My first choice of a class is Rogue. But I can choose something else :)

OK so er.. magic user, thinking wizard or sorcerer, I'll look up what's allowed in AL, guessing he's going to be ..... interesting... and quite possibly a massive coward.
EDIT: Would a tabaxi, wizard, criminal work? Sneaky, weak and picked on, stole a spell book, made it work and is trying to make a name for himself away from his criminal colleagues.

It's not an excellent array, but it's better than a standard. A little bit.

I'd like to make a lawful character so maybe a fighter or paladin, was thinking of going as a dwarf, of course if the group has a theme in mind I could easilly adapt

Hmmmmmm not particularly great anywhere but not terrible anywhere, kinda hard to decide what to play
EDIT 2: Might go with a Half Orc or Goliath Fighter or possibly Barbarian. Part of me is considering fighter because that Intelligence might make for a decent Eldritch Knight
Edit 3: Going with a Half Orc Fighter

TabaxI wizard
Rogue?
Dwarf Paladin/fighter?
Maybe I’ll switch up to a Druid then. Not sold on a race yet though.
Jorpus was a low level criminal, sick of his life, he lucks out and finds a wizards spellbook and beyond all hope gets it working. He's aiming to leave his old life behind. He's a coward, weak, and unlikable. He'll run at the first sign of trouble and if he can think of a way to take down an enemy that will not put himself in harms way, that's what he'll do.
I'm also going to change his name from Jorpus (which was given to him on the streets, and a DND beyond random name generator) because I constantly keep imaging a him as a sarcastic, slow speaking farmer and that if he was changing his old life he'd probably change his name when entering the King's Guard to hide his real identity.
I'll go with a traditional tribal sounding name, Shadow of the Mountain (Shadow).
Are we starting in the capital?
What is the class ierarchy? Nobles? Thief's Guilds?
Baron Kir'anor (half-elf) d'Nari owns a plot of land that includes a part of the river that is used as a trade route. A family castle oversees said river and a small town provides docks and other services to merchants and sailors.
Wife of the Kir d'Nari, Eloen, is an elven maiden, daughter of an Earl, but her family was much less fortunate with their wealth, so this union occured. Surprisignly, after few years both Kir and Ekke came to love each other and slowly their family started to grow.
Firstborn, Ruan, is currently at the age of 23 and is groomed to become an heir to his father. He also never forgets to remind everyone about this part. Politics and finances are his bread and butter. Not that anyone else is fighting him over them.
About four years after Ruan, Eloen gave birth to a boy that was named Lyss'amir.
One year later the twins, Caeda (girl) and Jerdar (not a girl), arrived. From the very young age Caeda embrassed her role of young noble daughter and begun training ... to be a wife. She did make some aggreements to her father about the future spouse, but the details are between them. Jerdar awakened arcane talent at age of five and was sent to a Magic School to learn the art.
All this brings us to the protagonist - Lyss'amir, or just "Lys" (pronounced as /lɪs/ as in "miss") for his friends. That boy was a troublemaker and trouble-seeker from the very begining. He spent a lot of his time in the port-town and got into all kinds of trouble with boys he was specificaly prohibited to socialize with. Between those activities amd getting punished for them, Lyss was taught some basic knowledge and skilll "appropriate for a noble". He was smart. And many teachers even called him "tallented". But just not very interested in "all that boring crap".
One evening, when Lyss was 15, he stumbled upon a body of a halfling. Covered in bruises and blood. That happened in the "Twilight District", the dark part of the town, so this wasn't something unusual. And Lyss might've just passed along if only he didn't hear a faint moan. Not going into the details, Lyss saved the halfling. Idozor, that was his name, was a thief. A very good one. But he crossed wrong people. And payed for it. All his fingers were broken, preventing him to use his craft. Lyss took Idozor as his retinue as halfling svered his loyalty for saving his life. Idozor became Lyss's manservant and even passed some of his skills to the young man.
Second retinue he hired at the age of 17. Half-orc Kelta is a good cook and quite good at keeping Lyss's clothes and appartments clean. She is in her 30s and Lyss bought her out from the debt. So she's working it out now and has about eight more years ahead of her. But she isn't treated pourly.
Last retainer is gnome boy Nurwut, only ten years old. He is a young brother of one of Lyss's childhood buddies whose whole family died from sickness. Lyss took him as a paige.
Whole King's Guard was idea of a baron, Lyss's father. Right now he's arrived to the summons and probably staying at some inn with his retinues.
The Iron Bone tribe is something of an oddity among Orcs, often maintaining close relationships with human settlements and cities hiring themselves out as guards and mercenaries growing their influence through more professional and orderly means than their much more chaotic and stereotypical brethren under the forward thinking leadership of their leader Golgomath the tribe has managed to grow and become more tolerated by non-Orcs. Really it was only natural that their amicable ties to other races might eventually lead to a mixing of blood here and there, such as when Golgomath's daughter Zidenia crossed paths with a human warrior by the name of Rickard Steelsoul, resulting in the eventual birth of their son Zadok and a number of other siblings later down the line.
Despite only possessing half the blood of a typical warrior of the tribe Zadok was no less fierce than his full blooded brethren, and boasted a keen intellect and generally well rounded set of talents which further helped set him apart from the others, fitting considering that by blood he would be likely be one to eventually take Golgomath's role as the tribe's leader.
Eventually Zadok would join the King's guard as a representative of the Iron Bone tribe where he could hopefully further improve his skills as a warrior as well as potentially make a few handy connections for later in life. Accompanying him are three retainers Grodick, Elzam and Dagren from the tribe who keep his equipment in good condition and handle minor tasks for him so he may better focus on his duties.
Re. character - I've read the thread so far but I'm relatively new to this. Are you happy with me coming up with anything within guidelines or is there some part of the party that could do with fleshing out a bit?
For the intro, I know we are in the middle of combat but I was thinking I could arrive late/too late (probably feel a bit guilty about that...) although I'm not sure how initiative would work with that?
Warlock - Lacunet is a half elf. Disappointed by the lack of arcane skills passed down through his elven forbears, he has made a pact with an otherworldly being; something that has not backfired yet. He has never had very deep roots anywhere and moves from place to place quite frequently using deception and charm to make his way. He is not above criminal activity and, while he has no set plans, he enjoys the thrill of successful deception and will often challenge himself almost unnecessarily. He will also chase excitement and interesting situations for the sake of them.
Pride is definitely a flaw as is a need for a certain wealth of lifestyle. He is also not a strong figure and will shun physical labour wherever possible.
