As mentioned in recruitment Fungril-Druid who is a Flora expert. Going to try to finish the mechanical character creation tonight/tomorrow than start the edits for world building

I'm thinking goblin wizard / School of War travel-born? I forget the exact title. Or a sorcerer / primal again travel born.

The idea is someone who's family ran or operated one of the old land trade routes running from city x to ciity y but they got out of the family business.

Be a goblin, we can be related. :D

I'm going Goblin Seraph winged thingy, orderborne. Not sure which caste yet though.

Talin Windborne, Faerie (or "Faerie" possibly, foundling changeling sort of creature...) Rogue, probably Slyborne (though it mechanically isn't as obviously useful as some of the others, I think it fits the story best.)

As mentioned in the recruiting thread, Talin is a misfit. Not quite outcast in either Human or Faerie society but not entirely welcome, he's developed the skills to become self reliant. Despite being able to take care of himself, he craves the company (and validation) of others. He's not from the "Big City" but the town he grew up near has long since spilled out of it's walls and the Ruling Caste folks would like it to be a bigger deal (and the nearby Faerie and Elf clans would very much like it to not). Talin is not embraced by the highborn of either side (though the Faerie accept that he is one of them, the wings are a fact difficult to deny) but gets along well with the other misfits and the outcasts.

For experiences, I'm thinking something to represent being part of two worlds while being, at least partly, rejected by both. The other will most likely have to do with seeking a community to call his own. Those sound pretty similar, though, so I might need to think more on it.


If this sounds like it connects with anyone, let me know. I could see him knowing a Fungril Druid and maybe was their bridge to get more citified connections or things.

The ruling caste is living in the orderborn area, and Seraph naturally leans towards the Knights (Shieldsworn) We can make a final split of 3, with something like Vowlings, Bladewardens and Iron Companions or make some up. Nothing is written in stone, and I would love your input.

There's also a lot of calculations that look like they reference things but don't seem to be doing so correctly (I'm not fluent in the syntax yet). And the Damage section for the weapons looks like it's preset at the Action Roll, rather than the damage and I can't put it in.

As for Talin's Caste, I think from the human perspective he's:
Lowlies (Dustborn) – Latrine-cleaners, tanners, chimney sweeps. The invisible class.

Maybe slightly higher when viewed by the Faerie or Elves.

Okay, I have a quick but incomplete version of my character - Pixelmist Copperdust (Might change the name) Goblin Wizard - School of War / Wanderborne. I have no gear at the moment and no class cards but I'm working on that currently.

So my base abilities come out of the Domains Codex and Splendor so I'd like to discuss with others with those domains what they're taking so we don't overlap to much. So Seraph or Bard are the ones I share those Domains with.

I'm seraph, but haven't decided which cards to take yet either (or had much time to look over the rest of my character), so go for what you'd prefer, and I'll choose based on that. :)

My other one s Valour, I think, in case anyone has chosen that one - so again, go ahead and choose what you'd prefer, and I'll work around it. Some overlap isn't going to kill role protection.

Rogue's domains are Midnight and Grace. Grace is shared with Bard and Midnight with Sorcerer. As currently statted, I've got two from Midnight and none from Grace.

I was looking at Mending Touch, just as a utility kind of thing but I’m more interested in Bolt Beacon. If you wish both I have other options not that two Mending Touches wouldn’t be awful.

My Codex options are equally solid.

We just get two cards from our domains too start with, yes, and can choose both from one domain, or one form each? If so, I can always choose two valour ones (the armour one and forceful push, maybe) so you can have the splendour ones if they're the ones you want. :)

I think of those, he'd be bladewarden, but following up from the noodling I did in the recruitment post, his community was wiped out, and that's where he had respect due to his caste, so I'm happy to go with orderborne but now has a lower caste to reflect his unhappy past and lesser status elsewhere.

You can take 2 from 1 or 1 from each. Make the character you want to make, I was thinking the Heal would be useful for the party but don’t let me influence your decision.

I get a limited heal from my class too, so feel free to take that heal if you want to. :)

Okay I think I'm more or less done except the Domain Cards and my base gear, because I can't find the Character Guide or something like that. Once I have a better grasp on who the others are I'll start asking my linking questions of a few of you.

There's something that feels off in the weapon bit but I might have fixed it, I don't know. I chose two primaries and had change one to a secondary. Silly me.

Color is the opposite of shadow and the shadows are my friend. There is a time and place for rainbows, but work gets done in the dark.

There's a sadness in both portraits, but especially the second. I like that the first one shows a bit of how your magic looks and the strap makes it look more like a traveling character.

man I am having a hard time finding character art for Daedale. Fungril haven't been a thing long enough for this haha

Just get a picture of a cottagecore type from a renfair. We can adapt to it being a teenage girl with a mushroom hat instead of a Fungril Adventurer! You can search for Myconids (the old DnD mushroom race) though most likely won't find a druid.

Use an AI generator and say something like deathcap mushroom man druid and see what it gets you.

You got all the calculations to work correctly on your character sheet, but on mine it has a lot of +a, +s, etc... and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. The way it's set up matches the BBCode guide.

That’s adding your stat modifier. a=Agility, i=Int etc

But on mine it's not. It just shows the variables on the sheet even though it appears to me that it is set up correctly to define them. It literally sows the +a, +s etc as +a +s instead of the +1 -1 it should.

Change those letters to the letter of the stat that you need in that particular thing and it'll just pull that number automatically

That sounds like how it is set up, but for some reason it's not working right on this sheet, for me (It's clearly working for you). I looked at another character sheet I have from another game and it's set up the same (actually more complex with multiple variables being added) and it works. I'll keep poking at it.

Edit: I just tried pulling the line for Agility out of the table and put it at the very start of the character sheet and it worked properly, so there's nothing wrong with the syntax of the stats, but something is making it behave weirdly in place.

Ok. I've tamed the issue with the character sheet by rearranging the bits and putting them where they behave correctly since I can't figure out why they don't behave where they originally were. It's not as nice looking as what @runekyndig had created but it works. I've made it public now.

I love this take on the druid! This is now cannon, and it makes sense.
Druids have always been the keeper of balance between nature and civilisation in every setting I have seen. Most settings they are natures protectors as civilisation is pushing nature back. This setting, its the other way around, nature is pushing civilisation back, and druids are working towards a balance.

Hi @Bullseyepsa I have taken the liberty of correcting your sheet so it works again. But if you don't approve, the code has been saved in your Background and Notes and can easily be restored.The main thing you are missing are your experiences, and I know these are hard to get down but try.
Is Talin a sneaker, a backstabber a lockpicker or what kind of rouge is he? This is expressed in the experience name. There is suggestions in the book and character sheet.
If you later find out that the wording of your experiences don't feet exactly, I am open to some ingame-correction. That goes for all of my players

Talin is a mixed Ancestry. What is he a mix of?

This is where I really enjoys all the different sketches they have made of the acestry

A rogue could have an experience like, "Deft Fingers" that give you a +2 to picking pockets and manipulating complex objects. Merchant Princess popped into my brain instantly and the other one, "Eye Spy" completely involved a lot more handwringing before it appeared in my brain.

I've got a domain card that helps with that, so I think the experiences will focus on other areas. Hope to have something figured out today.

He's a Changeling - A mix of human and Faerie (how that happened is a mystery, he showed up in the village as a newborn without anyone being seen coming or going. No human has ever claimed him or even acknowledged him). Such are not unheard of butvery rare. Almost all of the Clan are Faerie and the few that are not are adopted in, usually after some great service to the village.

Heh. Perhaps, but it's not me. Alright, so... I'm thinking:

"Goliath" Warrior - Highborne (Shieldsworne)
(Half human/Half giant)

A lineage of nobility/knights, concerned about the protection of the common people and the prosperity of their city.

Keeping it simple while I learn the system, and figured the group may want a front liner. 🤷‍♂️ Big sword, big shield, heavy armor, and hopefully hits hard.

I'm totally open to feedback though, so hit me with whatever you've got.

Quick question: Bare Bones gives me a base level of armour if I don't wear armour - since a shield adds to armour, does it count as armour for that condition, or since it's a secondary weapon, does it count as a weapon instead of armour?

Also, Knowledge is misspelled on the charsheet. :D

Right, my character is mostly done - I haven't chosen weapons yet, as that depends partly on the answer to the armour question above, and partly on what I'll go with for -maybe a shield and mace, maybe a great weapon of some sort. Going to go with Bare Bones and Forceful Push for starting cards, I think.

Guesclinbert the Raven is a winged goblin, a rarity, and thus marked as the community's guardian defender. The last survivor of Gobtown, he was sent off on a mission by the community's seer, and returned after two weeks away to find the community destroyed. There was little but ashes left where once the town stood, and no sign of who or what had destroyed the place. After several days spent burning what remained of the corpses of the place in a great pyre, Guesclinbert replaced the white robes that signified his office with mourning black, and set forth in search of who - or what - had done this.

He has many questions - did the Seer know, and send him away on purpose, so that one of the community would survive to tell others of what happened, and to bring vengeance on the defiler? What happened exactly? Are there any other survivors?

One question that he is not concerned with is what he will do once his vengeance has been satisfied.



Guesclinbert is scrawny - he's been neglecting food and his health since finding the destroyed community - but driven by vengeance that fills him with power. Rather than an angel, he's more fallen angel at this point. Unlike most seraphs, he isn't devoted to a god - at least, that he knows of - but was instead marked from birth by his wings as a protector of the community. After the carnage, he has found that he retains his powers of healing and warfare, though he is driven more now by revenge. The ashes he carries are what remains of his community and act as a reliquary, the focus of his powers.

He doesn't communicate with any gods, but often sees the ghosts of his community, who do talk to him. When they aren't screaming, anyway. They remain silent on what happened, which makes Guesclinbert think that they're just figments of his imagination, but it must be his subconscious, since they often remind him of things that happened far in his past that he'd otherwise forgotten. Either that or they are real.

I agree. Shield are "secondary weapons" and not armor

I'm listening to critical role, the age of an Umbra, dagger heart series. And we were talking about experiences earlier, one of their experiences in the group is "Boom, motherfucker." I don't know what it does.

It's fun and a good intro to the mechanics of the game.

I'm pretty sure my dad would have agreed too. After his brain tumour, he did crosswords to try to regain his vocabulary / memory, but wasn't shy of creating new words that fit if he didn't know the answer. :D

I'm good for contacts with anyone. He could easily have joined the merchant caravan after or before finding out his community had been destroyed, for example.

Do we want to do those kinds of questions in the open and role play ignorance or do them in private messaging? For some questions it's not an issue, but one of the example questions for the Rogue is something like (book not in front of me): What secret did you share that you keep from the group?

I'm fine with either. :)

Maybe for anything "That you keep from the group" we could use a private message in the channel. So we can include Rune and the other person with. Everything else seems pretty open.

Oh I'm going to modify my answers to a one of the questions I was asked as I have had time to sleep on it.

Talin - You asked me to obtain a "Jar of Wind" from the market once it had been set up in your home town. We were young and stupid and I did what you asked and you shook the jar vigorously before opening it to see if you could figure out what was inside. Unfortunately the jar contained a now very annoyed air elemental, rather small, which tornadoed its way around the market knocking over a number of stalls and people before it escaped. We're still not sure why someone would put an air elemental in a jar.

I'm tempted to modify Guesclinbert's to him being an annoying if off tune whistler but I don't know how that'd work in the game. I think him being all wingie around me is probably easier. I bump Pixel with my wing, I stretch my wings out in a majestic fashion and fluff my feathers.

To be fair, I thought it was me being old and technologically impaired. Turns out it's both of us. :)

You are already an odd group with several winged humanoids, a very rare sight.

By keeping your relationships secret, you remove the possibilities for others to play into them, but I understand you want keep something less visible. There the spoiler tags, that valdattaMadun are using, ideal.

Not that one winged goblin isn't scary. There's actually a way to do that mixed race if you go into that void thing I linked before because there is a race that they play testing that has wings. It's basically like the Amar from dungeon dragons.

Hey, quick question because I'm... unsure... do we really just pick whatever tier 1 armor we want?

Full plate, because I said so? 😳

Tier 1 full plate is a significant trade off. You'll get hit more frequently but take damage less often. It's also a -1 to all Agility rolls, which could be a big issue. It's not the tank suit it is in 5e.

Yeah, it's more just the money thing that throws me. Full plate is expensive, as it takes a lot of time and skill to craft and has to be tailored for the owner. Hard to wrap my head around a starting character just... having that.

The primary/secondary weapon thing is what's messing with me from a prohibitive standpoint. The SRD says you can pick a one handed primary and a secondary, OR a two handed primary.

But I guess not a two handed primary and a secondary?

The game prioritizes narrative over money management. If you don't feel like it's appropriate to have the plate, don't take it, but it's allowed. There are several abilities in the game that break inventory management too, so it's best not to think about that part too hard.

That's fair. I'll have to buy a shield at some point.

@MaJunior I have approved your character, but there should be a +2 stat and a secondary weapon

The +2 stat (Agility) currently has a -1 from the armor, leaving it at 1.

Also, I can certainly take a secondary weapon if you'll allow it but I didn't because the SRD said for starting gear you take either a two handed primary weapon OR a one handed primary weapon and a secondary weapon. I took the two handed primary weapon.

If I take a secondary weapon, it will be a tower shield, reducing my Agility further, to 0.
