After giving the order the reload and fire, Llorenco sees the tentacle is flopping around, so he dives from the railing to grab the tip, holding it so the chain shot will be able to sever it.
OOC:
Spending a raise to grab Tentacle 3.

OOC:
Can I spend a raise to figure out what the Eisen is doing? Arcane ritual or whatnot? Or see if I find the artifact, and guide someone there?
Sep 4, 2018 2:30 pm
"Looks like I'll need to give the Kraken a hand..." Satterson states taking to the grappling hooks in hopes of getting across to free the tentacle that's trapped for the ritual.
OOC:
(4) Spending a raise to create the opportunity of intership travel... when it's come back around (3) move across to free the tentacle the Eisen is working on. XD...
Sep 5, 2018 4:09 pm
Satterson leaps across the now quite narrow gap thanks to the grapples. Charging forwards he starts hacking away at the various ropes and other restraints that are binding the tentacle to the deck expecting it to rip free but nothing seems to happen.

Llorenco dives forwards grabbing a hold of the tentacle that has breached the deck of the Tempest trying to hold it in place for a retaliatory strike against it.

Bastien scrambles up some of the lower rigging to get a better view at what the Eisen is up to. From his elevated position he can see the enemy captain crouched at the far side of tentacle that Satterson is trying to hack free. He has the the artifact in his hand and it appears that he has dipped it into one of the wounds on the tentacle as it is now dripping with thick black blood that seems to be mingling with blood running off of the Eisens palm, the purple light emanating from the object appears to be reaching out into the tentacle and is causing it's struggles to weaken.

The other tentacles however are not so afflicted. The one Llorenco is currently wrapped around crashes against the deck of the Tempest but it's efforts seem somewhat restricted due to it's 'rider'. The other free tentacle crashes down against Satterson with a frightening amount of force.
OOC:
The ships were already together so you don't need to spend a raise on that but you were only on three raises at the start of the round anyway. The tentacle on Satterson is spending 2 raises on the attack, I'll be spending a Danger Point to use it's Powerful ability and double the damage to 4 in total (regular not dramatic). I'm treating the one that Llorenco is grappling with as having Pressure applied to it so it is also spending 2 raises but will only do 1 damage to the Tempest.

Just a reminder that the noted Consequences for this round are still in play and you are all down to your last 2 raises each. You'll have an opportunity to dictate what the Brute Squads on the tempest do at the end of the Round.

Everyone is up now and the enemies are all out of raises so feel free to use your remaining 2 at once.

Satterson assuming the limp tentacle may not even be attached looks at making sure the Eisen's good hand is free of anything before holding on for dear life.
OOC:
Could I make an attempt to get it out of his hand or throw it overboard? I'll spend the last raise to hold on since I don't want to see Davey too soon.
Sep 5, 2018 6:17 pm
"Blast you salt worms, fire already!" Llorenco struggles to hold onto the thrashing tentacle, hoping the chain shot doesn't gut him.
OOC:
Raise for a chain shot attack against the pinned tentacle. Second raise spent to avoid getting chucked asea.
Sep 5, 2018 7:57 pm
Bastien lowers the spyglass and yells to the others. "The artifact! The Eisen is using it to subdue the Beast somehow! Which means it's doing something, and we need to know what!" As a gunshot scrapes his side in a puff of cotton, leaving a slowly spreading crimson mark, he curses himself for making himself such an opportune target. Dropping down with his back to a barrel, he holds onto the railing with all his might as the ship is thrown around by the beast.
OOC:
Spending one raise to not be thrown overboard. Can I spend the last raise to either aid Satterson with getting to the artefact, or Lorenco dealing with the tentacle? If not I'll spend it to mitigate damage.
Sep 9, 2018 10:01 pm
Hearing Bastiens shout Satterson lunges towards the Eisen, his boot lashing out knocking the artifact clear of his hand. (Bastien spends a Raise to create an Opportunity for stopping the ritual, Satterson spends a Raise to use the Opportunity). The Eisen snarls something in his native tongue as he rips his saber clear of his belt and levels it at the Avalonian "It seems the bilge rats have come out to play. I can't see this taking long" (Activating the Villains Hubris to add a point to the danger pool)

At Llorenco's command the gun crew open up against the tentacle pinned to the deck. The repeated blasts sever through the trunk of the tentacle, as it flops to finally be still you all hear a phenomenal, warbling roar coming from beneath the ships as the head of the Kraken rams into the ship keels. Several men go flying overboard as the vessels are tossed about like children's toys. You all manage to grab something to stop yourselves being thrown over the side but you're all quite badly rattled in the process, the coupled with the odd hit you have all suffered so far during the engagement leaves you a tad rattled (You all take 3 damage from the Consequence for this round)
OOC:
Trying something a bit different with adding the raise expenditure mid-narrative, just let me know if you find it jaring or anything.

Approaches for the next round please peeps

Bastien has his eyes on the artifact, would Finesse+Theft or Athlethics be the right way to get over and snatch it up?

OOC:
I'd say if he was just wanting to run and grab it then it'd be Finesse+Athletics but if Bastien wanted to be a bit more circumspect about it then it'd be Finesse+Theft so depends how he's going about things really

Llorenco will order the cannon crew to start reloading chain shot, and attempt to deal with the bully squads on the Tempest, directing musket fire, and firing his own weapon at them as well. This wasn't in your opportunities list, but Llorenco is from La Bucca and chafes at the rules.
OOC:
Ignoring the exploding 10, I have: 5, 9, 1, 10, 6, 5, 9 = 10, 9+1,5+5,9+6 = 4, no remainder

Satterson steadying himself again lets out a baratone laugh moving to the end of the ship, "Rats! You're at sea! You fight BEASTS!" he roars wrenching free a rather large battered piece of the ships's taffrail staring down the Eisen. Rushing the man his advance to batter the man senseless by wooden bludgeoning with brute force to keep him distracted. Satterson's feet pounded across the deck with the experience of a weathered sailor and footing of someone decisive by their size for his mobility towering over the Eisen as he closed the distance he let out a warcry.

Is that to give them 3 bonus dice each (so spending 2 HP in total)? If so I'm fine with that

NPC Rolls

Rolls

Enemy Captain - (12d10)

Tentacle 2 (engaged with the Southern Star) - (10d10)

Tentacle 3 (engaged with the Tempest) - (10d10)

As you all steady yourselves from the ships being tossed about the two remaining tentacles come crashing down, one on each ship. As splinters and other wreckage fly about you all can hear the sound of something that sounds quite important being torn free from the Tempest (Both ships take 2 regular damage, this pushes the Tempest onto 1 point of Critical damage). The smell of smoke begins to reach you as some small fires begin to break out across the deck of both vessels. As Bastien glances about his eyes catch the purple glimmer of the still glowing artifact, still slick from the mix of the Kraken and Eisen's blood.

In the near distance you can faintly make out the shouts from Captain Aipajawa and the crack of cannon fire from the Diamant. It seems they have dealt with the tentacle that was holding them up and have moved to more fully engage the Kraken.
OOC:
Buying the remainder from both Satterson and Bastien (each gain 1 HP and Danger Pool increases by 2). The tentacles have both spent 2 raises on their actions, Llorenco and Satterson are now up!

Llorenco - 6 raises
Satterson - 5 raises
Tentacle 2 - 6 4 raises
Tentacle 3 - 6 4 raises
Enemy Captain - 4 raises
Bastien - 4 raises

Opportunities:
• Spend a Raise to grab onto one of the Kraken’s Tentacles. Why would someone do something so crazy? Grabbing the Tentacle doubles the next instance of Wounds that you deal to the Kraken or the Tentacle, but you take 1 Dramatic Wound afterward as the Kraken flings you away.
• Spend a Raise to load and fire chainshot at the Kraken’s Tentacles. Besides inflicting wounds upon the Kraken it entangles two of the Tentacles. The Kraken disentangles itself in 2 Actions, and cannot attack until it does so. If badly injured, it may submerge to reengage later.
• Spend a Raise to mix your blood with the Kraken’s on the surface of the artifact.

Consequences:
• Spend a Raise to not get knocked overboard as the Kraken tosses the ship around
• Spend a Raise to extinguish small fires threatening the safety of the Ship. These fires cause 3 hits to the Tempest, and crop back up from new sources at the beginning of each Round.

Llorenco fires his pistol at the crewmen on the other vessel, calling for the cannon to be reloaded with chainshot.
