This thread will be a place for ret-cons of things that we decide happened in down time that was skipped. Things like discussions of battle strategies or training montages.

We'll start with Rhiv giving, in character, his pep talk that inspired the group before breakfast with the king.

"Friends---I know I have bounced back and forth with how I refer to each of you over the last several weeks--but I feel like the challenges of the last week have truly solidified my respect and even affection for each of you. In different ways of course." I give a wide grin to Harper. "The friends of my adversity I shall always cherish more than those who are only ready to enjoy with me the sunshine of prosperity. While we prepare to face the King--a king who holds the keys to our very life and death and potentially, the continued existence of this world as we know it, know that I am proud to call you that.

Combat makes extremely heavy demands on a warrior’s strength and nerves and for this reason, we must make heavy demands on ourselves in non-combat exercises such as what we are about to face.

I contend that fortitude in the face of death is but a test — the supreme and final test if you will — of character. Courage cannot truly be judged apart from danger. A man cannot be selfish in peace and yet be unselfish in war. Character, is a habit, the daily choice of right and wrong; it is a moral quality which grows to maturity slowly and is not suddenly developed in the face of death. Challenges have no power to transform, they merely exaggerate the good and evil that is in us, till it is plain for all to read; they cannot change, they expose.

We know not what he may throw against us, or the challenges we may face but we must win the King to ourselves and bring his power to bear against this Thalnoth. There are three kinds of people: Those who are immovable, those who are moveable, and those who move them. We must be the last of these. To do this will take cunning, strength, and honesty. Speak the truth and speak to his soul. Your days are numbered. Use them to throw open the windows of your soul to the sun. If you do not, the sun will soon set, and you with it."
