Greetings Gamers Planers,
I am looking for 4 players for a Force & Destiny game, using the FFG Star Wars RPG system.
Game Duration: more than a one shot, less than a full campaign. Maybe around 10 sessions if this were a real life game? I would expect this game to run for a year or two IRL
Posting Frequency: I would look for an average of 4 quality/contributing posts a week. I am not active on weekends, nor most Fridays.
Player Experience: in my experience this system works best in PbP when the players are at least somewhat experienced with the system. Adjudicating the narrative symbols can require a bit of back and forth, which I'd like to avoid, because it can absolutely destroy the game's pacing, so I need players that understand their options and can anticipate them, and that can proactively address and account for this dynamic in their posts, so as not to slow down the game.
I ask that, at the least, anyone who applies to the game has at least read one of the core rulebooks, and would profess to understand the core mechanics.
That said, I would like to have a mix of more-experienced and less-experienced players, so that someone who maybe hasn't had much of a chance to play the system, can get to experience it.
Also I would like a mix of ppl old and new to GP.
So if it comes down to having to make "cuts", all of that will play a role in selections.
I will only be accepting ppl that voted in the Interest Check thread (you DO NOT have to have voted for Force Users to be eligible tho).
Content: Lines, Veils, and X-Cards:
By default, as a storyteller, I tend toward pretty PG-13 stuff anyway, unless I'm playing something that is explicitly NOT that. And as a Star Wars story, this would be pretty explicitly just that (PG-13).
The exception being the 3rd pitch, could have some harsher language and darker content like torture and general abject cruelty and violence. But still short of graphic or excessive depictions and would still stay well away from any sort of sexual content, violent or not.
We would have a more specific conversation RE: safety tools L/V/Xs before beginning play within the game forums.
Okay on to the (hopefully) fun part.
THE PITCH(ES):
I have 3 ideas that I'm ready to roll with, I think I've ran a version of all 3 of them here on GP before, however none of them got to run their full course (my life has been a bit chaotic for the past, oh, 7 years or so with job changes, employer acquisitions, and re-orgs and things), and I'll be changing some of the details.
(I know some of you who voted on the Interest Check have played in earlier iterations of these campaign ideas, feel free to address that or not in your application post/reply...)
1. Order 66: Set in the more-or-less canon timeline/universe but incorporating Legends elements, the players would choose to portray either a Force User (like a Youngling, Padawan, or Jedi Service Corpsman, etc) or a non-Force Sensitive direct ally and partner of said Force User(s) - could be a droid or some sort of "Attaché" that would travel with the Jedi or even conceivably a Clone Trooper that somehow lost or resisted their Order 66 programming, and we would play out a speculative/non-canon scenario beginning right before Order 66, carrying on through it's "execution", and then beyond. Focusing on telling the story of how such a group might survive that ordeal and what they would do after. Could be sandbox-ish if the group has something specific they'd like to see their characters do, though I would have a more linear plot prepped too.
2. The Je'daii: Set in the Legends timeline of Dawn of the Je'daii, the campaign would take place primarily on Tython, all players would portray Jedaii Journeyers who are beginning their Great Journey to the nine Jedaii Temples. And the storytelling would focus on the Exciting Adventures that might happen at a couple of those Temples. This campaign would be a deep dive into what I consider cool niches of Legends lore, regarding the history of not only the Jedi but the whole Galaxy, and it frankly may not be super recognizable as the Star Wars that most ppl know and love. Aside from the Force. Could be closer to a fantasy game vibe really...
3. Inquisitorious: Set in a timeline with a mix of Legends and canon, the campaign would begin on Prakith at the Citadel of the Inquisitorious - so probably post-Order 66 but pre-BBY 0. The players would portray non-Jedi Force Users who have been conscripted into the Inquisitorious training program unwillingly, and seek to escape it. The focus here would be on the struggle between Light and Dark as well as some delves into the niches of Force lore, as well as ultimately the escape and what happens afterward. This premise I don't have fully fleshed out in my brain, so if this is what interests people, I'd have to spend a bit of extra time figuring out what some of the gameplay is about before the "we've escaped!" part...
But, so, yea?! Those are the ideas.
Anyone like the sound of any of that?
If so, please apply by replying to this thread with your experience using the FFG Star Wars RPG system, as well as which premise interests you (if multiple sound appealing, please only choose 1 to highlight).
I will start a game using the campaign premise that reaches the critical mass of players (4) mentioned above who meet the experience requirements (if necessary, making cuts as described above).
If multiple game concepts reach that critical mass, I will just have to choose one, as I am only going to pick up one game at this time.
Thank you for taking the time to check this out.
I look forward to our future adventures!

P.S. all that said, if we have a bunch of ppl who have no experience with the system but want to learn it, I may explore my ability to run a scaled-back, beginner friendly game in the future. So if you're sitting there with zero knowledge or experience with this system but want to play it, and are vfeeling left out, let me know you're out there and maybe in the future I'll be able to start something up for you and those in your same boat
