Rules Questions...

Anyone can feel free to post here with rules related questions. I'm fairly familiar with the system as both a player and a GM, as I'm sure others are as well, so we can use this thread to discuss things.

But remember, this is Arina's sandbox, so she obviously has the final say on things.

Not an actual question, but shouldn't we get a Destiny pool? Technically we couldn't spend Dark Side point even if we wanted to.

Yes, actually. I remember Arina saying something about not doing one for the intro stuff, I don't know if we've finished that bit or not, but hopefully she can tell us if/when to roll for our Destiny Pool.

I have a query: how does this system handle ambushes?

Because if I'm reading it right, if you're ambushed you just get to roll initiative on Vigilance instead of Cool, and that is that.

Which seems weird, because despite Taryn being a sneaky stealther, with his Cool gg and Vigilance ygg, he has a much better shot of acting first when he is ambushed himself than when he sneaks up on somebody and stabs them in the back.

I'm not sure if there's a surprise round or not. Like, do you roll Stealth vs. Perception and then if you make it you get a free attack on your target and -then- they make a Vigilance check or is there no point in sneaking up on someone?

Don't over-think it. If you're ambushed, and it's logical that the ambusher gets a free action, then the ambusher rolls an Action before initiative is rolled (with appropriate modifier(s)). Then initiative is rolled, with the appropriate sides using the appropriate Skill.

It's best to let the dice rolls emerge from the fiction. Follow the narrative to the dice. Don't put the mechanics before the narrative/don't try to use the mechanics to describe the narrative, use the narrative to describe the dice.
