Elspa drops the rod, half in fear. Distrusting the weird ivory rod, she tries to recall how her old pack used to remove the smell of skunk through herbs and other natural means.

"Maybe but I've earned to wear their blood, a warrior does not wash off the scent of combat." to anyone else it would sound like a normal conversation, to Elspa though she picks up a hint of hostility; if it is directly towards her, that is unknown.

Ygne learned from a young age that smelling like shit from twenty feet away is antithetical to being a good sneak, and so she is glad to have a wash. She takes hold of one of the rods, inspects it a moment for any value, and then points it up at Khiva, "Ygne the Wicked is also Ygne the Wise! I understand!"

Without modesty or grace, the thief disrobes and cleans herself off, shedding her old, gross clothes and replacing them with the new ones. As she does, she picks up on the discussion between Elspa and Rygnar and chimes in with her usual tact, "Feel free to keep smellin' like shit, muscles, but they might not let you in." By this point she's cleaned and getting dressed once more on the beach. "Then Elspa's gonna get inside without you," she says, a big grin on her face as she's pulling up her new pants, "Maybe find someone else big and strong that she can packmate with." She throws her new shirt over her shoulders as she turns and struts toward the stairs with a laugh.

You find a rock covered in barnacles that exfoliates your skin deep enough to peel off the stench, but leaves you red as a strawberry.
OOC:
Haha, I feel free to come up with a better consequence of failure. I'd be okay if you just want to hand wave it without consequences, but if you're having fun then we're doing it right.

The silent bronze-masked figures stand motionless at the top of the stairs while you clean yourselves, staring out into the ocean (if they can in fact see through the solid mask). They await your arrival at the top of the stairs.

Rygnar stares down at Ygne "My only concern is her safety, not who she mates with. If they put her in danger, they won't be able to keep me out." Rygnar awaits patiently for Elspa to finish before accompanying her to the stairs.

OOC:
Had a feeling that would of been Elspa's answer.

"Uh huh," Ygne says dryly, unconvinced, as she is still walking away. She calls back, "I'd be more like to help them."

Elspa declines the option to scrub off the rest of her own skin, confident at least that the smell is not permanent. She wrings out the water in her hair and rejoins the party.

Frick doesn't even pretend to a avert his eyes from the girls, smiling and winking at them if they notice him watching. He does spend time making sure he's smelling decent and waits a few minutes to drip dry before he puts on his new clothes, stretching to make sure that they don't interfere with his movements.

Jarveena's body is difficult to look at. Her skin is criss-crossed by scars that tell the story of her brutal maiming. Her shattered kneecap sits at an odd angle. The burn scars on her face and neck extend downward to her chest. Where her left breast should have been, there lies instead an angry mass of livid scar tissue. Gazing upon her, Frick can almost feel every savage punch and kick, each cruel cut and burn dealt by people Jarveena grew up with - people she trusted.

While Rygnar actively ignores the view of Elspa bathing and doesn't give Ygne a second glance, he seems transfixed by Jarveena; whether it is from arousal or something else, it is difficult to tell from the stoic behemoth.
[ +- ] Should make this known

Studying Jarveena with a praticed eye,
If you want one day, you could let me look at your knee. Even if the chances are small of me finding a way to fix it, maybe I can find a way to ease the pain in the joints...
He then proceeds to the top of the stairs.
OOC:
Moss looks at Jarvenna with a cold and calculating eye, nobody looking can think he did it in a sexual way.

Elspa did not disrobe for this bathing session, only touching her face, hair, and exposed areas like her neck and arms. The ivory rod that was given to her still lies in the sand, and the stink of troglodytes has not gone away.

Moss and Ygne ascends the stair to where the masked figures make their silent vigil. You discover they are heavily perfumed, smelling of myrrh and sweet oils. You see only one weapon on their person, an ornately decorated curved dagger that hangs in the small of their back, again adorned with copper. They make no room for you to walk past their ranks, and make no indication that they acknowledge your presence.

Moss and Ygne can see more of the village from this vantage point, and have a few minutes to observe it. You notice that most of the village inhabitants are children and the elderly. Most are busy with the various village industries: tanning hides, thatching roofs, descaling fish, weaving baskets. Drumming music comes from one corner of the village where members appear to be practicing an intricately choreographed dance, and you notice that She Who Has Been Beyond the Reef is leading the group.

A few inhabitants stand out among the rest:

On one of the bridges, a heavily-muscled warrior with a painted skull mask moves through sword exercises with a massive greatsword. His movements are more brutal than graceful.

From one of the largest huts in the village, another figure in black observes you. This one wears a white mask (this one has eye holes) and a cloak of black feathers.

Jarveena doesn't notice Rygnar looking. If she had, it would have given her pause. Since her maiming, no man nor woman has looked at Jarveena with anything close to desire, and she expects no one ever will. She's long come to terms with the fact that she's been made ugly inside and out.

She does flinch from Moss' appraisal, but with less than her usual venom. Had there been any pity in the man's voice, her response wouldn't have been so kind. "Fuck off. I'm fine."

Frick follows with the others.
Apr 9, 2017 2:37 am
Jarveena moves to follow the others up the stairs.
Apr 9, 2017 2:42 am
Rygnar follows Elspa but gives Jarveena and only Jarveena, occasional glances. If Elspa notices, she would find it odd behavior from him; if Jarveena notices, Rygnar quickly looks away.

The six masked figures still do not move, and it has begun to gather the attention of the villagers. Grandmothers usher their children indoors, and the music comes to a halt.

She Who Has Been Beyond the Reef marches over, her face flush. She speaks from behind the six, who do not move even for her.

"What in fuck actually is happening? First Hunter of the Grey Pack and Iron Wolf of the Sea Witch, why have you not cleaned yourself and your serving man?" She directs these words to Elspa only.
Apr 9, 2017 5:48 pm
"We are clean enough," says Elspa, folding her arms across her chest. With a shake of her head, she continues, "Look, I washed my hair."
