OOC (SoVI)

Okay, so I'm going to copy/paste the whole latest session and that should be enough to get us rolling. Since GP doesn't have a specific Wiki option and I use that pretty heavily I might look at off-site options, and we'll just have role-play and an OOC thread. It seems like I have permission to post as any of your PCs, so please get them up ASAP so that I can rebuild the thread.

I don't love the idea of inline OOC but... I think we're gonna have to work that way. I don't want to be trying to pair up two threads. Shame no one else has realised how awesome TK's fliptiles are :(Anyway, welcome all. We'll be up an running next week.

On an unrelated note, I've had an RTJ already. Adding players is entirely up to you - I'll accommodate as many players as you want. I was pretty clear that we weren't really looking, but he sounded like he could mesh well so I thought I'd ask. Let me know if you'd like to say hi and I'll work out how to make that happen.

It looks like TK is, in fact, down. RIP TK. Is there a setting where we can see each others' characters?

GP allows you to set up subforums (like I've done on WGF). You can put threads of setting info, etc in there. It's not a wiki format, but to be fair neither was TK's. Click on the Administrative Control Panel link on the game forum's main page to access it.

I'm quite happy with the team we have now, but I could also see adding another player if there was a good prospect and broad agreement from the crew.

I think in this case we have a strong core group that all have a similar post rate, so honestly I think the only good reason for fresh blood is novelty. But after 5 years novelty might not be without appeal.

Just need Rahkazar up in some form and I can reinstate the latest thread.

In the meantime, if anyone wanted to know just how damn much we've written... it's a lot.

I would prefer to avoid adding anyone new for all my old reasons. But I wouldn't want to be the one to keep you guys from meeting nice, new people who just want to create. And if we recruit the wrong person and this spells our doom, at least we went the distance.

If I had a vote (and I explicitly don't) I'd say we just moved to a new platform and building momentum again will be hard enough.

I'm at best ambivalent about a new person. It sounds, in fact, like nobody's "excited" about it, which is probably reasonable evidence that we shouldn't.

Maybe RHM isn't getting notifications and could use a PM-tickle?

Does GP here send email notifications? I don't think I've ever gotten one. Is there a setting I need to toggle?

There should be a Subscribe button on threads and forums, but I'm having trouble finding it or getting it to work on some of them.

If I have a question that we would have disposed of in the fliptile OOC on TK, how do you want to handle it here? Should I just start with "OOC" to tag it? Also, experimenting with color.

I was chatting to the community here, and they showed me the spoiler fliptile, which I kind of like.Also, I can edit your posts, so we can have a back-and-forth conversation in that spoiler tag.

And yes, the colour palette here's all a bit garish, but if my choice of colour in the resurrected thread doesn't suit you then go ahead and choose a new one.

How do I do the spoiler fliptile? I'll fix my post appropriately.

Fliptiles aren't implemented here (though it sounds like Keleth, the admin/site operator/good egg, is working on something simillar), but you can do the collapsable OOC box with the +- symbol next to the OOC tag, far right of the line of options above the post field.

Keleth seems extremely responsive. I asked if the site had bullet points, and they proceeded to spend a page working out how to implement them.

So I edited Ej's last post to reply to his OOC, and I unchecked marking it as a minor edit. Did that notify you?

I did get notified, and there's even a link that takes me straight to the post. So that's handy. So how would I roll for more info?

Cool! We've essentially got a rudimentary version of the fliptiles that just the poster and the GM can participate in. I'd call that a win.

Well, you've been tracking without rolls, cos it's not that hard and it's one of those things where if you're going to be excluded from the story by a bad roll, best not to ask for a roll. But where this other pursuer went will require a Survival, cos they either got cautious, teleported, or they're still here.

Also, how do we add die rolls to posts?

Underneath the Preview/Post buttons is a Roll section. If you have your character sheet set up, then it looks like all you need to do is click your character name and the Attributes and Skills will pop up. Press whichever one you want to auto-add the roll, or you could add a totally separate one that's custom.

I love that Rawiya has this whole Jar Jar Binks secret Sith Lord thing down to a science. Totally tracks.

I was going to dispute this, but then I remembered it's a whole thing.

You've seen bats, we've got them here, you KNOW when they're around. Shitting and screaming and slamming into stuff - they're like a flying metal festival.

You know, I have never seen them here. The only time I've seen them was around Carlsbad Caverns in the US - then it was a sort of our-wings-will-black-out-the-sky event.

There are long-tailed bats in the Waitakere ranges, but you sometimes get them out around Swanson and Oratia. But I've only seen them solo a few times. Saw tons of fruit bats near Halong bay last year though.

I remember coming home late from a friend's house one time in a very warm July, intent on turning in for work the next morning, and there was a bat in my apartment. It waited until I was down to just boxers (sorry for the image) before making itself known. Just about the size of a mouse, so nothing to get excited about, save for all the swooping. And I had this chubby orange cat in those days who kind of gave me this look like "My name's Paul, and this is between y'all."

Ultimately used a pair of leather winter gloves to wrest the bat free of the window screen and release it majestically into the night. It only really got noisy at the end when it decided I was trying to eat it. Nibbly little bastard, so I'm glad I had the gloves.

They are indeed. In Ontario, the main concerns are foxes, racoons, skunks, and bats. So I am glad my cat was smart enough to nope out. It was only his body language that made it amusing. Always with the sweet murder-chirps watching squirrels out the window, and when he gets his chance to unleash hell, he wants no part of it. Good times.

For what it's worth, I lived in a big, old house renovated into apartments at the time, so I suspect the bat crept down from the attic. I was there for four years and that was the only pest I dealt with. I miss that apartment ... because it was super cheap.
