Flashpoint - Is it the end ? [ EDIT ]

Everything was normal on Earth. Yes there were still wars. Trump surprised the world by becoming the President Elect. Protests raged and excuses were being made. Brexit happened and the Italian referendum took place. Christmas was on the horizon and the stock market was rising even with a brief drop when the Fed tinkered with interest rates. Then strange things started happening. Several quakes happened around the world and tsunamis hit shores. It was all being handled but then reports came in of a nuclear war occurring in South America. Governments denied this was happening claiming that hackers were somehow breaking into news channels. Then worse things started to happen. Reports a three hundred foot wave was rushing towards the east coast of the US. People filled the phone lines overwhelming service to check on loved ones. While scientists and the media said this was not happening. Yet many could not contact their loved ones.
Word of nuclear weapons being launched in Asia took place but verification was hard to tell due to an EMP of great magnitude wiping out contact with China.
Many people were claiming it was the end of the world. Conspiracy theorists were claiming the governments were hiding things. Suicide rates rose. America went to Defcon 1 and finally President Obama called for complete government control over the media to calm things down. This caused a huge backlash of mistrust.
People turned to the internet to find what was going on. Strange EMPs happened in several cities causing complete blackouts and the worry of people trying to check on loved ones.
Even with the media shut down transmissions still came describing and showing devastation throughout the world. People in these areas who could denied the stories.
Almost buried in all these stories reports that an entire family of big foot was just captured. Other reports of creatures of myth were taking place and of course were denied by the government.
What was happening, what was going on ?
Was it some hacker simply trying to cause chaos ?
Was it the prelude to a military takeover ?
Were survivalists and conspiracy theorists correct and this was just an excuse to deny the election results for another four years of Obama rule ?
All the while snow fell and Christmas music and decorations were in the backdrop of all this chaos.
