Obokorth University is located near the rolling hills in the western part of Feyshear. The center of the campus is dominated by a massive Greek-style building, complete with twisty pillars and statues depicting some of the foremost magical scholars since the end of the
Desolation as well as a few of the influential figures from before the
Great Mage War. Within Obokorth Hall are large lecture halls, sweeping marble staircases to the various upper offices, and paintings of former headmasters along the hallways.
Near to the Obokorth Hall is one of the newest buildings, the library. It's a strange construction of red bricks and white window and door frames. Within the library is a central desk that serves as a catalog of book locations. Beyond are row, after row, after row of bookcases filled floor to ceiling. There are multiple floors of books, each row with their own enchanted ladders enabling searchers to find what they seek. The space between the door and the central desk is a large atrium, sweeping four floors high, ending in a giant skylight that allows sunlight to pour into the main body of the space.
Down the center of the main floor, behind the circulation desk, is a long row of massive desks, complete with lamps and comfortable chairs for studying. At the very back is the staircase set for accessing the upper levels. Two large sets curve up and in, forming a large C-shaped alcove which features a fountain with a book topper. Hidden away from view, behind the fountain, is a heavy golden and wrought iron gate blocking off a twisting descending staircase. This leads to the basement, an area where all restricted or otherwise forbidden knowledge and works are stored. It takes special dispensation from the University to access this location.
Down the sides of the main floor, and scattered along the other floors, are private rooms where students can sequester themselves for peaceful study.
Across from Obokorth Hall, is another Greek-style building, although far smaller. The pillars have been removed, and instead feature magnificent statues. To the left of the entrance as you approach are the four Magelords from the final battle in the
Great Mage War. Further to the left are other key figures from the
Desolation. To the right of the entrance are the most important figures from the rise of Feyshear, including Elizeth Obokorth, the founder of the University. Within the halls of this building, Remembrance Hall, is the history department. Featuring smaller lecture halls and tutoring rooms, the biggest claim this hall boasts is a stunning collection of Pre-War and Pre-Desolation memorabilia. The proctors of the department will pay exorbitant sums of gold for verifiable artifacts from the era.
Other buildings surrounding the rounded square of campus are a few dining halls and entertainment buildings, with a theater and a bar.
In the middle of the square is a massive piece of art. The thirty foot tall statue depicts the final clash over Wyrmfall Deeps at the very moment the lake itself was created. Featuring the four Magelords atop their dragons, their spells clashing in a torrent of magical energy. Unlike most other sculptures, Obokorth commissioned sculptors and wizards both to permanently enchant the construction with living magic. Drawn from the leylines of the world itself, the clash of magic is actually a finely wrought spell and the flickering and dancing beams spiraling down into the water below are actual magic, and totally unpredictable how they will move each day.
Spread around outside this main ring are buildings housing the other departments, ranging from the more technical studies of engineering and mathematics, to the delicate arts of languages, music and fine arts.
