Origin Playbook: "Legacy"

Justin is a scion of an ancient family that has spread across the globe over the centuries. They have varying names in different parts of the world, belonging to different clans that have intermarried throughout history. The unique trait belonging to this extended clan is a certain magic that allows them to channel what some may call Qi/Chi or the energy of life and existence.

This ability is carried through the bloodlines and has been passed along for centuries. Justin's own branch of the family can supposedly trace its origins to the time of the Roman Empire on one side and to the reign of Qin Shi Huang on the other.

Throughout history, the various members of the clan have had conflicted thoughts regarding how best to exercise their powers. These conflicting philosophies have at times resulted in wars and other struggles. In general, there are two competing ends. There is one which emphasizes benevolent guidance and development. The other are of the belief that being blessed with superior abilities implies a more authoritative and controlling position.

Although they are of competing philosophies, the family is still at the end of it all, family. They may disagree on many aspects of how they are to be involved in the world, but humanity is nonetheless considered 'theirs', to protect and guide, or to control and use.

Justin was once on the camp that desired to control and use humanity, using his abilities and powers to satisfy his own whims and desires. But after years of engaging in hedonism and being one of his faction's 'hitmen' in their games to manipulate mankind, he found himself questioning what it was all about.

He took to the road and spent time traveling throughout the world, finding new ways to use his abilities and new views on life with how to use it. After a few years, he heard of the former Detroit being rebuilt and decided it was time to apply himself there and find a new start. It didn't take long for a man of his abilities to make a footprint into the nascent city.

Between applying his abilities in fighting crime (and relieving various criminal rings of their ill-gotten wealth, when feasible) – he soon was able to found a small construction company that expanded at an incredible pace, becoming one of the city's budding businesses, and establishing himself as a competent and influential person within the city.

Nemesis: A rising star among the opposing faction's new generation of Blooded.

Current Costume: A modernized and mechanized version of traditional armor. Predominantly based on western plate, with certain Asian accents.

Drive Playbook: "Start Anew"

With the abilities he had, it was not particularly challenging for Justin to develop connections and to situate himself in opportunities with the various movers and shakers of the growing city. A few years into the city's reconstruction, he'd established a company engaged in construction services. The Cornerstone Construction Corporation was created.

In the frenetic years of growth, his ability to connect with and attract many of the rising talents within Millennium City propelled the 'Triple C' into one of the city's largest firms. He leveraged this to found a real estate company, New Millennium Domains, along with ownership in a number of other smaller businesses.

Justin's latest venture lies close to his heart, as he is behind the creation of a series of holistic sports centers called Arete Centers, which he has envisioned as a way of helping the youth build themselves up, mind, body, and soul. The Princeps has helped build Millennium City block by block, and now it's time for him to build up its people.

Origin: "The Wake Up Call"

He was once the top hit man for the Brotherhood, an ancient secret society that, ostensibly, went after threats to humanity before they could do damage. Clint eventually discovered that The Brotherhood had abandoned their code of honor and had become nothing more than paid assassins. The threats that they neutralized were simply the rivals of the criminal organizations that had the money to hire a Brotherhood assassin. Together with a friend, they dismantled the Brotherhood and killed most of the members.

Foes: The Betrayed

Some former members of the Brotherhood did not appreciate having their means to a lavish lifestyle destroyed. Though most have found gainful employment in various criminal organizations, some of them still have a personal vendetta against the man who was once called The Boogeyman

Backstory:

Not much is known about Khamal, even to himself. Born thousands of years ago in what is now Northern Iraq,
Khamal was a Sassanid warrior-noble whose city was overrun by invading Roman legions. He fled with his
pregnant wife out into the desert, and found refuge in a cave at the foot of a mysterious mountain in the middle
of the wastes. Khamal's wife and child perished during childbirth, as the arduous journey had left them all weak
and sick. Dying himself, Khamal swore vengeance with his last breath. A mysterious entity awoke from beneath
the mountain, and struck a bargain with him: he would be granted the power to enact his vengeance, at the
price of being its servant throughout the millenia. The dying warrior agreed, and was reborn with great strength
and immortality, granted to him by a mysterious rune in the middle of his chest.

The warrior soon found that the Rune granted him the ability to heal wounds almost instantly, and that upon
death, the Rune would bring him back, but at a price: sometimes a memory, or at times the rune would take
over his consciousness for days, even weeks at a time, directing his actions towards is own agendas. Even when
Khamal was in control he felt the desires of the Rune at times directing his actions.

And so Khamal waged a shadow war with the Eastern Roman Empire, using his strength and guile to stir the
enemies of Byzantium against it. In doing so he gained the enmity of the Arcani, the secret Roman brotherhood
that ruled the Empire by controlling its emperors. This war in the shadows was waged until the fall of
Constantinople and its subsequent sacking, during which Khamal personally slew the Acrani inner council.
More than a thousand years late, Khamal had taken up residence in Millenium City, having travelled across the
breadth of the world, fought in its wars, and wandered at the Rune's behest. He lives comfortably, having made
some very long-term investments, but the increasing availability of information has made it increasingly difficult
to erase his paper trail throughout the years. His immortality has made him distant from regular people, as over
the years he had seen too many friends die.

His circle of friends is limited to Lucien Fawkes, Millenium City head librarian, and Brother Darius, Abbot of the
Millenium City Brotherhood of St. Peter. He has also taken a guardedly romantic interest in museum curator
and antiquarian Ms. Lawson, but is careful not to let his involvement with her become a liability, as his enemies,
the Arcani and its offshoot secret societies, are ever on the lookout for revenge, and a chance to capture him
and discover the secret of his immortality.
