Moss and Ygne ascends the stair to where the masked figures make their silent vigil. You discover they are heavily perfumed, smelling of myrrh and sweet oils. You see only one weapon on their person, an ornately decorated curved dagger that hangs in the small of their back, again adorned with copper. They make no room for you to walk past their ranks, and make no indication that they acknowledge your presence.
Moss and Ygne can see more of the village from this vantage point, and have a few minutes to observe it. You notice that most of the village inhabitants are children and the elderly. Most are busy with the various village industries: tanning hides, thatching roofs, descaling fish, weaving baskets. Drumming music comes from one corner of the village where members appear to be practicing an intricately choreographed dance, and you notice that She Who Has Been Beyond the Reef is leading the group.
A few inhabitants stand out among the rest:
On one of the bridges, a heavily-muscled warrior with a painted skull mask moves through sword exercises with a massive greatsword. His movements are more brutal than graceful.

From one of the largest huts in the village, another figure in black observes you. This one wears a white mask (this one has eye holes) and a cloak of black feathers.
