The Story So Far
Having survived a furious storm, the Kestrel finds itself in unfamiliar waters. Oxbox says:
Khiiral weaves illusion magic and twists shadows into his arrow as is sails toward its target shrouding the eyes of the larger of the two lizards. He then continues his assault.
(79 Damage on Trex))
(Target is blinded outside of 5’ range until the end of Khiiral's next turn.)
Dramasailor says:
Jack runs in, drawing his rapier and an axe on the move, stabbing and slashing at the bigger of the two, in wild disregard for his own safety. (One hit for 7 piercing damage)
The_Librarian says:
Ian takes aim and shoots the larger lizard.
(27 to hit. 14 damage)

Are you having the sabre-tooth do anything? The dinos will be next. I've put Grog in the last group.

Mistakenly put everyone at max HP in the tracker. Will correct it shortly.

EDIT: Looks like I've lost my notes from before. Fuck it, fresh slate - everyone has full HP and abilities! Rock & roll, y'all!

Ian, Jack, and Khiiral have already acted. It's the dinosaurs' turn unless sabre-tooth is acting. Right now the cat is friendliest towards Khiiral and Zale, so I'll let @Ox or @Camp control it. Here are its stats.
Jan 29, 2019 2:47 pm
OOC:
Not sure if the others will agree, but I wouldn't risk our pet getting killed. I think we've got this without help.

Dodge action for the saber-tooth.

Round 1: Dinosaurs

Music

The allosaurus goes for the larger lizard's flank, but its teeth hardly nick the tyrranosaur's thick skin.

The enraged Jungle Tyrant chomps down on the smaller dinosaur's neck, (36 piercing vs. Allosaurus) and shakes it around savagely. Its muscular tail whips around and slams into Jack's legs, almost knocking him off his feet! (25 bludgeoning damage vs. Jack)

As Grog finally manages to find the party that was sent out some time ago whilst he was asleep below deck on the Kestrel. However, upon seeing the dinos, some very rusty and cobweb encrusted cogs in his head start to spin.
Taking his trusty greataxe, he scampers over to a tree closest to the raging reptiles, and starts hacking at its trunk to cause it to fall on top of them. All the while making a series of loud, guteral grunts.

Round 1: Grog
OOC:
It would take far more than 10 damage to fell one of these trees, but I like the use of a battlefield feature. So 10 bludgeoning damage to the T-Rex, and Grog gets Inspiration.

You have Extra Attack, so you can go again.

@Cave: the dinos are close to the trees.
Jan 30, 2019 12:33 pm
As Grog chops down the tree, Zale runs up the falling tree-trunk and leaps onto the Jungle Tyrant's head just as the timber crashes onto its spine. Then he pummels the lizard with his fists before leaping an impossible away to float down to the ground like a feather.

Round 1: Zale

Zale's punches rock the Jungle Tyrant even harder than the tree that fell on it. The drunken monk hits a vital nerve, and the dinnosaur finds itself unable to move!
OOC:
Jungle Tyrant takes 17 bludgeoning damage, and is Stunned! (T-Rex cannot take actions, autofails DEX & STR saves, attacks against it have Advantage)

Zale gains Inspiration.

Phillip is up. Grog also still has a 2nd attack.

Round 1: Phillip

Infuriated at losing the majority of his wardrobe, Phillip goes crazy atop the stunned Jungle Tyrant's head, hacking away repeatedly at its thick skull with his greataxe. (39 damage)
OOC:
Just Grog's 2nd attack remaining, then I can recap the round, we can begin the next.
Grog's 2nd attack misses. I'll move us forward shortly.

Round 2: Ian

Ian's quarrel buries itself to the fletching in the monster's eye. With a final earth-shaking roar, the Jungle Tyrant falls to the ground, dead! A cacophony erupts from the jungle around you. Screeching and roaring and mewling joined in a collective wail. Even the trees seem to shudder. The smaller dinosaur takes a step back.

Phillip, you can sense fear in the allosaurus. The little bird you befriended screeches,You killed it! Now you ded! You killed Prince, now King comes! NOW YOU DED!"

Jack, Khiiral, and Saber-tooth can act in any order.

OOC:
Is the allosaurus still threatening us? What else is there?
Feb 1, 2019 4:04 am
OOC:
1. not to be a stickler but rage ends my concentration on spells. 2.
Phillip crawls off the downed dino and starts piling his clothes and weeping for they are now torn to shreads. And the monkeys too but mostly the clothes.
Feb 1, 2019 7:53 am
OOC:
Totally forgot that was a spell and not a class ability. In that case, you don't know why, but the whole jungle is going apeshit.

The allosaurus looks like it wants to GTFO, but hasn't moved yet. What do you do?
Feb 1, 2019 10:53 am
Khiiral points at the allosaurus and nods to the Sabre-toothed tiger. The agile cat quickly flanks the lizard and pounces trying to bite and claw.
OOC:
If the allosaurus fails the strength save the tiger can attempt the claw attack as a bonus action.
Khiiral fires two arrows from his longbow that quickly follows the large beasts attack.

Round 2: Khiiral & Kitty, Jack.

The saber-tooth pounces, burying its claws in the allosaurus' flanks (14 damage). The dinosaur stumbles from the ferocious attack, but manages to keep its footing as it turns to flee. But then Khiiral's arrow slams into its throat, and it's dead before it hits the ground. Combat over!

The ground begins to shake, followed by a tremendous roar as a column of dark ash erupts from the solitary peak in the center of the island.

Zale points up at the erupting volcano. "I figure he'll be wanting to get the Kestrel away from that. He'll be angry if we come back empty-handed though. Let's take a dinosaur carcass with us! And that tree Grog cut down will be good for timber!"
OOC:
I'm hoping those items will fit in the Bag of Holding!
Feb 4, 2019 6:30 am
OOC:
Bag of Holding holds up to 500 pounds. That tree and that dinosaur each weigh in excess of 2 tons! You could take the time to cut and stow a portion, but you might be putting yourselves at risk from either the volcano (only a couple of miles away) or more island denizens (could be anywhere). What do you do?
Feb 4, 2019 10:56 am
"Let’s not push our luck! We should get back to the Kestrel." turning away from the dinosaurs, Khiiral heads back towards the boat thinking about it his new feline friend would enjoy being on the water.
Feb 4, 2019 11:37 am
We could use the bloody tree...if we work together we can drag it out
Feb 4, 2019 1:45 pm
Khiiral looks back in the direction of the ship then sighs "You’re right. We need a new mast..."

He fishes into his pack and pulls out a length of rope and starts tying it to the tree and quickly makes a harness for the Saber-Toothed Tiger. Gently petting the tiger he tries to get the beast to help.

It's a hell of a tough job. But with Grog roughly chopping branches, and everyone, even the saber-tooth pulling, you are able to haul the log down to the beach. Though you are wary of more predators, all the island denizens ignore you in their panicked flight from the volcano, which is now spewing molten rock, and the island is blanketed in a cloud of choking ash.

Everyone now has Inspiration, but also suffer Level 1 Exhaustion from the exertion. Roll CON saves vs. DC 15 or also suffer the Poisoned condition due to smoke inhalation.

You've retrieved your boat. Now how do you get the log to the ship?

From the deck of the Kestrel, Valrakas watches the men in the rowboat struggling to make headway. "Dammit! Can't those beefy fuckers row?! "That's if they don't drown first!" As Valrakas speaks, the boat gets tossed around this way and that by the waves, almost capsizing. The log they're dragging behind them smashes against their stern, nearly turning the boat into kindling! "Git on that winged horse o' yours an' help them!" he roars at Nela.
OOC:
Alright, what is everybody doing? Assuming you guys are just too Exhausted to row effectively, how are you all saving this rowboat and the crew?

To be sure Nela did fall in love with the big kitty. Has ever since she saw it on the row boat. It would have looked so sorry to if the row boat had capsized. I'm sure that it hates water like most all felines. She has +8 Animal Handle and +8 Medicine to take care of it. I'm sure Domare, her hawk, has decided not to be on Nela shoulder so much as that is in paw range of the kitty cat. No more pirate style parakeet moves for Domare.

So who's idea was it to bring back the kitty? Nela wants to know who to favor. Not that, that is a blessing, but surely better than being on her bad side. (Like opsie that wasn't a curing herb, I think that I used ARSONIC...)

Now to pan off the responsibility to clean up after it.....

We all agreed to bring it back. Good ship needs a good cat

Shear size should make rodents just die. I don't think that I would ever want it hunting me.

After Grog climbs back on board, walks right up to Ian, stamps his foot a bit, and says this, and only this: "Grog!"

"I've got you, my friend." Zale says, offering the monosyllabic barbarian a drink from his own flask.

Nela smiles at the miniature man (dwarf) and more so for the Tiger. "Good your none were hurt today."

Jack rubs his head as he stumbles back onto the boat. Not all of us are free from injury doc. Caught a dino tail to the sack, really did a number on me. he says, still cringing from the assault on his person.

"Lets get you up in my quarters and have a look at it. Can't be too bad your still standing." as she is eye'ing him down.

Khiiral slowly pulls himself up to the deck of the Kestrel "I’m just glad we’re not still stuck in the water. I guess we have Nela to thank for that." he says rubbing his shoulder "My body is not made for rowing." Khiiral watches Nela eying the large feline "We won him over with food. An animal after mine own heart."

Nela responds back "I didn't think you were going to make it. Me and Cap were getting worried." As she looks at the Tiger, "She is a sweet thang. She looks hurt? She can end up in quarters too." She just assumes it is tame enough cause they manage to even get it on a boat over the SEA.

Grog tries to imitate a sailor's salute, taking his praise.

He stamps his foot a little lighter and raises up two fingers before grunting, "Grog!"

"Then we might as well get drunk, eh? What d'you say, Cap'n? Shall I break out the good stuff for a little celebration? After all, we got us a new mast. And thanks to Kitty here, we need never worry about rats anymore!"
Feb 10, 2019 4:46 pm
"Aye, 'tis the devil's own luck what followed ye lads today! Drink up an' rest. We mend th' mast on the morrow. We'll have her dancin' the waves again!" Valrakas declares.

Grog makes a series of celebratory whoops and grunts as he goes bellow deck, pumping his arms up in down in excitement.
