As Xalvador's mighty shout reverberates through the entire cabin, the swarm of approaching bats eddies in confusion. They begin swirling back down the corridor from which they came...quickly followed by Xed, Iolgur and Maru. Iolgur's bolt flies through the creatures without doing any damage.

Everyone except Xalvador has run into a maelstrom of bats (take 1 piercing damage on your turn, and you can't see much of anything).

Shrugging as the rest of his companions run forwards into the swarm Xalvador starts walking forwards, keeping up the shouting and general growling noises to keep the bats at bay.

Chanler decides it's probably best to follow everyone else, and does so while just kinda flailing Morak's sword in front of him. (far enough away from the rest of the party of course)

Iolgur runs head first into the sward of bats. A thought crosses his mind: do bats fear fire?

The bats continue to swirl away from Xalvador, but he can only move slowly forward in this fashion.
Meanwhile, Xed steps into open air, and only her catlike reflexes allow her to spin in place and grab hold of the edge of a rocky protrusion as she falls. The bats continue to swirl around her, indifferent to her fate.
Chanler madly flails his sword around, somehow managing not to hurt anyone.Iolgur charges into the swarm, thinking madly. He recalls that bats are indeed afraid of fire, inasmuch as they will avoid it when they can. Unlike woodland creatures, they have less to fear from natural fires.

Wings and tiny furry bodies go flying as Maru slices a swath of destruction through the swarm. Those in the immediate vicinity begin giving her a wider berth, but there are so many that she soon become surrounded again.

Qavez pulls on Chanler's shoulder. "Come on! Sticking around here between the bats and Xalvador's breath is too much to handle!" he says, trying to speak over the flapping wings and the warlock's shouts. Without waiting for a reply, Qavez moves back down the tunnel towards Xalvador, trying to dodge anything he might encounter.

Qavez is able to quickly leave the swarm behind as he enters the relatively clear space around Xalvador.

The bats continue to avoid the space immediately around him, but they are not settling and if anything, appear more agitated.
