Lantan: The Jeweled Isles [ EDIT ]
This game has been retired! That means it's no longer being run.
The Isles of Lantan have returned to Faerun from Abeir recently but are not yet ready to open themselves to the wider world. The power of their artifice and their faith in Gond will likely make them a world power but the Lantanese must brave many dangers, will you heed the call to join the Home Guard and protect Lantan from foreign assault?

Lantan Jeweled Isle
At this time I do not have a copy of Xanathar?s so I cannot comment on the materials therein. If you wish to advocate for their inclusion try to imagine what place they might have in Lantanese society and let me know what role you feel they might play in the game.
Character Creation
Step 1: Race
Permitted Races include all PHB races; UA: Ebberon Shifter, Warforged (Gondborn); elemental Evil: Goliath, Genasi
Step 2: Class
Permitted classes include all PHB classes; From UA: revised ranger, College of Whispers, Cleric Forge Domain (Gond), Druid Circle of the Shepherd, Fighter Archetypes Scout and Sharpshooter, Monastic Tradition Way of the Kensai (Firearm), Rogue Archetypes Inquisistive and Scout, Sorcerous Origin Favoured Soul (Blessed of Gond) and Sea Sorcery, Warlock patron The Seeker, Wizard tradition Artificier and lore master.
Deities: Lantan is a Theocracy as such Gond is seen as the most important god, other relevant gods include Oghma, Milil, Deneir and outside the cities Mielikki. Their domains as are presented in the PHB, except that Gond grants access to the Forge domain.
Firearms: Gond gifted the gnomes of Lantan with the secret of creating smoke powder, a magical-alchemical version of gun powder. Smoke powder is similar to gun powder but is smokier than black powder and, if anything, more volatile. Smoke powder can combust simply with contact to air. For this reason access to smoke powder is carefully restricted, it is largely outlawed for any person to be carrying more than 10 measures of smoke powder. However this also means that Lantanese have access to firearms. For this campaign Renaissance firearms, as they appear on p. 368 of the DMG, are available. Firearms are considered martial weapons and proficiency with them may be selected as part of a limited number of martial proficiencies or is included as part complete proficiency with martial weapons. Due to their high cost (250 gp for a pistol and 500 gp for a rifle) firearms may not be selected as part of starting gear packages provided by either class or background.
Step 3: Ability Scores
Please use the Standard Array:15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8
Step 4: Background
Permitted Backgrounds include all PHB Backgrounds.
Step 5: Trinket
Please roll a trinket from the Elemental Evil trinket table, which can found here: http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/elemental-evil-trinkets
Backstory: Lantan is heavily divided between urban and rural. The capitol of Lantan is Sambar where citizens enjoy some of the most advanced technology in the Realms. There artificiers and clerics of Gond push the bounderies of technology and magic higher and further than has been possible in any other place, in any other time in the history of the Realms.
Outside the cities Lantan is a temperate rainforest not unlike the pacific northwest of the United State or Vancouver Island. These deeply forested and nigh impenetrable hills and mountains are home to shifters, wood elves, goliaths and forest gnomes. These sparse inhabitants were once deemed uncivilised and of no importance to the city-dwelling Lantans, but in the wake of the spellplague they proved invaluable.
The tragedy of the spellplague brought about an alliance between the unsettled forest-dwellers and the technologically advanced city-dwellers that has been crucial to the survival of everyone living on the three isles of Lantan.
When Lantan returned to Toril this alliance was tested but has not broken. The goal of the alliance was to preserve the secrecy of Lantan in order to eventually emerge onto the world stage as a great power in order to protect Lantan from exploitation by mainland powers.
The Home Guard has recruited you to help protect Lantan from the inevitable external threats.
