OOC:
Veraddas notes you believe represented copies of the pages that had been torn out of the book. Nothing else was gleaned. Also the cavern does not look out of the ordinary as far as caverns go.

Rivas raises one brow at Nikos’s comment. "You are familiar with my order?" The paladin’s eyes, likewise, remain on the task at hand. Scanning for threats, sword gripped and at the ready, he adds, "Yes, the Red Lady honours strategy and intelligent warfare above brutish bashing about. So I’m not sure your characterization of seeking out battles necessarily fits, however I take your meaning."

The half-elf allows a brief smile to play across his lips. "And truth be told, I do relish the opportunity, when it arises, to put the fear of the Red Knight into evil doers. Why should the good being of the realm hog all the fear for ourselves? Those who would spread hurt deserve a taste too, don’t you agree?"
Oct 6, 2018 11:28 am
"Most certainly. My tribe follows a similar creed. We travel between battlefields, and while it is not our place to turn the outcomes of war, we stand in defense of those it would otherwise trample. Farms, villages, the like. Those who would see fit to pillage and loot are the ones who face our ire." She looks around cautiously, tightening her grip on the blade.

"It's awfully quiet in here. Doesn't sit right with me - It wasn't just goblins at the entrance, but giants, too."
Oct 6, 2018 11:38 am
Rivas touches the crossgaurd of his sword to his brow in salute to the female at his shoulder. "We may not serve the same deity, but we certainly serve the same philosophy and are driven by kindred purposes. You can count on me to have your back for as long as we share the same road."

Salute and oath over, he turns his full attention back to the task at hand. "Yes. More than just goblins. As I suspected..." He continues his visual sweep of the area as the group progresses deeper into the cave system.

You traverse the tunnel past the cave opening until it opens into a large cavern. The large cavern is empty of living creatures, although several lanterns around the room provide light. Rubble is piled up three feet high in several places throughout the cavern, and two tunnels lead out. The tunnel on the south wall is clear, but the tunnel to the east is chocked with debris. Dust still rides the zephyrs circulating through the cavern, leading you to believe the cave-in to the east was recent.

OOC:
Provide me a marching order please.
Oct 6, 2018 4:41 pm
OOC:
I'd suggest Rivas up front, followed by Nikos and Rizak side-by side if possible. Thrune center perhaps and Ruby at the back, depending on who's more defensive.

Oh and also, because I know I'll get confused by this at some point, which side of the room are we on?

"I volunteer for the rear guard. My chainmail armor, shield, and the Lady's blessings will be a stalwart defense against a cowardly rear attack."
OOC:
How tall are the tunnels?
Oct 6, 2018 5:39 pm
OOC:
I have 16 AC and shocking grasp in case of melee. I'll be between Thrune and Nikos if Thrune wants to take up the rear.
"Do you think that'll happen?" Ruby sounds mildly concerned and speaks in a whisper. "This'll make a great story then. I'll cover if there's trouble."
Oct 6, 2018 5:41 pm
OOC:
You are coming in through the northwest corner of the cavern. The cavern is about 20-30 feet high. Any other comments about the march order?

Nikos raises her blade, the edge running parallel to the center of her face, and readies her stance, coiled like a spring and ready to lunge at a moment's notice.

The lanterns are providing dim light for anyone that does not have darkvision

As a result Nikos...you need to make that perception check with disadvantage

As you step further into the large dimly lit cavern, you are suddenly set upon by four goblins that jump out from behind several piles of stacked up rubble. They take you all by surprise, launching arrows at you and then ducking back down behind the rubble to hide again.
OOC:
For those that I haven't DM'd for before...the map link is not editable by you...when its your turn to move just provide me instruction (ex...3 east 2 south...etc)...I use the 5'-10'-5'-10' rule for moving diagonally...I will always roll initiative for everyone then you will move in groups as I instruct. When the group is up, anyone within that group can go first come first serve. If you have any questions just hit me up in a pm or the OOC thread.

Group 2: Goblins

Group 3: Rizak, Rivas, Thrune (+ Group 1)

Nikos and Ruby are up...you will need to make perception checks (w/disadvantage if you don't have darkvision) to spot the goblins from a distance...or you can try to run them down.

OOC:
Straight off the bat with the huge damage, rip
As Nikos squints into the darkness, she lets out a cry as an arrow punctures her shoulder with considerable force. Growling, she tears the intruder from her body, tossing it on the floor. She takes a moment, drawing in a sharp breath, then charges south, vaulting over the pile of rubble and coming crashing down on the nearest goblin.

OOC:
Prepare for a lot of damage rerolling, since Nikos has both Savage Attacker and Great Weapon Fighting. Savage Attacker lets me use whichever result I wish, so use the higher of the two.

EDIT: Using Great Weapon Fighting to reroll the 2 on the Savage Attacker Dice

One dead Goblin...Ruby is up

Ruby feels the sting of the arrow, and looks around for the attackers.
OOC:
Specifically G4, they are farthest. If I don't see them I'd like to use the dodge action.
