OOC:
Qiu has a grapple on the Bull, so he can't stand up at all, must remain prone until escaping the grapple. Escaping a grapple takes a full action (not just one attack). Standing from prone should just be 1/2 movement.

Rolling contest against the bull incase he still wants to spend his action breaking the grapple.

Edit: Looks like the Bull breaks the grapple & stands. He misses the swing so my rules lawyering on that point doesn't matter. He could still move away if he wanted to. (And I'll take a reaction to attack if he does...)

So one attack to grapple, all attacks to escape a grapple? So for two 20th level fighters, 1 attack to grapple, 4 to escape? Holy shit.

That popped out right away and I figured there was probably some Grappler murder hobo build out there somewhere, and, sure enough, after a quick search, here it is: The Grappler's Manual.

One of my favorite parts is 'Why Grappling'). The Grappler build is literally designed to eat an opponent's attacks for breakfast (1 attack to grapple, all for the victim to escape, which the prone character will most certainly want to do, since the obvious no-brainer point of grapple is to create a prone effect that requires a check to escape from, forcing the forfeited attacks). Not to mention the Grappler ignores all other combat mechanics (Maneuvers, AC, Dodge, etc) by planting a skill check in the middle of combat, as part of an attack.

Man, that is one hell of a build, and I can appreciate why you picked it CB, but I've gotta say (and yeah, I'm one of those guys who looks at game rules sometimes and thinks "wtf were they thinking?"), whoever came up for this when they were writing the rules in 5e and decided that for this one special circumstance (grappling) the attack roll to hit (grappling is an attack, after all) should be eliminated from the grapple attempt, which is a combat move... did they realize the massive loophole they were creating by eliminating the 'to hit' roll, negating all other combat mechanics?

Punching, poking, kicking, bashing, swinging a weapon, throwing a rock, everything else requires a 'to hit' roll wherein the attacker has to make contact... but grappling is special? "Hey guys, you know what, let's make this a skill check... it'll be a cool changeup...and pass me that crackpipe when you're done."

I would be lying if I said I don't have that exact guide bookmarked.

It's a tradeoff - reduced damage output and mobility for the advantage to force one opponent to pay attention to *just you*. The grappled opponent still gets all their attacks, so it is important to consider who you are grappling. The Bull, for example, is one of the worst people to try and grapple - high strength makes it hard to grapple and shove prone, and when they are prone they can just lay there and attack. They don't have any special advantage nor disadvantage against the grappler, so the guy laying on the ground can tend to do quite a lot of damage to the grappler. Thankfully the Bull didn't do that this round. And I'm ok with that. ;-P

There is also the consideration that AC is pretty abstract but the armor one wears shouldn't protect against grappling. The designers had to choose between using AC as it is, introducing an unarmored AC, or using the contested skill check. It's a tough call, but I think they made the right choice in the spirit of simplicity.

Still... grabbing hold of some guy whirling a sword around at you seems like a dangerous thing to do and maybe isn't simulated by the rules all that well.

Ya. OK. I'll edit the above.
Same result, as you say. He stands up, no damage to Qiu.
OOC:
Bull just read the Grappler commentary above as a Reaction. He's going to convert to full attacks next time he gets Grappled. He's tired of this break Grapple shit gobbling up all of his Action.

Phantom
TR2

The phantom crouches low and then springs upward in an inhuman manner. Those embattled with the other opponents see the phantom sailing up high in the air, through the smoke, and then disappearing out of vision on the high platform above.

As he glides up towards a landing on the upper deck, the phantom throws a set of small darts at Ivor.

Ivor, at first looking at Thorn in the storage shed, detects movement just in time to not get blindsided. He sees the wrapped villain emerge in the air through the smoke and land with a quiet step, hardly making a sound. Ivor turns and does his best to avoid the darts, and then sees that he is faced with an opponent right upon him.
OOC:
If darts are successful, required CON save to resist Bat Hannoc Poison.
OOC:
Alright, listen up, Player's Club. Nobody better come at me trying to ask about:
What how far is that Movement up on that deck?
Can that Phantom still use his Action to Attack or was that like a Dash type Dash Glide Jump?
Yo J how far high is that hill slant and then plus how up is the measure on that back porch?

That area covered by the jump was:
FUCKING High x FUCKING Far x FUCKING Long Ways. That's the exact measurements.

I checked the rules, and it all complies on page number I-Don't-Give-a-Fuck.

Also there is a link to the quote of the rules here.

Thorn
Bottom Round 2
OOC:
Catching up, back in sequence.
Having cleared all of the obstruction, Thorn steps back, braces himself, and then crashes into the wall, using his shoulder as a battering ram to push force into the wood with the widest area possible. The boards crack severely, likely more than expected. Thorn gathers back a step and then swings the two-hander into the broken boards.

The entire section splinters apart and blows inward, opening a large clearing into the main room. A few boards remain loosely attached, but Thorn knows he could blow right through them now and crash through.

Inside he sees:

Fingol, holding a bow with arrow notched, swinging it around from his right turning left to aim at Thorn.
A super hot thin Dannein MILF with thick long black hair, wearing nothing but a belt and silk leg cover, topless, outstanding tits, hands bound in thick knotted rope and tied to a large piece of hard wood shelving, sitting and leaning over in a defensive position behind and to the right of Fingol. Her face is busted up pretty bad like she has been smacked around.

The woman makes eye contact with Thorn and yells, "Look out!" as she shifts to her feet in a low crouch, holding her tied hands close to her chest.
OOC:
Bro, special reroll on Initiative. We are restarting a private match right now.
Thorn vs. Fingol: Battle in the Witch House!!!

We're going to run this on the side in parallel to the rest of the action with everyone else and see what happens.
Keep all comms in these Note window boxes. I want to keep it so that everyone else is unable to see this development, as it should be for realism.

Use "Hide Everything" on Visibility for Rolls. I can still see the results, but it will keep the others from being able to read between the lines.

With a sneer, Ivor shrugs off the poisoned dart and lunges at his new foe. He quickly gets the Phantom tangled up in his net, then jabs at the man's legs twice and twists to add insult to injury.

• Total damage from 2 attacks (one of them a crit) and a Superiority Die is a measly 27.
• DC 14 STR save vs. the Trip attack or fall Prone. There's no getting up from that while Restrained!

Wow! Thorn wins initiative, even though Fingol rolled well too with a 19.
Have at it then!

Distance Thorn to Fingol is 15'.
First 5' is Difficult Terrain because of necessity to press through the obstruction of the remaining wall.

The woman is slightly behind Fingol, to Thorn's right / Fingol's back left.

Hey, here's a picture that is sort of like the scene of the interior of the witch house. Disregard the people, but generally the same structural vision: a poorly lit wooden room with knick knacks and clutter everywhere, with the tree's system of branches partially visible and incorporated into the structure of the room.

Thorn has no doubt about it: that is Urdav's antler handled seax knife, sheathed in Urdav's hand-crafted leather scabbard.
Thorn remembers watching Urdav buying that unfinished blade casting from Houger, an old Dannein smithy at Melig Trade. Then Urdav built the hilt and crafted the scabbard himself over the next week, during one autumn when Thorn was around 11 or 12 years old.

Watching the skull masked demon man leap effortlessly - without so much as a grunt - to the hut puts a seed of fear in Qiu's heart. Nothing could make that leap! What are these creatures? A single word flashes in his mind, and he just as quickly suppresses it - zhofu, demon magic.

Horrified that the already bloodied Kray is being overwhelmed, Qiu steps back from the Bull just as Talius renews his attack against the demon man. Focusing on his defense, he ducks and swings his shield up and behind him, protecting against any attacks by the Bull as Qiu steps out of his range. He then charges the Goat masked man, smashing the bottom edge of his shield into the shaft of the spear and down into the man's knees while simultaneously grabbing the man's shoulder and hauling him forward, away from Kray.
