavengers or worse. Lets just move camp a mile or so. Just so we are not right here with the smell of fresh blood. We'll go slow and not far."

Remembering how he felt yesterday and a hundred times before, "AJ, I'll pack up your tent and carry your gear while we move. Al, you want to help Novac?"

You move locations, traveling for an hour or so before Al locates another suitable location to set up camp. Once that's done, you return to resting and tending to AJ and Novac. The rest of the day and night pass quietly, giving the sick time to convalesce.

OOC:

AJ and Novac can each attempt another save against the disease.
