[Recruitment] Force & Destiny - FFG Star Wars RPG

Be sure to read and follow the guidelines for our forums.

Jun 9, 2025 3:21 pm
Greetings Gamers Planers,

I am looking for 4 players for a Force & Destiny game, using the FFG Star Wars RPG system.

Game Duration: more than a one shot, less than a full campaign. Maybe around 10 sessions if this were a real life game? I would expect this game to run for a year or two IRL

Posting Frequency: I would look for an average of 4 quality/contributing posts a week. I am not active on weekends, nor most Fridays.

Player Experience: in my experience this system works best in PbP when the players are at least somewhat experienced with the system. Adjudicating the narrative symbols can require a bit of back and forth, which I'd like to avoid, because it can absolutely destroy the game's pacing, so I need players that understand their options and can anticipate them, and that can proactively address and account for this dynamic in their posts, so as not to slow down the game.

I ask that, at the least, anyone who applies to the game has at least read one of the core rulebooks, and would profess to understand the core mechanics.

That said, I would like to have a mix of more-experienced and less-experienced players, so that someone who maybe hasn't had much of a chance to play the system, can get to experience it.

Also I would like a mix of ppl old and new to GP.

So if it comes down to having to make "cuts", all of that will play a role in selections.

I will only be accepting ppl that voted in the Interest Check thread (you DO NOT have to have voted for Force Users to be eligible tho).

Content: Lines, Veils, and X-Cards:
By default, as a storyteller, I tend toward pretty PG-13 stuff anyway, unless I'm playing something that is explicitly NOT that. And as a Star Wars story, this would be pretty explicitly just that (PG-13).

The exception being the 3rd pitch, could have some harsher language and darker content like torture and general abject cruelty and violence. But still short of graphic or excessive depictions and would still stay well away from any sort of sexual content, violent or not.

We would have a more specific conversation RE: safety tools L/V/Xs before beginning play within the game forums.

Okay on to the (hopefully) fun part.

THE PITCH(ES):

I have 3 ideas that I'm ready to roll with, I think I've ran a version of all 3 of them here on GP before, however none of them got to run their full course (my life has been a bit chaotic for the past, oh, 7 years or so with job changes, employer acquisitions, and re-orgs and things), and I'll be changing some of the details.

(I know some of you who voted on the Interest Check have played in earlier iterations of these campaign ideas, feel free to address that or not in your application post/reply...)

1. Order 66: Set in the more-or-less canon timeline/universe but incorporating Legends elements, the players would choose to portray either a Force User (like a Youngling, Padawan, or Jedi Service Corpsman, etc) or a non-Force Sensitive direct ally and partner of said Force User(s) - could be a droid or some sort of "Attaché" that would travel with the Jedi or even conceivably a Clone Trooper that somehow lost or resisted their Order 66 programming, and we would play out a speculative/non-canon scenario beginning right before Order 66, carrying on through it's "execution", and then beyond. Focusing on telling the story of how such a group might survive that ordeal and what they would do after. Could be sandbox-ish if the group has something specific they'd like to see their characters do, though I would have a more linear plot prepped too.

2. The Je'daii: Set in the Legends timeline of Dawn of the Je'daii, the campaign would take place primarily on Tython, all players would portray Jedaii Journeyers who are beginning their Great Journey to the nine Jedaii Temples. And the storytelling would focus on the Exciting Adventures that might happen at a couple of those Temples. This campaign would be a deep dive into what I consider cool niches of Legends lore, regarding the history of not only the Jedi but the whole Galaxy, and it frankly may not be super recognizable as the Star Wars that most ppl know and love. Aside from the Force. Could be closer to a fantasy game vibe really...

3. Inquisitorious: Set in a timeline with a mix of Legends and canon, the campaign would begin on Prakith at the Citadel of the Inquisitorious - so probably post-Order 66 but pre-BBY 0. The players would portray non-Jedi Force Users who have been conscripted into the Inquisitorious training program unwillingly, and seek to escape it. The focus here would be on the struggle between Light and Dark as well as some delves into the niches of Force lore, as well as ultimately the escape and what happens afterward. This premise I don't have fully fleshed out in my brain, so if this is what interests people, I'd have to spend a bit of extra time figuring out what some of the gameplay is about before the "we've escaped!" part...

But, so, yea?! Those are the ideas.

Anyone like the sound of any of that?

If so, please apply by replying to this thread with your experience using the FFG Star Wars RPG system, as well as which premise interests you (if multiple sound appealing, please only choose 1 to highlight).

I will start a game using the campaign premise that reaches the critical mass of players (4) mentioned above who meet the experience requirements (if necessary, making cuts as described above).

If multiple game concepts reach that critical mass, I will just have to choose one, as I am only going to pick up one game at this time.

Thank you for taking the time to check this out.

I look forward to our future adventures!

-em

P.S. all that said, if we have a bunch of ppl who have no experience with the system but want to learn it, I may explore my ability to run a scaled-back, beginner friendly game in the future. So if you're sitting there with zero knowledge or experience with this system but want to play it, and are vfeeling left out, let me know you're out there and maybe in the future I'll be able to start something up for you and those in your same boat

I'm very interested and I have played a lot of Edge of the Empire when it came out, and I have several of the source books ready at hand.
If I had to order the three pitches I would say 2.1.........3. Je'daii and order 66 both have strong appeal. The Inquisitorious could also be interesting, but not compared to the two others.

The Je'daii
Quote:

"There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no fear; there is power.
I am the heart of the Force.
I am the revealing fire of light.
I am the mystery of darkness
In balance with chaos and harmony,
Immortal in the Force."
―The Je'daii Code
True, this setting could feel like any space fantasy setting, but so could the Old Republic. And that still kept it Starwars charms.
From what I am reading about the Je'daii order, and your pitch, this could be the force mystery adventure I always wanted to explore.

Order 66
I just left a starwars game using the FRK rules, it was way to rules-light for me to play within comfortably.

I'm not done tell Voss'es story. She was Gunned down as the clones got their order 66. Overwhelmed by blaster fire, she was blown to bits. But a fellow padowan dropped her into a Baktatank and had the medical droid "fix her" to the best of its abilities. It used droid parts to replace her legs and arm.
[ +- ] Gunned down
[ +- ] Baktatank
[ +- ] Happy droid parts
[ +- ] Figthing stanse
She is struggling with Body Dysmorphia & Identity Fracture
OOC:
She struggles deeply with how she looks and feels in her own skin. Her cybernetics are constant reminders of what she lost—her body, her past, her sense of self.
"When I close my eyes, I still expect to feel fingers. Not metal."
and a healthy serving of Survivor’s Guilt
OOC:
Voss constantly questions why she was saved and not others—especially her master or fellow Padawans. This guilt can make her reckless, overly self-sacrificing, or resistant to help.
"I was the weakest one there. Why am I the one still breathing?"
... all whiles running for her life

I'd be interested in Order 66 or the Inquisitorius mostly. What would be your feelings on non Force using PCs?
Jun 9, 2025 5:14 pm
I am very interested. I've played 2 short campaigns in real life with Edge of the Empire and a Age of Rebellion PbP, though never tried the force part of the rules very much (one of the players in one of the campaigns was a force user, but never unlocked more than one power).

Any of the campaigns sounds interesting, though I would order them in the order you presented them. 1-2-3 in priority.

I'm interested, I've played the ffg star wars system three times in pbp, although they weren't very long campaigns. I wouldn't say I know everything about the system but I have a good understsnding of the core mechanics.

All three pitches sound interesting to me but Order 66 sounds the most appealing. However, I would be interested in playing in any of them.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I'll let this sit for a bit, I guess. See if anyone else who expressed interest in the system just hasn't found the Recruitment thread yet.

Maybe the campaign premises are a little bit too fringe?

A non-Force user would work for the Order 66 game only, so long as we have at least a couple Force users. But as indicated in the pitch, such a character would have to be pretty "fine tuned" to the narrative premise (which I'd be happy to work with a player on).

Though I would caution that statement with; the campaign was conceived of with Force users in mind, and many of the central plot elements have to do with the Force, which means a non-Force user could be kind of left out of some things/scenes.

I'm interested, but would let someone else have the spot. I know there's a slot of people interested in Star wars, So I hope it isn't the theme. Who doesn't want to be a space ninja-wizard?

I've only played an Edge of Empire one-shot, irl, so I'm not that experienced with the system.
I'm pretty close to being equally interested in The Inquisitorious and Order 66 pitches, with Order 66 maybe narrowly taking the lead. The Je'daii one isn't that far behind in third.

I'd really like to play. I love the Fantasy Flight system. Any of the three systems are fine, with Order 66 being my preference.

I do have some interest. I like Order 66 as well.

My system experience with the system I read the Force and Destiny book front to back, pre-Covid. DM'd a few in-person and over discord games with some friends. Played a few games on Gamersplane....all of this was essentially in 2018-2021 and I haven't touched the system since so may need some refreshing.

For my part in voting, I've read through Force & Destiny, though I'm no expert, as I've not really played through any campaign, so I don't know if that counts against me, but I did vote in the Interest Check. I'll certainly brush up as much as I can prior to start if I'm selected. Pitch 2, The Je'daii is my choice.

Hey there! Very, very interested. I'd love to play the Inquisitorium story!
Jun 12, 2025 7:47 pm
Thank you everyone for applying.

We've hit the critical mass for the Order 66 game, and so I have created the game forum, and have sent out invites.

I prioritized those who listed the Order 66 concept as their top choice for invites, as well as selling seeking a mix of experience with North both Gamers Plane and the FFG Star Wars system, as I said I would.

For those of you who do not receive an invite, two things:

1. The need for a list of players that can step in to play, if someone steps out, is very real. This is pbp after all. I would look to those who've chimed in here first.

2. I personally really love all of these campaign concepts as stories to explore, and so if once this game gets going and if I feel like I still have bandwidth, I would love to start up another one using a different one of these concepts. And I would come to this thread first to see who expressed interest in the other concepts as their top choice.

ALSO...

At this time, I would encourage anyone who finds this thread but missed the earlier parts of the discussion, including the Interest check, to continue to voice their interest in this system and these campaign concepts.

As energy from interested players gives me energy to GM.

So again thank you all for your time, and I hope to see you in game!

I can definitely step in as an alt if needed

Seconded 😀

I'm game to step in either for another theme or if someone steps out.

Either way, May the Force be With You.

Seems I need to check the Tavern forum more often than my weekly scan.

I'm most interested in the Order 66 game. My poor Padawan never quite gets off the ground.

I have played FFG Star Wars on GP, in a Clone Wars era game. I've played several Genesys games over the years on tabletop, and have run my own Edge of Empire / Force and Destiny game at the table for about six months (before two of the players decided to go back to college at the same time.)

So if you need someone who knows the system reasonably well, I'm here.

Let me know if you need me in the queue.

You do not have permission to post in this thread.
