May 15th is Heroes' Day Parade in Halcyon City, and even by it's City of Adventure standards, it is in a joyous mood. Paragons of the City find the time they can to march and lead the parade, figures surviving from the Silver Age recieve achievement awards in glorious ceremonies. Inevitably some supervillain tries to make a name for themselves in some fashion, but is quickly brought down by the sheer number of assembled supers in one place.
But in the crowd this year, or marching quietly in marching band uniforms, as volunteers, or very much in the shadows of their much loftier superiors, are the kids and young adults who will inherit those lofty mantles themselves. But the world is changing. Life is getting complicated. World politics are getting simultaniously more extreme but more colorful. And they're growing up.
Where will they be come next year's parade?
