Background
I grew up in the city, where we moved around a lot to be closer to the doctors who cared for me. I contracted a nasty sickness early on in life which slowed the growth of my muscles. As a result I learned to run and hide from bullies, and spent most of my time practicing my Isho and reading/learning.

Upbringing: Did you know your parents? What were your parents' occupations? You get two additional skill points for skills that would have applied to a parent or adults who raised you. These could be applied to a new skill, or could increase existing skills that you have - it's what you picked up from them as a child.

Why did you leave home, or why did you stay? You can come up with an answer for this yourself, or you can roll randomly (1d100, and I'll tell you the results).

Siblings:
None

Friends:
1. Varyck
Varyck was a close friend of mine growing up, a Bronth of exceeding strength and loyalty. He watched over me when I could not because of my slow development. Not exceedingly intelligent he counted on Elvar and I to handle any intellectual problems that came his way. When Elvar and I began fighting he stopped speaking to either one of us until we can make up.

2. Elvar
Elvar was my closest friend growing up, a Muadra of similar intelligence and drive. We have always had a sort of friendly rivalry between us. Due to my physical limitations I spent more time honing my skills with Isho and eventually surpassed his skills. We have both been attempting to gain citizenship and our relationship has turned sour, as I tend to get better jobs than he. He is severely jealous of my success and, tired of his jealousy, I have begun specifically trying to gain citizenship before he does.

3. Dad
My mother died when I was very young, leaving my father to take care of me on his own. He was often gone, working long hours to provide for me. I was always close to him, enjoying our time together when he was home. He was always very protective due to my condition. When I told him that I was going to apply for citizenship it nearly broke him, he fought with me for a long time, saying that it was too dangerous with my condition to leave home. We haven't spoken very often since. I fully intend to take good care of him once I achieve my goals.

Fascination: There's something that draws you to adventure, an interest, passion, or motivation that fuels your willingness to brave danger and explore the unknown. What is it? Here's some ideas:

Learning, Power, and Isho/Dyshas are my passions

Adventures:

Racial Attitudes:
Though slow to trust, I am very open to other races and seek to understand each person based on their own merit.

Knowing each other: You know and get along well with at least one other PC. Describe how you met and what your attitudes are about that player character.

Now you can write about past adventures, or you can just incorporate them as you go in the game thread.

All that really remains for you to be game complete is to describe how you know the others in the introductions thread, and to choose your initial foci.
Sep 25, 2015 3:40 pm
I think I may incorporate them as we go, when I learn a little bit more about the way this Tothis thing works :)

Great. Foci?

Game Introductions thread: here

Game thread (in progress): here

Foci will be in....

Will also learn by success....

One other question. How do I learn a new Dysha? Do I just attempt to use it and put a focus in it? Or is there a process?

Dysha

Desti

Flora Recognition

Fauna Recognition

Healer

Don't take these are guaranteed, may change before gameplay starts :)

I'm working on an Isho/Dysha article. But in the meantime:

To learn a new dysha, you must meet prerequisites, spend isho points to roll against COLOR, and then spend color points to roll against the Moon skills. If you accomplish all this, you gain the dysha at Familiar.

These are the prerequisites:
* - the PC must have the requisite Moon skill ranks
and
* - the PC must be taught by someone else with that dysha skill (or a "hishtin" (a boccord specialist in training muadra caji)
An exception to this is with dyshas that are "easy" difficulty. Those you can teach yourself, as long as you've observed the dysha in action.

Having met the prerequisites, you spend the isho you'd use to cast the dysha for a roll against your COLOR. There are situational modifiers to this roll: bonuses for teaching, penalties for dysha difficulty/complexity. Succeeding here means that you've understood the dysha well enough to try casting it.

Then you spend color points (remember those, from your derived statistics?) and more isho points to roll a check against each Moon skill that is required for the dysha. Here again you get situational modifiers to the rolls (it's easier with instruction). If you are able to succeed in all the required checks, you gain the dysha at Familiar (with possibly some bonus ranks, depending on how easy/hard it was to learn).

Any ideas for a special item?
Sep 28, 2015 6:11 am
Crystals would be the most useful to you - they have instant effects OR can be used as isho batteries you can drain for more isho points - but having an artifact that may or may not do something useful is always fun.

Which appeals to you more...an alien relic, or crystals?
Sep 28, 2015 6:12 am
Just for the fun of it, and the mystery, lets go with a relic :)

Marik was once on a solo courier mission west to the thriddle city of Cosahmi. En route, he stopped in Kaigon. Unfortunately, while he was there, a cell of Maustin Caji attacked the town, and a mob of angry citizens stormed the streets eking out punishment on any suspicious muadra. Chaos ensued, with rioting and burning of buildings. This led to Marik's fleeing the destruction in fear of his life, along with a number of other muadra toth refugees. One couple led the group to their old farmhouse as several mounted groups passed by - it wasn't clear whether they were out for blood, or yords sent to restore order - and the house was put to the torch. Unable to exit the building due to the mob waiting outside, they fled their way down to a root cellar, and Marik treated a number of burns with his dyshas. The next morning, order had been restored, and the cleanup began. The farmers were grateful for his help, and they offered a token of their esteem: an old artifact that they'd found in a field. They didn't know what it was, but it was old, and might be valuable, particularly to someone who might someday be a Drenn. Since then, you've had a number of Iscin examine the item, and they've not been able to identify it. It doesn't have the gene-lock mechanisms that an Earth-tec item would have. An older caji mentioned once that its shape - vaguely like a large "C" - reminded him of a sarceen, the shanthic device for imparting knowledge. But everyone you've had look at it have vowed that it is not a sarceen.

Bored at work, looking through the rule book.

It says that if we take the option to roll stats we should roll a d3 for each group of stats to distribute as we please (Page 50, under "Generating Characteristics by Rolling"). Should we also do this, or just skip it?
Oct 1, 2015 7:14 am
I'm skipping it in favor of the faster character improvement rules we're using.
