Guardians of Gurrai [ EDIT ]

The history of Gurrai is well known. Long ago, three mysterious towers known as Skylinks were all that stood in the Amorphous Fields, next to the Maelstrom. The purpose of the Skylinks was soon discovered by our ancestors: They siphoned unimaginable amounts o numenerical energy from the nearby Maelstrom, for purposes unknown.
We soon raised a multileveled city of cities around the ancient towers in less than a hundred years, the secret behind the mile high citys growth being the energy of the Skylinks and our superior knowledge of science.
Now, as we all know, the raids on Gurrai from the Maelstrom have been exponentially increasing, the mobs growing larger and ever more frightening.
The Lord of Might makes a mocking face of fear, and then grins.
Other inferior peoples bow and scrape, accepting that life as they know it will forever be slavery to the ancients and their constructs, to the horrors of our history and the numenera! They are stupid and weak. The age of reverence for the past and numenera is over, let us banish it forever and rise to power with our own strength.
With that, the Lord of Power importantly presses buttons on a plastic board, and behind him white armored doors open with an exaggerated flourish, revealing a gigantic metal automaton several dozen times higher than the members of the court. Every inch of the oddly proportioned machine is covered with misshapen human crafted armor plating.
This is the Type-01 Shira, the first ever machine of its kind, produced exclusively by our city. This is not any form of that abomination numenera, this automaton is a Gurraian Defenser, the perfect way to encase our soldiers in pure power. Our city will never fear a raid again.
With the crazed Lords speech, Gurraian Defensers were mass produced. They were effective against the ever growing raiders, and the city of Gurrai has enjoyed peace for forty seven years.
Today, you and your group launch, piloting new Type-12 Zorahi Defensers to wipe up small fry that crawl towards the city.
Just another raid.
OOC: Hi everyone, I know that for many Numenera players my description here probably threw a couple of you off. But whether you love or hate it, this game will still be uniquely Numenera, so dont worry. Your characters will still explore the world, and the fantasy element will also draw breath in the world and in the lower cities of Gurrai. Ill also try to make the new rules for mecha as simple and streamlined as possible as well, as well as keep the mecha themselves close to what would be in Numenera. However, a large focus of this story will be on Gurrai, and protecting it from the outside, and from itself.
If you love mecha, anime, epic tales, and stories of human survival, this game is your destiny.
*Note: It's not a requirement, but this game will be a more fast paced post and play, and posting at least two times a day is recommended. I'll be on semi frequently after work hours, so I'll also be available to post and answer PMs and such.
*Another note: The rules for the automatons aren't hammered down just yet, and the story is still a work in progress as well. Warning:This story may be emotionally taxing and slightly traumatizing. Don't let this intimidate you, this game is going to be pretty crazy no matter what!

All human, please. Otherwise, anything goes from the player or option books. Be whoever you want to be. Flesh out your backstories, motivations, flaws, etcetera, as this game will be character oriented, and Ill try to make a story that is tailored to you. The only requirement for your character is to provide a reason why she is now part of the Defenser group. (You can skip this step until we flesh out the world of Gurrai more too) Maybe her Lord father forced her to be a runner (pilot), maybe he grew up in the lowest poorest levels of Gurrai (which resemble more normal Numenera aldeia and low tech cities) and clawed his way into the runners hoping for a better life.
