"Eric Zahn?! The leading man that dominated the entire action-horror genre of the late 80s with box-office hits such as The Verminator 1 and 2, Beverly Hills Corpse, Bug Trouble in Little China, and its TV spin-off Miami Lice? "Put that book down!"

Zara had just spent the morning dispersing the sand that the juvies were making sigils of. This situation was more problematic, for the summons had already begun. Still, if she could drain the waterbed, it would mean the claw creature would not have a medium to emerge from. She headed to the side of the bed in the opposite direction of the two bound victims, to locate where the cap and plug was installed on the mattress. With as hard a yank as possible, Zara intended to 'uncork' it!

"Wait! Stop! Zara! If that lamp Jak threw is in contact with the bed, you'll get fried!"

Andreva flings the fire extinguisher at the creepy lobster, not knowing what else to do and hoping Bobby or Jak succeed in injuring the crusty crustacean.

"Yikes, that could fry us all if the water flooded the place!" She twisted her body away from the bed as Andreva shouted the warning, not wanting to electrocute everyone in the room if the lamp Jak threw were to land. Instead she pirouetted to make a lunge for Zahn, intending to body tackle him down in order to grab or at least dislodge the eldritch tome from his hands.
OOC:
Belay the previous post, but keeping that wonderful Brawny roll!

As the chaos of the lobster creature's attack unfolded, Cassie focused on the two hostages tied up by the bed. She nimbly rushes over to them and begins untying the nylon rope, using her doctor's knowledge of knots to guide her hands.

"If we can rescue the hostages, we can let the Coast Guard and Deep Sea Animal Control handle Mr. Zahn and his... pet?"

Lol so many rolls, so little applied to dealing with the crustacean. Bobby's success reduces Jak's TN so she scores 1 success, Andreva scores 1 as well. Zara's rolling against Zahn which is tangentially related enough I'll count that as toward the creature as well. Cassie succeeds but doesn't reduce the amount of effort tokens of the monster. That leaves 7 effort tokens remaining.
Bobby sprays the giant crustacean in the eyes enough to momentarily blind it, giving Jak the opportunity to throw a lamp into the waterbed. The surge electricity races through the shelled abomination causing it to twitch and spasm. It doesn't last long however as the shock blows the fuse in the cabin causing all the lights to go out, plunging the room into darkness.

Andreva flings a fire extinguisher and hears a satisfying crunch as it lands on...something. Zara tackles Zahn and his eldritch tomb bounces from his hand as they both hit the carpeted floor hard. The book's final destination is unknown as the room goes dark. Luckily Cassie is already untying the two hostages as she loses most of her vision and her hands do the rest of the work, freeing the man and woman.

The only problem now is that there is a blinded angry crustacean wildly swinging its arms around in a confined cabin!
OOC:
I'll need Agile 5 rolls from everyone to avoid getting crab clawed! Technically lobster but I love alliteration and its a lovecraftian crustacean anyway lol.

"Ow!" Jak shouts into the nearly complete darkness. Something pinched her--hard, and in a rude place! "Someone's asking for it!" she shouts, flailing at the shadows around her, crustacean and otherwise.
OOC:
Rolling Agile... shoot. I keep forgetting to use a Quirk and made it harder, earning back a Luck point.

Presume she loses a point of Grit, yes?

With the room in darkness Zara needed to fall back on that sixth sense of hers to tell if she was in danger. In this case she was flat out on the floor next to the pudgy Zahn. (Oh if only he was still in his hunky heyday, all tan and hirsute and six-pack) She grabbed the book and listened out for the sound of crushing claw coming her way.
OOC:
I offer lobster lovecraftingly lacerated as alliteration! Edit: ooh any bonus effects on multiple successes, both this and the previous?

Yes, lose 1 grit on a fail. Ooh lets say a double success reduces the difficulty by 1 on your next action. Everyone is free to act.

With the electricity now shorted out, and the fact that Zara had last noted where the drainage plug to the waterbed was, it was now safer to pull the plug on the thrashing beast above her. She crawled on all fours to feel along the edge of the bed until she reached the cap, and gave it a solid yank to pry it open.
OOC:
Gonna claim Detective for noticing and remembering where the plug is. And using that bonus to reduce difficulty by 1.

Grandma! I need you NOW! While she didn't necessarily want her background known, it was do or die.

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!" Andreva commands, hoping the lobster will cease and maybe even run away with its claw between its legs.

Sorry, thought I posted here several days ago! The crustacean is down to only 3 effort tokens remaining!
Zara begins draining the waterbed. It feels as if it is have some kind of effect to weaken the creature, making it more sluggish and less menacing, but still dangerous.

Cassie makes a flamethrower out of an aerosol can and a lighter. A bright jet of fire lights up the darkened room and burns one eye stalk to a crisp that smells like cooked crab meat.

Andreva calls out to her ancestor. The crab seems confused as her words fight with those Zahn had used to summon it. It snaps its pincers in futile confusion.

Bobby grabs a thick champaign bottle and smashed it against the creatures shell, cracking it open in a spot on its topside. Purple pulsating flesh lies under the orange-red carapace!

Just then the a crack in the hull breaks open and cold salty water begins leaking into the room! The boat is starting to sink! The crabstrosity attempts to extricate itself from the waterbed and block the exit.
OOC:
PCs are back up. Still difficulty 5 for everyone, show me what you got!
Jul 7, 2025 3:24 pm
Bobby giggles nervously, suddenly thinking of a dumb joke he saw on TikTok.

Step 1: stick your dick in the hole in the hull. Step 2: drink the water in the boat. Step 3: pee out the water through the hole.

Unsure that's actually a workable solution, he looks for the fire extinguisher once more, and attempts to jam it into a claw to keep him from getting more grabby.

Remembering her last disastrous meal at Red Lobster (when she agreed to go on a date with Bobby before realizing how much of a Bobby he actually was), a look of determination sets on Jak’s striking features as she darts forward, trying to grab—and snap—one of the monster’s eyestalks!

The scene slows as she bounds and bounces forward, switching to a super-slo-mo monster-cam view of the woman coming right at the beast, chest filling the camera shot.
OOC:
A Brawny move, trying to hurt the thing with her bare hands! BUT! Using the Slow Motion quirk to increase the difficulty to 6 and get a point of Grit back! (I think it’s Grit she gets back…)

"No wait! Don't drain it! Ack, probably too late. The crab thing needs water! That's why it was in the bed. Stop the leak! If it needs to be plugged from the outside, I can do it!"

Andreva sees the crack, grabs some discarded clothing, and tries to plug the leak.
OOC:
Orrrr maybe not!

Let me happily fix that for you:

Andreva sees the crack, grabs some discarded clothing, and trips and falls into the thing's maw. God! It's an awful scene as the monster chews her to bloody bits!
