The GP Advent Calendar - Day 12

Dec 12, 2022 3:51 pm
Hey there, lovely GP community!

Throughout the first 24 days of December, we, the mods, want to highlight some fun, exciting, cool or otherwise interesting GP posts, just to give you all a glimpse of what might be going on on the site outside of your own games and to share some gaming enthusiasm around.

Since we can only be in a small number of games, compared to all the many going on at the same time, there will definitely be some amazing posts that none of the mod team are aware of. If you saw a great post in a game you're in or you have written something that you're particularly proud of, please share it with BowlofSpinach in a private message and we will put it under consideration for a future advent calendar door. Unfortunately, an advent calendar only has 24 doors so it's possible we won't be able to share everything that gets submitted to us if we get a lot of messages, but she'd still love to read as many posts you find fascinating as possible so don't be shy about submitting one or more posts you think would get other people excited 😊
Today we are highlighting a post from GeneCortess from Dark Sun (as ran by BedzoneII). Gene is a real "strap on your boots and get to work" kind of gamer. He is a really dependable poster. His posts aren't always the flashy kind, but that's not always needed. Dependable gamers like him keep games alive even in lean times, and he always finds a way to make a game more interesting.

Craad

Craad says as he moves fast on his gear (Waterskin), "Krom must still be in the brickyard. T'Khari didn't bring him or me out." The waterskin does last long as dehydrated Craad is terribly thirsty. He takes an effort to give Zol a thought of his current dislike of T'Khari.

He must now decide on his look. To continue with his guard uniform means he is connected to Zolban or T'Khari to look right. Neither thought terribly fascinates Craad. Both are on the lesser list of thoughts. And now even Zol is having troubles. This place is bad. It killed Riven. He shakes his head as to get so many lesser thoughts out.

Ditching the guard uniform and become a slave would only bring him back to the pens after a beating for no valid reason to be in the training grounds. Of course, he does get to connect back up with Velas and lots of other problems he has left there. He is so good at leaving problems behind him. Done that most all his life.

His hurt body so much wants the feel of his fancy slick Inix leather armor. He paid good coins to get that custom fitted to him. He looks so much better in it. And it comes with his favored bone quabone and bone dagger with obsidian gemmed handle. He is sure the presence of his wooden longbow might raise some eyes, but his chitin shell shield should be fine. (Nice thing about being a druid in DS. There really isn't a metal problem.) Only problem is that he doesn't look like a slave, gladiator type and isn't much good at playing off a house person. (He really isn't grand of playing off really anything except a tribesman.)

With the greater feeling now he has, he is sure that if he could get alone and away from everyone that he could heal himself up but displaying that to all here just isn't good. He doubts they would understand and it is currently harder for Craad to even fully take in it all. But he can feel the strength and power forming in him. (Lots of slot to use.) Even an hour or so to rest would be so good. His thoughts of water have passed.

Connecting up with Luklass wouldn't be too bad even if he is rather a mess right now. But still he would be easily spot'able by the female martial arts instructor as he would fairly much look the same as she seen him earlier. He is fairly sure there isn't any others of his lesser list to see that would be in the training grounds right now. Such a long list. He does wish Velas was here.

Escape with Velas and the owed 1000 ceramics. He could live well for a while that way. Just a passing fantasy.

Craad says to Turk, "I do hope you see friend Krom again. Last I saw, he was rather shaven." With little concern of everyone there, Craad puts away his guard uniform in the nooky with the guard's sword, and dons his gear making him look much different. He did kinda like the make-do overseer uniform he had on earlier, but it is lost as well as his macGyver punch knife and no concern about the guard's sword he lost there too. Someday someone will find the rope and wooden hook as well as his pouch of spices (Druggies) he left hid away in the pens. Craad now has most of his gear with him. The rest is mainly in Inn hid away there.
OOC:
If there is a more fancy weapon in the armory that catches Craad's eye over his favored bone quabone then he might well uplift it and scabbard'ed it Away to this his side next to quabone.
He ignores the others there as they ignore what he looks like now. No one really wants to have a bad day right now. And besides it isn't their problem and trouble no one needs. Craad still is fairly sure casting right now would be too much and put the situation over the red line. He feels the pull of his leather on the many spots on his body that are lesser.

"Zol. Any thoughts on what the future holds now." as Craad avoids mentioning anything more incriminating in that as others do have ears and even though they are ignoring how he looks, he is sure they are listening. Craad now has his more merchant look. Painfully lucky the armor covers up a lot of his wounds. Zol really hasn't seen Craad in this outfit hardly at all. He seen him more in his traveling wastelander's outfit.

With donning his gear, Crystal (His ex from the tribe.) crosses his thought. Been a long time it seems. He quickly puts those thoughts away. Nothing good can come from that and besides also he remembers Ruth and the mess that followed. The reasons he left the tribe in the first place. (Females always haunt poor innocent Craad.)

He still misses the safer and easier life of just tending the herds/mounts and lazily making maps. Being an Erdlu merchants to raise his status in the tribe just hasn't panned out well and has just left him with more troubles. And he misses his favored Erdlu that he raised and there will be hell to pay if the guild that took her from him does her any harm. (I'm assuming that Craad has sensed for her and knows she is alive someplace in the city.)

Craad's life among the beast was so much better than being surrounded by people of the pens. He should have never done Crystal wrong. Now his life has taken such an odd path. Experiencing the world hasn't been the greatest moments of his life. Tribe life was easier. At least now he can put a great name on the evil lord of slavery. Experiencing it wasn't supposed to be in his thoughts. His Kisme blood boils some in him.

I've seen this PC grow in richness of detail over the course of the game, and all organically connected to each story beat. Thanks for bringing Craad to my table Gene Cortess!
