Tonton crosses to the alcove to quickly check and make sure there's nothing awaiting them.
May 1, 2016 6:04 am
Urki watching Tonton, leans against the wall and listens.

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+3)

(17) + 3 = 20

May 1, 2016 9:01 pm
An elaborate bonsai with a treehouse sit in the alcove as well as a an open and empty scroll tube. Urki you put your ear to the close wall and you can hear the faint whisper of a scroll being rolled open on the other side of it.
May 2, 2016 8:02 pm
"Guys, I think there is someone in there... I can't make out exactly what's happening maybe reading? Careful."
May 2, 2016 8:13 pm
Tonton attempts to slip into the next room, where Urki has indicated there was a presence.
OOC:
Is there a door, or some portal that would enable access to that room?

Rolls

Stealth - (1d20+10)

(9) + 10 = 19

May 2, 2016 8:18 pm
Utamuro loosens his katana in its sheath and nods to TonTon, indicating that he should take a look.

Sliding fusuma doors lead into the next area along the western wall. Urki indicates that the person is waiting directly on the other side. Urki can tell that they are making very little noise, as even the scroll unfurling is measured and slow to hide its noise. If it wasn't for his trained ear, he probably would not have heard anything at all. Tonton pads silently towards the west of the room.
May 3, 2016 11:27 pm
Tonton turns his grip on his wakizashi. He slides open the door and lunges through in the direction of the scroll reader, intent on spearing whom he believes is the undead samurai on the other side with all his weight behind the thrust. Already he is planning his next move to disappear after the initial strike.
OOC:
I'm assuming I have advantage since the target hasn't taken a combat turn yet. If not, disregard the second attack roll.

Rolls

Attack, advantage from Assassinate - (1d20+7, 1d20+7)

1d20+7 : (6) + 7 = 13

1d20+7 : (10) + 7 = 17

Damage, critical (if hit) - (2d6+4)

(64) + 4 = 14

Bonus action to Hide - (1d20+10)

(9) + 10 = 19

May 6, 2016 12:06 am
Tonton pushes open the door and leaps through with his wakizashi. The Widow's armor takes the blow and turns the blade. As the ninja closes the distance, the samurai reads from scroll. Arcane energies pull at Tonton.

Tonton, roll Constitution saving throw.
May 6, 2016 12:53 am
Tonton barely has time to tch himself at his predicament.

Rolls

Constitution - (1d20)

(13) = 13

May 6, 2016 1:10 am
The magicks pull at your body and you can feel parts of you shrinking down. Your body is well trained though and by concentrating your muscles, you push through the effects of the spell. You can see the Widow sneer and draw her sword. "Tougher than your friends. All that remains is to see how much tougher." You see the samurai strike a defensive stance with her sword out before her.
May 6, 2016 1:18 am
Seeing that combat is joined, Utamuro steps out from behind the door. He takes on a battle stance, feet wide, one hand resting on the hilt of his katana.
May 6, 2016 1:20 am
Once everyone has taken a combat turn, the Widow will take theirs. She is presently dodging.
May 6, 2016 1:24 am
Utamuro rushes forward, drawing his katana and launching a powerful diagonal attack. He then adjusts his grip and swings down in an overhead chop.
OOC:
DC 15:

1st is a trip attack: When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to knock the target down. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and if the target is Large or smaller, it must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, you knock the target prone.

2nd attack will be a goading strike:
When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to goad the target into attacking you. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target has disadvantage on all attack rolls against targets other than you until the end of your next turn.

If he fails the first save, then my second attack will be a regular attack (no disadvantage). Add 6 damage to the first strike and 8 damage to the second if they hit.

The Widow sees the sweeping attack a moment just in time and moves her body to roll with the first swing, raising her sword just in time to catch Utamuro's blade. Sparks are thrown as the force of the heavy blow is diverted along the length of her blade.

Rolls

STR ST - (1d20+7)

(9) + 7 = 16

Feng swoops in after Tonton and Utamuro. There is hardly room here for the sweeping strikes favored by the Kuang Fong ("wild wind") style but the Golden Talon monks certainly did not lack for training in other fighting styles. Feng leads with his spear, jabbing repeatedly in a deadly blur. Then, planting the butt of his spear in the tatami floor and using it as a pivot, he lashes out with taloned kicks to the Widow's face: Hungry Crane Assault
OOC:
*Two spear attacks (two-handed) against the Widow: spending one ki for a Stunning Strike, and another one if she makes her CON save (DC 14) against the first. Another ki for Flurry of Blows. If any of the flurries hit she must save (DEX, DC 14) or be knocked prone (Open Talon Technique).
OOC:
EDIT: Oops, I forgot that attacks are at disadvantage due to her Dodging. Adding a 2nd set of attack rolls.

Urki watches all of this unfold and realizes his teammates attacks are barely hitting. He rushes in with a mace in his right hand and his left hand extended. He closes his eyes briefly and murmur's a Gnomish prayer cast a deadly spell on the widow.

Rolls

Spell attack: Inflict Wounds level 2 - (1d20+6)

(4) + 6 = 10

Inflict Wounds level 2 necrotic damage - (4d10)

Tonton uses the swirling combat to dance in and out of melee, thrusting once for a gap in the Widow's armor before attempting to slip back behind the other warriors.
OOC:
I'd like to use Cunning Action to Hide. I think typically hiding after combat has started doesn't work, but perhaps with three other people surrounding one target, Tonton can count as Hiding for advantage on his next attack? If he can't, then ignore the Hide roll and he'll remain in melee range.

Fēng's strikes land precisely on pressure points that have stopped foes dead in their tracks, piercing vulnerablities in the Widow's armor but his spear slashes at deadened nerves. The samurai deftly backs just out of reach of the flying talons.

Urki runs forward to touch her but she easily side steps him, pivoting on her lead foot in a wide arc, watching as the gnome rushes past her just enough to let Tonton sneak his blade into her neck. A spurt of black unguent blood sprays forth from the wound and a hand quickly shoots up to cover the leak.

The Widow snears at the four attackers.

''I will wear your blood on my steel!"

The widow holds her sword out, slowly inching her pivot foot out, widening her stance. You hear her utter a command word, "Seichō shimasu." The sword in her hands grows almost double it's length and you see her adjust her grip to a strong two handed grip. She swings at Feng twice. "Your kind is my favorite type of child. I've never tasted the flesh of full grown flying monk. I shall carve you and make a stew."

The Widow regenerates 10hp on her turn. Bonus action to activate her sword. It grows into a greatsword. Multiattack against Fēng.

Rolls

Greatsword Attack 1 vs Fēng - (1d20+8)

(14) + 8 = 22

Greatsword Attack 1 Damage - (2d6+5)
