Looking good folks. I prob won’t actually start this module until next week after I get back from Mexico. Hopefully by then everyone is ready to go. We can start, technically, with as little as 3.

Hey. I just got home. This is as early as I can possible add to the adventure. I see a lot has transpired. Am I holding things up?
For example, Rivas would absolutely be up for scouting ahead, but I see that seems to be no longer an option. Was it just pushed past because of the AL railroad factor explained in the DM post, or is it because I took too long to reply?
If it's my fault, I apologize, but my job is such that, although I'm happy to post everyday, I can't post while at work. I'd hate to be holding everybody up.
Are we all at the cave entrance now?

no its not your fault, its the story line, theres a lot of what we think would happen from like a hardcover or homebrew where the dm just randomly does things so we take the time to look at things minutly, for the AL Its a heres a prompt, you're "hooked" go to 1 of the 989023870239 locations and do what it says on the page.
In AL theres less "diviation" from the book, i think its so no matter who plays or where theres still the "same" experience.

@tsavo- exactly what Cave said. I will try to keep pacing under control as best I can. I can be guilty of pushing too fast sometimes so don’t be afraid to ask me to slow don’t or retroactively do something if I move ahead. I will gloss over things if I don’t feel it has an impact on the story. Like I said these are pretty streamlined adventures and the sand boxing is greatly diminished.

I understand. Thank you. Just wanted to be sure I wasn’t frustrating things for anyone.

As a heads up on Oct. 14-21 I will be taking a trip with some friends to New York, my posting will likely slow down during this time.
Oct 10, 2018 9:08 pm
Nio worries and thanks for the heads up...depending on where we are at I may either NPC you or just have you take a nap at the inn...due to the nature of AL rules it makes it pretty easy to have people hop in and out.

Hey all I’ll try to get the next update by tomorrow. Not feeling hot tonight and I need to finish getting the next map ready. Sorry for the delay.

It is clear that this half-elf has the right to be wherever he is. Despite his thin and frail frame, his fashionable clothing and proud bearing clearly communicate his noble heritage. Always networking, he is is an aggressive flatterer and entertainer, happily drawing focus in parties with his skilled performances on shawm and horn. When idle, he can be found softly blowing a melody on his panpipes between sips of wine.
Karvir is the 5th born of 7, and 4th in line for the Whitmond estate. His mother is an elf from the north and comes from a petty-noble lineage. His father is a low-ranked baron but does well enough to be well received by others of higher status. Karvir's father oversees and taxes the farming activity surrounding a small. Recently, sulfur deposits were discovered on his lands. Karvir has been tasked with finding suitable trade for the sulfur once mining operations begin, tho Karvir's father isn't really expecting much from his aloof son.
Karvir is a devout follower of Kelemvor, god of death, as is tradition among the Whitmond line. He has taken well to the tenets of Kelemvor and feels they reflect his own personal mores. Death need not be feared, as it is what makes life so valuable; By respecting death we also cherish life. Moreover, all life is to be respected, something that Karvir makes an effort to heed - treating all people with dignity, even if they are of lower status than himself.
Given the long odds at inheriting his success, he has set out to make it himself. Nearly six months have passed since he set out on his own, slowly traveling from one village to another, visiting each rest station, pub, and inn along the way. Rather than making his fortune, he as been spending it lavishly. His purse has grown light now. He has had to downgrade to a rather impoverished "comfortable" room and let go of all of his servants but one. It was also quite embarrassing when he had to sell his fine horse and replace it with a stubborn and aggressive mule. (Karvir is secretly quite afraid it will bite him one of these days. Good thing he has the help around to handle that creature!)
So now here Karvir is, seeking work, seeing himself as suitable for something of the adventuring sort.

So I went extreme with this character - my first time ever going with 8, 8, 8, 15, 15, 15. I'm going to have to be so careful!

Hey guys, would like to say that I think I'm gonna drop out of my AL games. Same goes for yours, Cave. Nothing on either of you, you've both been great GMs and party members, but I'm just not overly taken with the pacing of AL. Combine that with the fact that I think I've stepped into a few too many games for me to handle, and these are the obvious choices for me to cut off. Thanks though, for giving me the chance to give AL a shot!

Sad :,( Ok, I'll make sure to update my sheets. I hope you has a good time.
question though, is it to slow? or to fast?

@Cave A bit too fast. The focus on procession over roleplay kinda takes away from what I play for. I get the reason for it, it's just not my cup of tea.

Fyi - Sclasclemski posted in the absences thread that they will be spotty on the postings for a while due to family.

How to make a minimap (appears in the upper right of the screen):
[ color="#000;position:fixed;display:block;margin:auto;width:495px;top:64px;right:0;z-index:5999;" ]
[ spoiler="Mini Map" ][ img ]...image url here...[ /img ][ /spoiler ]
[ /color ]
Remove the extra spaces inside the square brackets.
Multiple posts of maps are ok, as the most recent post will be the displayed map.

The way I do my maps is through Google Drawing...its the easiest way I have found as I do most of my stuff through my phone...and I can just share the link without having to go through too many steps each time I update. If you have a better option I'm definitely open to suggestion.
Feb 15, 2019 7:48 pm
Use the template in my previous post above. Or you could click "Quote" on my last entry in the IC thread. Everythihg within the color tag is the hack to get the mini map up.
Feb 15, 2019 7:50 pm
You need to edit the spaces out. [ color="......." ] becomes [color="......."]
I had to add the spaces in so that you could see it in normal display, otherwise the game parses them out.

thats great...i'm adding this to all my games...do I need to post it on each page for it to show?
Feb 15, 2019 7:52 pm
Yeah, each new page will need it. There are a few other hacks I figured out too that are fun.
Feb 15, 2019 7:53 pm
You can add an image to the background of a post.
.
[ color="#000;background-image: url('https://img.icons8.com/ios-glyphs/256/000000/bull.png');background-repeat: no-repeat;position: absolute;display: block;margin: auto;width: 100%;background-position: 50%;top: 38px;bottom: 0;opacity: 0.05;pointer-events: none;"][ /color]
Use the above code (fix the extra spaces at the beginning of the color tags). It is best to paste this in as the very first text of a post. Otherwise the image will be on top of the posts text and any links within teh text can't be clicked nor could you highlight the text (e.g. to copy and paste)

I like this to set a theme, but it has the effect of making the background of the post and any post above it lose the white color.

I'd check with ski RPG, it might could be quicker if your just roll the d20 for the save and ski can apply the modifier if needed?
Mar 25, 2019 6:48 pm
yea it just helps him out cause then they just add the mod and determine from that. instead of 298702938 other rolls :D
But being AL he may want to do things differently?

Personal preference I guess. To me, it doesn’t matter who rolls since the online die roller is recorded and uneditable.

I absolutely hate that I have to write this but I'm afraid I need to go on hiatus for an indeterminite amount of time. My work life has simply become too demanding for me to perform the level of work that I need to as well as provide my family the love and attention they require. As a result of those demands, the gamersplane emails have morphed into another form of stress as it feels like another "task" I need to accomplish during the course of the week instead of something I look forward to as it once was not 6 months ago. I love this community and the people I have met here. Great creative people.
I hope that somehow my workload can be reduced in the future so that I can return in some capacity, but I have been kidding myself for the past several months as my games have drug on and on as my posting rate has steadily declined. My apologies to my players as I have had so much fun dm'ing and guiding these stories. As well to my DM's who done the same for me.
It has been a wonderful year and a half and wish you all the best!

I will leave the game open should I return in the near future and anyone still has any interest in continuing at that time.
Apr 18, 2019 6:27 pm
I am interested in continuing. Thank you for all your time on this adventure. I hope you workload slows down and your life becomes less stressful.
