"Ah, Indeed. I've heard of those. Reputable bunch aren't they?" Bastien smirks at this, while he wraps a cut. He takes out the small rum bottle again, and gives it to the Captain. "Have a swig for the pain." Again, in an absent minded and calming tone, he remarks. "Based out of Kap-Kalfu, aren't they? Why would they be interested in whalers? They trying to set up a monopoly?"

Satterson nods and waits for the cleanup to finish before rounding up some guys and going to find the Doctor and First Mate hoping the integration is done. "Someone needs to escort him over, also we might find some clues as to why some was needing him to do this... plus there needs to be tribute for returning him alive to his ship after attacking us... Says the captain." he explains.

The enemy captain turns his head away as Bastien offers his flask stubbornly refusing to respond to any further antagonism. The only sign of any reaction he gives is a slight cock of his eyebrow at Sattersons comments but other that that he remains steadfast.

OOC:
So what would you guys like to do next? The Diamant is still tied to the enemy vessel and you have all of the enemies you are aware of secured (no one has searched the enemy vessel as yet)

Once the others are done Satterson suggests a guard on the pirates and investigation of the pirate ship is in order.
OOC:
I guess a more extensive search of the ship is needed.

Llorenco agrees. While his duties need doing here, his eyes keep flicking to the enemy ship. "The answers we need will only set sail aboard her, I be thinking. Let us see what she whispers."
Jun 8, 2018 7:17 am
Packing away his gear, Bastien nods to Lorenco. "Do pirates keep logbooks? We should check what we can find in the Captain's quarters. Books, sea charts, notes."
Jun 8, 2018 12:48 pm
Satterson unfurls a large sack, "I have a general idea of the ship's layout... We'll inspect and take a few things to ask questions about like their food stores" he explains. On the way to board the other ship and away from the ears of pirates Satterson lets the others know, "Captain wants us to access their ship as well. Letting the pirates go and giving them back their ship are two different things. Finding out who hired them and what they've gotten from other whaling ships or which ones weren't hit might help."

If there's any pirates on the other ship Satterson will let them know this is okay with their captain since it's part of the deal for their freedom.

You all make short work of searching the ship. The hold contains a few barrels of grog, ammunition, crates of hard tack and half-rotten oranges and as you search through the crew berths you don't find much of any note. Satterson leads you all to the captains 'stateroom', little more than a private room with space for a hammock, a small desk and a strongbox. Searching through the captains effects you do find a number of papers.

Other than that the ship appears sound and your personal assesment is that it is still seaworthy.

Bastien sighs as he stows away his reading glasses and hands the note back to Satterson. "Seems like the story we got from crew and captain checks out. Seems like this 'Lotar Fuch' believes this mythical behemoth to be real." He frowns at the thought. "I'm intrigued by this 'artifact', however. It sound like something that should be properly catalogued for posterity instead of being dragged around in exotic environments."

"What are your take on this, fellows? What should we recommend to the captain?"

Satterson frowns and voices his concerns since the plan with the Kraken does not seem to be for the general good of the area really even without the thoughts of a double cross it seems plus the diea of controlling a Kraken just seems outlandish. Lothar Fuchs, his ship the Southern Star, and the one armed Eisen all sounded shady. On the bright side they have a means now to surprise The Southern Star possibly.

Llorenco grits his teeth and punches the wall. "Aye, we should speak to the Captain. 'Tis a fairy tale, mayhaps, but I think that we should recommend keeping an extra eye out for other privateers that may be about, scuttlin' honest folk."
Jun 12, 2018 6:27 am
Looking down and stamps his foot on the deck as to check it's solidity. "What about the 'prize'? Any reason to keep her around, or would we spread ourselves thin?"
Jun 12, 2018 11:58 am
"Captain wants the ship I think as compensation for the annoyance of the attack. Unless it's one step up from floating driftwood, food supplies look to be shite so they've been out for a bit."

After you finish searching the ship you continue your deliberations as you head back to the Diamant. In your absence it appears that several members of the enemy crew have signed on under Captain Aipajawa (notably these all seem to be the ones who were most receptive to Bastiens ministrations) whilst a number of others are being loaded into one of the ships boats with a small amount of water. You also see the enemy captain in irons being led below decks.

Captain Aipajawa catches sight of you all as you come aboard and she waves you all over "Well, what did you find? Is she still sea worthy?"
Jun 18, 2018 2:48 pm
"The ship will keep... as for the rest..." Satterson reports before his voice trains off and he looks to the other two wondering who wanted to tell the captain the other news...

Llorenco sends some of the crew to get the grog, ammunition, and hardtack. "If any that grog is spoiled by touching yer lips, I'll strip yer hides with a whip I make of yer teeth!"

"Maybe we should sit and discuss this, if yer don't mind," he says to the Captain, indicating the paperwork and eyeing the door to the captain's 'office'.

She nods and leads the way to her ‘cabin’. The room is quite small but affords the captain some privacy, a definite luxury on a ship this size. Asides from a hammock that is currently not strung the room has a small desk and a chest for the captains personal effects which she promptly sits on leaving the rest of you to stand taking up most of the rest of the space. As the door closes she nods to you all "Well, let’s be having it then"

Bastien clears his throat gently. "They were hunting whalers, on contract, to keep anyone else from hunting the rumored mythical beast. The Kraken. Seems like they were hired by the Atabean Trading Company, someone by the name Lothar Fuchs." He looks over at Lorenco and shrugs as to ask 'anything more to add', then remembers himself and gestures to Cristian. "Mr. Satterson has Captain Fallaci's papers. The deal is detailed there."
