Here's my attempt at the RM2 character sheet. I've done little to automate rolls, but mainly just duplicated the paper sheet.

I think that looks pretty good! Thanks again! Can you put it somewhere where people can access it, fill it out, then post it to where I can read them? I'm afraid I don't know how this works.

For the money, you can get rid of the MPs, PPs, BPs, and TPs: there are only gold, silver, and copper coins (we won't worry about denominations and exchange rates at the moment eg How many Ilsigi padpools to a Rankan soldat?)

So a player can create click the Create Character button and that creates a copy for them on the site. They can complete it, partially or fully, and submit it to the game. Then you as the GM have to click Approve (on the Game Details) page. At that point, the sheet can still be edited, it always can be edited, it's never locked, so don't wait for it to be "complete".

Here's a video on how Custom sheets work:

After entering stats into that sheet, I think I'd make some changes - there should be a spot to record Stat Bonuses based on the total adjusted stat. I also need to double check what skills I want to focus on to make sure I haven't gimped that with poor stat assignments.

What kind of character are you thinking of Qralloq and kwll? I'm thinking of Diognes is going for a warrior type, I'll go for a Thief, but if either of you want that, I can go for something else.

Bounty Hunter, which is a fighter/ranger cross.

Hmm. A thief, a fighter, a bounty hunter . . . .

Idea yet, kwll? (BTW, is that a Welsh spelling?)

I am leaning towards Ranger or Monk. Since Monk seems somewhat restricted, I will probably stick to Ranger.

With the monk, I was thinking of the Bandaran adepts or someone like them, an origin that's basically outside the Rankan Empire.

NB that the group's origin hasn't really been set yet, so you all could be from the vicinity of the Bandaran Isles. I think it'd be also fair to say that a Bandaran monk would need a seriously good reason why he's joining up with what looks like a bunch of cut-throat bounty hunters.

When considering the ranger as an allowable profession, I was thinking of the main character from the story "Looking for Satan" in Shadows of Sanctuary. However, given what she says about the people of Sanctuary, such rangers probably have Mentalism rather than Channeling as their power source.

A channelling ranger from somewhere else, might be a devotee of Heqt or Anen or even Thufir (although that last association might not work with this particular group).

Ha! I read Corum's sextology long ago. I forgot Kwll and his Hand.

I've got no attachment to where we're from. I'm still leaning towards the idea that my thief did not intend to come here to stay but circumstances have dictated that he will.

Well, that can make things easier. There are places nearby to the Bandarans where the rest of the group could have started in then met the monk then headed south to Sanctuary.

As for intentions, I thought we were running with the idea that nobody planned consciously on heading for Sanctuary . . . .

Diogenes, here are the two fighters.
I haven't gone over the stats yet to see what needs to change (aside from magical equipment), so take the info with a grain of salt.

Seeing these make me want to see what the Thief options would be. The stats (I know there's a couple of levels of improvement) are better than any of ours on PC1.

One problem with these characters is that they were built with the background options (which they unfortunately didn't list). That first fighter, the Tank, couldn't have gotten a 101 STR without a background option. I also vaguely remember something about the temp stats getting rolled in a way that loaded good odds on the PC's side; I'll look it up tomorrow.

C'mon. Give it some credit. There's a one in 10000 chance of getting a 101 potential without background options. I remember how many 18/00 strengths were in the world once upon a time...

Then you just need to beat the 50/50 one of the two level ups and bang, 101 STR.

I don't have any specific knowledge of Thieves' World and Sanctuary, so I wouldn't be able to choose between the options you provided. I refrained from reading the box set after entering this game, but maybe reading the players' guide to Sanctuary is a good idea? At least it is short enough...

kwll, remember that the group isn't native to Sanctuary, so you really shouldn't read even the players' guide (or, at the very least, try not to use the info you read in it).
As for making an informed decision, I wasn't so much trying to give you information as I was trying to point out that, given the group's background, playing a monk isn't quite as restricted as you might think. If you want to play a monk, go ahead; all he'd really need is just some good idea as to why he'd leave his position and take up with such a group as we have now. A ranger would be easier to place, geographically, and they could be "mentalist rangers" or the more typical "channelling rangers". Either choice works fine AFAIC.

Sorry for the delay I'm causing, Folks! Busy.
Almost done going through all the Companions, though . . . .
HPs, size, and Appearance coming up soon.
Diogenes' character choice getting the fine-tooth comb as well.
Patience, please . . . .

Mentalist Ranger has a nice ring to it. It looks a lot like a Bard though, doesn't it (realm of Arms + realm Mentalism) ?
Jun 11, 2025 12:02 am
I don't see how: you'll still use almost all the stuff for rangers (dev point costs, base spell lists, etc); the only real similarity between the two professions is that both can draw on the open mentalism spell-lists.
