Ian is, of course the first to speak up, "Sooo . . . Show of hands. Who is now a Sith warrior? Anybody? Evelynn? Pi? Definitely Evie." He turns his wide, teasing grin towards Alyx, the tiny Zabrak, "I think black leather would be'a good look fer you."
Chapter 1 Interlude: Post Crystal Meditation
Mar 9, 2019 3:16 am
After Master Selak releases them to their own devices, presumably to meditate on their visions, the students are free to mingle amongst themselves for the first time since breakfast. Their 'common area' aboard the shuttle is full of pieces of memorabilia of their time together. Successes and failures sit side by side, a holo of an impressive duel between Alyx and Zafe next to Ian's failed attempt at converting a paint gun into a paint sniper rifle; a interesting horn from a completely unknown animal that Zepharo found out in the rainforest is next to the spot on the wall where Kit's obviously mutation fueled growth is marked. Memories great and small surround them.

Evelynn chuckles quietly at Ian's words as she sits, thinking about the vision she had earlier. With a shake of her head she tilts her head towards the feistiest of her siblings and says quietly, "You got me pegged, Ian. My eyes would be glowing red, you know, if I had them. Still though, I'm curious if anyone else was shown more than one crystal? It will be... interesting to see how, or if, things change once we have constructed sabers of our own."

Alyx gives a tired glare to Ian, as if she doesn't actually even feel the irritation but glaring at him has become habit by now. "Shutting up would be a great look for you . . . too bad we'll never know because you're like a shark-fish: if you stopped talking you'd probably die."
She glances around at everyone else, then back at Evelynn. "You saw more than one?"

Taryn seems very affected by whatever he saw. His light hair is a bit matted with sweat and his face is still white as a sheet.
He grabs a bottle of water, plops down on the closest thing they could find to a comfortable couch on the shuttle, and sighs loudly.
Closing his eyes, he rubs his temples, "I don't know about Sith, but did anybody else find touching that crystal just really... painful?"

Wincing, Ian can't help but laugh himself even as he cringes slightly. "Wow. D'you even -need- a lightsaber? That cut deep." He shakes his head, sending his long hair swaying as he shrugs helplessly. "I will gladly take one'a yours, Evie, if'n yer passin' out spares." He chuckles quietly, grinning even broader as he glances furtively at the others.
Distracted from himself, Ian looks over to Taryn, "Uh, no? That's . . . No? Dude, seriously? What the hell?" Face scrunched up in confusion, Ian scratches the side of his head.

I thought that was weird too but I checked the book and it says Discipline? I checked EotE to see if it was a printing error but it says Discipline there too. Mar 10, 2019 1:54 am

Regardless of the skill used it would be whoever's skill with a difficulty awry by your deception (2 purple) I'll probably test it later once I get the baby down for the night...Or, I suppose, you could roll versus our Discipline or Perception or whatever... I think Discipline is right, now that I'm thinking about it. Social skills test.

Looking annoyed in the way that some might have learned means she's concerned but hiding it, Alyx sighs and goes to stand up and walk over to where Ian is leaning against the wall. "You didn't get a vision of a lightsaber crystal?" she asks him calmly, mimicking whatever body language he is showing, such as crossing the arms.

I'm treating this an "incoming deception check" because he's trying to lie to me, so good luck with that, heh. Evie's not easy to lie to, Ian has gotten to know over the years.Turning to Ian, the veil that hangs down over her face lifts as she arches an eyebrow at the prankster of the group. She knows he is lying, though she's unsure why. They have very few secrets among each other. Reaching out with her new senses she recoils from her own inner uncertainty before getting a read on him, but shrugs it off and says, "I'm sure that whatever you saw is something that you can handle. The Force knows us each better than we know ourselves and wouldn't place upon us a burden beyond our means. Have faith in the Force, Ian. 'There is no emotion, there is peace.'" She adds, quoting the first line of the Jedi Code that Master Selak had drilled into them all.
OOC:
She obviously saw through his lie, not sure what to do with the Triumph or Advantage, I'll leave those to you since you were the one lying, Cep. Did not use the dark pip for Sense, though.Last edited March 10, 2019 2:45 am

I think it's safe to say that Ian is nervous and worried about what he saw in the vision but beyond that would be confusion. That goes for anyone who succeeds. Regardless, Ian's actually an honest sort despite being a trickster so it was never meant to be about whether or not he could fool anyone. As far as a Triumphs and Advantages would go, I would say that Evelynn and Alyx would be able to tell that Ian wasn't worried for himself. I actually couldn't find anywhere in the book where it said you had to use Average Difficulty for opposed skill checks. Is there anywhere in the book where it talks about it? Maybe we need a thread to discuss rules stuff? Or does anyone know if there's a primer that's good somewhere?Last edited March 10, 2019 4:06 am

No, you're right. There's nothing saying that. But in the case of oppressed checks like this one the difficulty dice would be the opposing characters skill. So in the case of Deception, it's opposed bbt Discipline. So if Ian were trying to lie to Evelynn you would make your Deception check using the difficulty of Evelynn's Discipline. I assumed that, since you rolled two green die on your Deception check that that meant Ian has a Cunninh of 2 and no ranks in Deception. So flipping the roll around (Evie's Discipline versus Ian's Deception) should result on YYYPP for my pool...
Mar 10, 2019 7:12 am
The way I see it, this is an opposed roll, and he's the active player, so I think you should have just rolled RRR as part of the roll he had already made. And it would be up to Cep to interpret the results.

Rolling her eyes, Alyx leans further back against the wall, looking concerned but still tranquil. "Let's just be frank. The Force doesn't give us more than we can handle, but that doesn't mean never dying. It's the way of the Force for life to begin and end in a never-ending cycle. So if you had a vision about dying, well - everybody dies."
She glances over at Ian's worried eyes and her expression softens a bit. "But it doesn't make it an absolute reality. You received a warning. Understand yourself and your enemy, and you will always succeed." She looks over at Eveyln. "Thanks, Evie. He's just being stubborn, but he appreciates your support." She goes to kick Ian's ankle. "Don't you!"

I hadn't noticed this thread guysssssWhile it is clear that she is about to head to somewhere else, the purple twi'lek immediately stops when she realizes what the subject of the discussion is, having caught Evelynn speaking. Her curious stare soon turns into a frown, unconsciously crossing her arms and letting her hip softly sway to the left.
" So... What? Ian isn't even allowed to feel insecure anymore?" While Avi's tone is more playful than conflictive, she's still trying to make the implication sting. "Hah. With a family like ours, who needs the Dark Side, right guys?" She chuckles, lightly, as her frown dissolves into a hopeless smile. It doesn't take long for her to shake her head, rapidly squinting her eyes at Evelynn. "Oh well, I'm sure he's okay with it. Not like anyone expects our dear Evelynn to have any tact when it comes to the Force." She offers everyone a small smile, though it's more taunting than anything else.

Alyx smiles broadly when Avi comes in. "Avi! You need to help me cheer up these gloomy Gungans! I haven't seen so much doom and gloom since we found those baby butter-cats with injured wings." Just having Avi around always made Alyx's normally solemn visage light up: it was like she actually was a teenager instead of a stoic adult in a child's body.

"Ow! My fragile, human ankle!" Ian winces and lifts it up to rub it. While he's doing so he watches Avi come in and start taunting Evelynn. With an exasperated sigh and over-exaggerated slump he calls out, "Ladies, please, no more sexy race wars 'bout me. There is 'nough'a me ta go around whether you have eyes, hair or both!"
He snickers at Alyx, "Gloomy Gungans? Hold on, I think I need ta change my ringtone fer yer comm." He takes out his comm and starts tapping at the tiny controls, holding it up to the Zabrak, "Okay, one more time."

"Feeling insecure is, if you'll pardon the expression, only human. We all have moments of doubt. But has the Master not shown us that the Force has a plan. It takes in everything that happens and sometimes that plan gets adjusted," Evelynn says, gesturing to the gathered group and indicating their situation before continuing, "But with some faith, and a bit of guidance from the Force, all things are possible."
Sighing at Ian's comment, Evelynn simply shakes her head as she moves around towards what passes for a kitchen and starts making some food. She doesn't know about the others, but her ordeals of the day have left her famished. As she cooks she looks at the others to see who might want some as well.

Distracted from himself, Ian looks over to Taryn, "Uh, no? That's . . . No? Dude, seriously? What the hell?" Face scrunched up in confusion, Ian scratches the side of his head.He sits up and explains. "I could feel all these nice and warm crystals, but the one that called out to me was cold and harsh, like it was in pain or something... I defintely got a sense of suffering from it."
Looking towards Evelynn, he says "I could go for one of those purple fungus burgers, if there are any left."
