Boudica enters the room, filled with awe. Seeing the statue, she audibly gasps, approaches with eyes wide, and drops to one knee, and whispers, "Queen Petra..."

The Petra-statue doesn't move at Will's/Halav's appeal. It remains just as it was - an unblinking, ageless block of marble. It doesn't move even after Boudica kneels before it. But when it reaches out to the staff, she could almost imagine Petra's fingers subtly shifting. Or maybe it was just her imagination, but the perfect grip around the staff seemed to have loosened somewhat. Enough so she could easily slide it out of the statue's hand.

Boudica gasps and, shaking with fervor and profound awe, she slides out the staff.

"Petra can heal you" the voice in Will's head continues speaking to him "...all you have to do is ask. She can help many others, too. If you can keep her safe"
OOC:
The staff is obviously magical (or maybe, holy?) - it feels slightly warm in your hands. Jul 1, 2025 12:10 pm
Our neolegendary fellow says to the Statue, Petra, will you please heal me?
Will closed his eyes, and breathes deeply.

Miyana rolls her eyes and groans inwardly. What do they expect? That the goddess is going to appear before them and declare Will the king of the world?

Boudica takes the staff and examines it, whispering a prayer to Petra for guidance.

Will feels a warmth spread through his body, and the next time he swallows doesn't feel like he's chugging a mug of puke. The staff feels right in Boudica's hands, but the prayer to Petra doesn't aid her in uncovering its secrets.
The question remains what to do next. You don't have much time before Karl will check up on you, and there is no way you can keep the statue a secret from him. With the zealot Kelvin ruling the city, there is a high probability that he will take an interest in your findings. And not the good type of interest...

I feel much better now, Will says in kind fightery report.
We need to get the statue to the surface, seal everything up, and get out before the authorities catch onto us. I’d suggest we explore further, but I feel like we’re on a strict timetable.
Thoughts?

Boudica hold the staff, still awestruck, and says, "What? Oh, umm, yes, definitely. But... isn't there more here?" She gestures toward the tunnel that leads away from the statue and the opening to the tavern above. She turns to Will and asks, "Can you ask Halav -- or old you, I guess -- if there's more further in? Or is there something else we should do?"

Will nods agreeably, in divinely-inspired acquiescence.
Spirit…does our destiny lie in the darkness beyond? Or, should I bolt?

The spirit won't tell you whether you should bolt or not; it can't see the future. All you have is a sense that the corridor leads to the underground ruins of old Lav. It's likely many of the old avenues are walled off or collapsed.

Boudica looks at the statue of Petra once more and says, "Forgive me, Queen Petra; I only wish to serve you. But we have to protect you from Thyatian eyes. For the moment at least." She pulls out her large sack and slides it over the statue, covering up the top half of it. She turns to Will and says, "I suspect we have found what we came for, though I would very much like to return here some day and explore old Lavv. You want to renovate Mistamere; I want to buy this place, and turn it into a Traladaran temple and historical record. So I say we exit, bury the stone, and deny we found anything. And let him keep the 150 gold for all I care. After that, I would like time to commune with this staff."

Our neolegendary fellow helps secure the statue with sacks (Will has one too), and ties it with his trusty rope. Rope of the hempen variety!
I’m sure ol’ Karl will keep the 150, that’s what he was paid. It’s the 600 collateral I hope we can recoup. I don’t know the divine rules for shaking someone down over collateral, I haven’t got that deep yet.
Will helps haul the statue and staff back to surface, and cleans the area to a holy level of tidiness.

Boudica indicates that the statue can stay—they have no way to hide it in the city, or anywhere to take it, really. So she picks up a piece of obviously ancient tile and grips the staff and says, "Ok let’s cover our tracks as best we can and then go deal with the barkeep."

"Come on! You said you'll be done by the afternoon. I got a house full of thirsty folk upstairs. I need that cask over there - " he points to one of the barrels half-blocked by the small mound of earth "..and I need this place looking like a cellar again. You're about done here...right?" it was a question he posed out of politeness. The only answer he expected would be a 'yes'
Jul 3, 2025 6:50 pm
Boudica nods and replies, "Yes, we are!
We’re just beginning our clean up. Well be finished and out of here in no time. Look, we recovered a tile shard! No monetary value, but of historical significance for sure!" She displays the piece of tile, carefully stows it, and resumes her efforts cleaning up.

Will continues divinely-inspired clean-up!
Yes, Karl, a tile of ancient heritage. Right underneath ye ole tavern! We’re glad we had this time together!
Will even offers to help move bring to fore the much-needed cask!

Boudica nods and says, "Yes sir." then she helps to return the cellar to its original appearance and heads up, staff in hand.
