Lowering the spyglass, Bastien makes a slight smile. In any case this should prove interesting.

His booming voice shows the passion for the potential of discovery ahead. "This is the moment that proves our resolve. We may very well see something today, that very few have seen. Something that will define us for the rest of our lives. Treasure this moment, for this will be the making of us all!"

An anticipating grin breaks out on his face as he raises the spyglass once more.
OOC:
Joie de Vivre; Lorenco and Satterson can count all dice that roll equal to or under his Skill on their next roll as 10s.

Wits3+Notice3+Flair

Edit:
Three raises: (6,8), (8, 9), (9, 8)
One left over: 4

As the good doctors words reach your ears you feel a buoy in your spirits and even the storm seems to lessen somewhat as the aptly named Tempest cuts through the rough waves like a knife to get into position.
OOC:
Ok, with Bastiens Joie de Vivre I make the rolls lay out as follows with everyone having used a HP:

Satterson (Warfare 2) - 4, 2 10, 8, 6, 7, 9, 1 10, 3, 5 - Five raises (10), (10), (5, 4, 3), (6, 9), (8, 7), no remainders
Llorenco (Sailing 2) - 1 10, 4, 9, 1 10, 8, 4, 1 10, 4 - Five raises (10), (10), (10), (4, 4, 4), (8, 9), no remainders
Bastien - 8, 9, 9, 8, 6, 8, 4 - Three raises: (6,8), (8, 9), (9, 8), one remainder (4)

Everyone happy with that?

As the Tempest slices through the waves towards the Southern Star you can make out the enemy captain directing the crew who start pouring buckets of some sort of bait over the side. As the water around the enemy vessel turns crimson a pair of enormous tentacles erupt out of the water rapidly reaching the height of the top of the Southern Star's main mast....and they keep going, reaching impossibly high into the sky before crashing against the ship. The one armed captain seems to direct his crew to try and see off one of the tentacles whilst he lunges forwards and drives a harpoon through the other, pinning it to the deck. As he stands next to the now restrained tentacle you see him pull something out of a pouch on his belt that is glowing a sickly purple colour.

Satterson - From your exposed position in the crows nest you feel the sting of the driving rain as it lashes against you. Looking about you briefly catch sight of the Diamant as a flash of lightning illuminates the sky. She seems to have encountered another tentacle and is being rocked about whilst trying to bring her guns to bear against the Southern Star. Looking down into the sea around the Tempest you think you can almost see something else moving beneath the waves....something big.
OOC:
Whatever the enemy captain is doing to the tentacle has made it lose it's remaining raises and all of his are tied up with what he's doing....you all have the distinct impression that it's not a great idea to let him finish.

Satterson and Llorenco are up!

Raises
Satterson - 5
Llorenco - 5
Tentacle 2 - 5 4 (engaged with the Southern Star)
Tentacle 3 - 4
Bastien - 3
Enemy Captain - 6 0
Tentacle 1 - 5 0 (Pinned to the deck of the Southern Star)

Remnant says:
OOC:
Since it's been a minute any risks, opportunities, etc?
OOC:
Ack! Yes, forgot that bit. Here you go:

Opportunities:
• Spend a Raise to Cross the T and cause a Critical Hit to the Southern Star.
• Spend a Raise to grab onto one of the Kraken’s Tentacles. Why would someone do something so crazy? Grabbing the Tentacle doubles the next instance of Wounds that you deal to the Kraken or the Tentacle, but you take 1 Dramatic Wound afterward as the Kraken flings you away.
• Spend a Raise to use the boarding grapples on the Tempest to attach to the Southern Star. This creates a permanent Opportunity in the scene that anyone can use to move between the two Ships. Anyone can spend a Raise instead to destroy this Opportunity, trapping everyone on their respective Ships unless another method of crossing is created.
• Spend a Raise to load and fire chainshot at the Kraken’s Tentacles. Besides inflicting wounds upon the Kraken it entangles two of the Tentacles. The Kraken disentangles itself in 2 Actions, and cannot attack until it does so. If badly injured, it may submerge to reengage later.

Consequences:
• All players will take 3 wounds from small arms fire at the end of the round (each raise spent to deal with this reduces the wounds by 1)
• Spend a Raise to not get knocked overboard as the Kraken tosses the ship around
Aug 28, 2018 2:12 pm
Sattersons from his vantage above starts barking out details about the waters in the storm, the mad look in his eyes letting everyone know he's attempting to get their ship to Cross the T and cripple the Southern Star betraying him to still be a naval sailor.
OOC:
About the 3 wounds consequence would that be considered from Brute squads? *eyes Riot Breaker*
Aug 28, 2018 2:52 pm
Llorenco yells for the boarding party to prepare grapples and drives the ship through the chop. "Raise the mainsail, tie it for fast release! Grapples away! Keep Southern Star on us so the Diamant can whale the kraken!"
OOC:
Spending a raise for grapples.

OOC:
Tenacles are up, wondering how they will undulate this round...
Aug 29, 2018 12:49 pm
At Satterson's shouted directions from the crows nest the Tempest closes quickly on the Southern Star, the enemy ship making no real efforts to move away being too tied up dealing with the Kraken. Moving across the stern the cannons of the Tempest open up, tearing into the enemy ship doing significant damage (1 Raise from Satterson to Cross the T).

As the ship rocks from the salvo it swings to port coming along side the Southern Star, the crew scrambling about the rigging trimming the sails as per Lloernco's orders. "NOW!" Llorenco shouts to the crew manning the grapple launchers. As they dig into the enemy vessel the two ships crash together (1 Raise from Llorenco for the grapples), the crew on both sides staggered momentarily.

As you all regain your footing you can see the one armed enemy captain has directed some of their crew to help restrain the tentacle he had previously pinned and he seems to be holding some sort of Syrneth artifact over it. "KEEP IT STILL!" he yells out, the Eisen accent thick in his voice "IF IT GET'S LOOSE I'LL HAVE YOUR HIDES!". The two tentacles that remain unbound come crashing down, one against each vessel (Each vessel takes a point of damage).

As the ships rock about the enemy crew ready weapons to repel boarders, the odd crack of small arms fire starts punctuating the air as the crew's start to trade shots with on another.

OOC:
There are 4 x Strength 5 Brute Squads currently on deck of the Southern Star, 1 of them is tied up assisting the captain with the ritual he's doing but the other three are lurking about. You have 2 x Strength 5 Brute squads aboard the Tempest that are free to do whatever you want (ordering them to attack the enemy Brutes will not require any raises, getting them to do something else is an option but you may need to spend some depending on what you're thinking).
Remnant says:
About the 3 wounds consequence would that be considered from Brute squads? *eyes Riot Breaker*
The damage is more from incidental sources such as stray shots or shrapnel than directly the Brutes but I like where you're thinking so let's say Satterson can spend 1 Raise to reduce that damage by 2 (up to you how he goes about that

Satterson and Llorenco up again!

Raises
Satterson - 5 4
Llorenco - 5 4
Tentacle 2 - 4 3 (engaged with the Southern Star)
Tentacle 3 - 4 3 (engaged with the Tempest)
Bastien - 3
Enemy Captain - 6 0
Tentacle 1 - 5 0 (Pinned to the deck of the Southern Star)

"Quintanillas, we need to stop that Eisen sod off the deck and away from the beast. Load some chain shot!" Satterson yells as he dives down onto a rope sliding down looking more circus acrobat than large sailor. Landing he gets in front of the cannon and grunts shifting the aim to the one armed captain unexpectedly.
OOC:
Unsure if this is still within my approach I don't mind spending muscle raises, getting chain shot blasted at him will at least make him bite his tongue hopefully and gum up his magic voodoo creepy Eisen undead twerking trick.
Aug 29, 2018 3:15 pm
LLorenco agrees and yells back, "Take command of the deck squads, I want that ship disabled!"

He signals the deck cannon. "Chain shot, target their captain, I want that deck cleared off!"
OOC:
Spending a raise for an attack on the enemy captain with chain shot.
Aug 29, 2018 5:07 pm
OOC:
Two shots of chains on the captain meant for kraken sized beast... he ded or hopefully stops doing his bad juju thing to at least going 'Really?'. XD
Aug 31, 2018 2:16 pm
The twin crack of cannon fire erupt across the deck of the Southern Star, Clouds of smoke fill the air and you all wait impatiently for it to clear so you can see what carnage you have wrought. As it does you are filled with a momentary satisfaction, the area where the Eisen was stood is empty asides from a splash of blood across the deck and scrape marks from where the chains tore about....you satisfaction is however short lived as you see a one armed figure staggering from the side, single arm pressed against a vicious wound on his side. He yells something to the crew in Eisen and the amount of small arms fire being directed your way intensifies as he tries to get back to whatever ritual he is trying to accomplish.

As this is happening you can hear the crack of cannon fire coming from across the water where The Diamant is trying to deal with the body of the beast beneath the waves. The tentacle on the Southern Star crashes back onto the enemy vessel wheras the one on the Tempest jabs like a spear into the hold of the ship before erupting out from the middle of the deck.
OOC:
I'm happy that those Actions were inline with the spirit of your approach so they'll be a single raise each.

Whilst 2 cannons are indeed significant, and would really mess up a Brute Squad or three, our Villain is made of sterner stuff and takes a pair of Dramatic Wounds instead of being turned into mince! The gun crew will reload the cannons ready for next round (if we get that far)

Satterson, Llorenco, and Bastien are up!

Raises
Satterson - 4 3
Llorenco - 4 3
Bastien - 3
Tentacle 2 - 3 2 (engaged with the Southern Star)
Tentacle 3 - 3 2 (engaged with the Tempest)
Enemy Captain - 6 0
Tentacle 1 - 5 0 (Pinned to the deck of the Southern Star)
Sep 3, 2018 4:39 am
Llorenco continues to order chain shot loads. "Target that tentacle, I don't want that thing ripping us a new one!"

He keeps an eye on that hardy Eisen captain, and waits to see if the kraken body below gets too feisty.
Sep 3, 2018 1:20 pm
OOC:
The gun crew are reloading the cannons this round and will be ready to open fire again next (bit of a judgement call on my part to stop things just devolving into one side sitting and blasting the crap out of the other)
