Heading north, the tunnel curves harshly eastward. As the tunnel curves, a fungus-filled chamber opens up to the north and the path continues up a steep, gravel-covered slope to the southeast

"Are these safe to eat?" Hunter asks, referring to the fungi. Inwardly she reminisces on the king's banquet at Gauntlgrym, and sighs.

After looking them over for a couple of minutes, Xeliss is able to determine that they are safe to eat. The room is full of them and, if time was spent gathering them, could probably feed the whole group for several days.

Hunter spends some time gathering whatever mushrooms she can, stuffing them into her bag and squirreling a few inside her robes. Satisfied that the group's provisions have been replenished, she moves up the slope.

As you move through the tunnels, you enter a large chamber. This 30-foot-high chamber is dimly lit by luminescent lichen. Thousands of bones carpet the cavern floor, including many recognizable as humanoid (primarily dwarf, elf, and goblin) and some belonging to strange and unidentifiable creatures. A crack in the south wall appears to lead into another chamber.

"That's not good," whispers Hunter. "Seems like the dining room for something with peculiar tastes." She looks for a way to cross the cavern without stepping on any bones, and maybe see if there's anything interesting among them.

The next cavern is quite a bit smaller than the previous one. The 30-foot-high unlit cavern has a twenty-foot-wide pit in its center, which descends far out of your view. Thirty feet down is a small ledge holding the skeletal remains of an adventurer clad in moldering leather armor.
There are no other exits to the chamber.

Hanne shrugs, "I'm not sure what purple worms would need with a garbage pit..." she says, motioning through the tunnel toward the mess of humanoid bones in the prior room.

"Who or what else reside here?" Hunter asks. She takes out some iron spikes, a hammer, and some rope. "Sarith, help me set this up into the pit there. Let's see if our solitary skeletal friend there has anything to say."

Sarith nods, "Sure," he says, helping to set up the spikes for an easy climb down before climbing deftly down. "Seems sturdy," he calls up from the ledge.

Hunter descends into the pit, looking to see if anything of significance might account for this lone individual's fate, compared to the mixed pile in the other chamber.

There are no obvious clues as to what might have brought this person down here, but Hunter does spot a ring on the skeleton's finger that's in good shape.

Hunter pokes the ring with her finger, and if nothing happens she attempts to take the ring off. She also inspects the armor to see if it's serviceable, perhaps for Elayna.

The ring doesn't react in any way to being poked and Hunter can easily remove the ring from the skeletal finger. The armor is rotted beyond usefulness and wouldn't be helpful to Elayna.

Pursing her lips at the failure to glean anything significant about this lone persons' demise, Hunter pockets the ring and makes the climb back to the group.
"That could have gone better," she says upon her return. "Let's see if we can find a way out of this area."
