Haha, I just noticed Harigan's avatar caption.
OOC:
Great pic, BZ!
"Oh my. That looks bad," Andreva says, stating the obvious. Having done plenty of diving and swimming, almost from the cradle, she grabs a life preserver and dives right in, ready to save some lives.

After Zara dives into the water like a pro, going after the closer flounderer, Jak wrenches the wheel of the powerboat and cuts towards the other two victims bobbing in the water. The vibration of the twin massive outboards plays havoc with the woman’s body, in the best way possible.

"Bobby!" she yells over the engine and the wind and the salt spray, "You’re up next! Go go go!"
OOC:
Is there an ‘aid’ or help mechanic? Jak’s trying to help the other lifeguards, just like she’s trying to "help" Steele by showing her just what a lifeguard is supposed to look like.

And thanks for making the water not too choppy and potentially giving Jak a black eye, Nezz!

OOC:
There is a "help another hero" action, but it requires spending 1 luck and you get to reduce an ally's difficulty by 1. Speaking of difficulty, rescuing will be a 5. Throwing a life preserver would be Agility, swimming and helping them onto the boat would be Brawny, using some other solution would be Crafty.

Bobby groans and leaps into the water, faking a sore leg. He's not afraid, not exactly, well, not entirely, but the fire is oh so hot.

He hits the water like a duck into a hottub: he knows what to do but he doesn't really belong.

I'll spend a Luck! How often does it recharge?

A sleek sploosh slid Zara into the water just around the first rescuee as she bobbed back up. At least their head was still above the water. "Grab hold!" She swung the float in front of them while at the same time taking a textbook position behind them to assist them towards their speedboat.
OOC:
Some Brawny swimming for two dice.

After getting on the rescue boat, Cassie had quickly retreated to the hold below decks. She had tried to distract herself by double and triple checking the first aid kits and gear. Finally, the pills were taking effect as her headache eased and her heartbeat slowed to a normal rhythm.

As she felt Jak slowing down the speedboat, Cassie knew it was go time. With a few deep breaths, she grabbed a first aid kit and started climbing up onto the deck. "Ok its go time Cassie. Get over yourself and focus. These people need you," she said to herself as she reached the top of the stairs.

Up on deck, she rushed to the railing nearest the flaming yacht, ready to help with hauling survivors on board and beginning triage.

OOC:
You recharge it yourself by using your Quirk to make a challenge more difficult for yourself.

OOC:
Ah right! Cool, appreciate the reminder.

Spending one Luck to reduce Bobby's difficulty. If I can spend another to have him stop wearing Speedos, I might do that too.

Yikes! Be careful what you wish for, Jak!

"Hey Jaklyn! You're a little too close. Back off a little!"

Andreva sees that Zara has things under control with her rescue victim, so she makes her way to the other one in need of rescue, frowning at both Jaklyn and Bobby as she effortlessly cuts through the water like a knife.

"There's nothing wrong with you, Bobby," she shouts in passing. "Your legs are fine. Don't be such a chicken!"

Secretly she hopes there is more to the fire than meets the eye. Something not quite mundane.

"Here!" she calls out, pushing the float to the survivor, who she'd like to keep that way."Can you hold onto it? I'll be right behind you."
OOC:
Yeah brawny isn't my main stat so I should have rolled 1d6. Just pick the best result. Lol

Together you pull out two women and a man. The women look like models or escorts maybe, young and beautiful with skimpy bathing suits that would make parents cover their kid's eyes. The man is middle-aged and is wearing a captain's uniform. He has a gash in his forehead and is currently unconscious. The women are hysterical and talking over each other saying things like "He set fire to the boat!", "You have to save the others!", and "I thought they were going to kill us!".

Fisher has the boat idling as the other lifeguards come aboard with shaken hot girls and the unconscious dude, but the moment she hears that there are others she hits the throttle and moves the speedboat towards the flaming yacht. Ideally towards a non-fiery part of the vessel where they can climb aboard and look for other survivors...

"No, you back off," she says quietly, under her breath.

As the survivors come aboard, Cassie falls back on her training to handle the crisis. All those hours practicing triage during her residency at UC Miskatonic were paying off again.

"Ok, we're going to get your friends off the yacht." She takes a pen light and uses the light to check the survivors' pupils. "So the captain here was the one who set fire to the boat? Is that how he tried to kill you? Or was he trying to stop someone else who wanted to kill you?"

Turning to Jak she says "Sounds like a case of unfathomable knowledge induced mania. We need to get to that boat and make sure there isn't a harpoon wielding maniac still on the loose!" Jak may be 20 years out from crippling back pain, but Cassie trusted her in a crisis. Zara and Andreva amazed her with their grace under fire and willingness to confront danger. And Bobby... Well, every team needed a Bobby. Even though Cassie woke up everyday half expecting to see his name in the Sunset Beach Chronicle police blotter.

Both women nod, but its hard to tell which question they are responding to! One babbles, "He was trying to sacrifice us! The captain and some others. They were wearing robes!" The other says, "He's got hostages! Some guy and a chick, I think they work for him. There were others but we jumped as soon as we started being attacked!"

As Jak pulls the boat closer, she can see the fire is limited to the bridge. The wide top deck shows signs of a recent party. There are streamers and Christmas lights strung among the railings and handholds, some discarded bikinis and swim trunks drape over chair backs and boat rails, and wild music thumps from somewhere below decks. There are scattered beach chairs, half-empty wine bottles in cup holders. It looks like a wild party, interrupted. The smell of oily smoke and burnt coconut suntan lotion tickles your nose.

Zara permitted herself a moment to appreciate the fine form of the woman she had just saved when she embraced her to safety; she needed to work on her own abs more for that beach perfect bod-- before the panicked chattering snapped her back to reality. She was glad Cassie had the trained presence of mind to calm the survivors with her assuring words. "Sacrificial bonfire gone wrong?" She craned to see if there were any other people on the top deck of the ship.
OOC:
We can see only the bridge and the top deck at this point? And no one's standing around at either location?
Jun 9, 2025 3:31 pm
"Hold up Cassie," Andreva says, subtly nodding a no in her direction. The girl was going a bit far in her questioning, which wasn't her role in the first place.

Unfathomable knowledge induced mania. What even was that?

"Um, who belongs to those empty bikinis and swimming trunks over there? Anyone below decks?"
Jun 9, 2025 4:01 pm
Bobby sees that Cassie has the survivors well in hand, and briefly helps her with a quick triage of them for any life threatening or serious injuries.

As they tell their quick overview of what happens, he bounces up to Jak. "There, we can get in there, the fuel tanks are there so keep clear of those." His breath is quick from the exciting plunge, and he forgets about his 'cramp'. Those women were hot as fuck "Bet that was quite the party," he drawls lasciviously.

OOC:
Yeah the yacht is higher than your boat so you can't see much over the sides of the boat yet, just the railings and tops of chairs and such. You don't see anyone...yet...

Bobby can see the easiest place to dock is at the stern of the boat. Its the lowest portion and has a ladder up to the top deck.
