Character Creation Thread

Be sure to read and follow the guidelines for our forums.

This thread is designed for your ability score rolls, and flushing out your character concepts for this Primeval adventure!

For ability score rolls, go ahead and roll 4d6 7 times, with each d6 drop the worst result, and then of the 7 scores, pick the 6 best.

Please use the Advanced button to add your dice rolls to the thread.
Aug 15, 2018 1:15 pm
Can we order the scores however we want?
Aug 15, 2018 1:36 pm
I've never done this before so I am kinda waiting for someone else to go first... >.
Aug 15, 2018 2:40 pm
I will demonstrate how.

When you hit the Advanced button, go ahead and roll 4d6 7 times.

You do this on the Advanced posting page by adding 7 basic rolls to the post.

The description field is just for flavor. But the roll field needs to have "4d6" typed into it for each of the seven basic roll entries you added.

When you are ready, click the "post" button.

My 7 results are 6 (7 - 1), 13 (14 - 1), 10 (11 - 1), 17 (19 - 2), 14 (15 - 1), 16 (17 - 1), and 7 (8 - 1). I would drop the 6, and keep the rest for my various abilities.

You have an extra 14 in there, but yes, you drop the 8. So, your final numbers are:

That's some good rolls. Sounds like an Antantean. I'll see what I can come up with.

That's exciting! Good job, Aldrusian! I'm excited for the character you drum up!

Let's see what we are working with...

Whoops, thanks for pointing that out!

C'mon luck

Edit: so
4d6 - ( 4, 6, 3) = 13

4d6 - ( 2, 5, 3, ) = 10

4d6 - ( 2, 2, 4 ) = 8

4d6 - ( 4, 5, 6 ) = 15

4d6 - ( 2, 5, 6 ) = 13

4d6 - ( 4, 4, 5 ) = 13

4d6 - ( 3, 2, 4 ) = 9

Drop the 8 I guess. That's reasonably well rounded

Yeah, it’s not a bad number set, but not quite as lucky as these other guys.
Aug 16, 2018 1:06 pm
I think I'd like to play a wizard. I'm looking hard at the soothsayer narrative
Aug 16, 2018 2:23 pm
Sounds fun! A soothsaying Wizard.

Also, I’ll add some rules around changing narratives in game.
Aug 16, 2018 2:36 pm
I've been looking at a Beast Friend Druid concept, but if we are going Low magic I can probably change that up.
Aug 16, 2018 2:43 pm
I don’t mind having magical characters in the party. But people in the world will look st you in awe, and maybe fear if you use it openly.
Aug 17, 2018 7:16 pm
I'm feeling a pit fighter narrative that is the bound servant or pet to another character cause I'm thinking of rolling a lizardfolk, beastman, or tiefling.

Any takers to being the Han to my Chewie?
Aug 18, 2018 11:00 am
That sounds totally awesome, but my meek people-watching druid doesn't seem like a good fit. I hope someone takes you up on it though!
Aug 18, 2018 5:41 pm
I'm thinking that an Atlantean Warlock would have a bound servant and would reasonably pick a hulking brute to do his fetching and carrying or otherwise body guarding. I will have to finish off the character and will let you (and everyone else) see him if our erstwhile GM is amenable.
Aug 18, 2018 8:05 pm
Still coming up with ideas which I will be fleshing out today so here are my rolls for now

Edit: Final Stats are 14, 13, 14, 16, 15, 14

Thinking of making a druid like rouge Atlantean

I noticed you put that Atlantean's start out with more wealth based on class. In order to recieve this extra money do we need to roll for our gold?
Aug 18, 2018 9:40 pm
Do we also need to do literacy rolls?
Aug 18, 2018 11:45 pm
No, you can take your base gold and multiply by 5. Or, you can roll for a chance to improve your station financially.

And yes for the literacy rolls, unless your race or narrative says that you are automatically literate.

Here's the DCs for the literacy check.

Barbarian - DC 20 Intelligence Check
Bard - DC 5 Intelligence Check
Cleric - DC 5 Intelligence Check
Druid - DC 15 Intelligence Check
Fighter - DC 15 Intelligence Check
Monk - DC 10 Intelligence Check
Paladin - DC 10 Intelligence Check
Ranger - DC 15 Intelligence Check
Rogue - DC 15 Intelligence Check
Sorcerer - DC 5 Intelligence Check
Warlock - DC 10 Intelligence Check
Wizard - DC 0 Intelligence Check
Aug 20, 2018 9:26 pm
Sounds cool Aldrusian! Let me know.
Aug 28, 2018 6:55 pm
Complete n00b question: How do we work out base gold?
Aug 28, 2018 9:42 pm
Since we do not have the standard backgrounds, with their gold and skill lists, I will say that you can triple your base gold amount from your class (assuming you take the standard equipment).
Sep 10, 2018 9:49 pm
Sorry, sorry, sorry.

I will get my lizard done ASAP.
Sep 11, 2018 6:40 pm
Oooo are lizardmen common place in Thule?

Lizards are not common in civilization, but there is a relatively little amount of civilization in Thule.

People will def be wary of a lizardfolk though.
Sep 12, 2018 3:58 pm
Warlocks are especially wary of lizardfolk.

MattParody, I think you are the last person to submit a character sheet. Please do so this weekend.
Sep 18, 2018 4:35 am
Apologies.
He's submitted now.

Fascinated to see how this strange assortment of folk is going to get together.

I'm thinking about playing a Thulian Halfling monk, with the Tribal Outcast narrative - after being outcast, he has spent most of his time cloistered away from large-scale civilizations - but would come into play because there is someone he wants to protect, somebody who was a fellow member of his tribe at the time he was outcast, then later outcast themselves. Does that character concept seem like it would fit with the game and the rest of the party?

Hoping that I have worked out how rolling works:

Rolls

Ability Score - (4d6)

(3622) = 13

Ability Score - (4d6)

(3636) = 18
