Kaliya's Story

As you climb through the window, you trigger an alarm spell hidden on the other side.

The man at the desk immediately turns to look at you. The first thing you notice about his is the thick glasses he wears, making his eyes look huge. "Well, I say! Kalia, you've returned!"

There was a brief pause and then...

"Yeah... Sorry about the weird entrance... You know... Can meet be too careful."

The man nods vigorously. "So, I presume you've got it, then?" he asks, practically shaking with excitement. "You must show me at once! This is very likely the exact breakthrough we've been waiting for! Although- you've been gone quite a while, haven't you." He looks you over, and seems disconcerted by what he finds. "I say, what has happened to you?"

"I had to go looking for it in the Uthgardt Tribe Lands. It's... Complicated. How's progress on your end?"

The man huffs out a laugh. "Would that it were so simple," he says, eyeing the device with... longing? "The Order is quite displeased with me, you know. I haven't managed to have half as much success as you did, even though I've working away at it for much longer. Truthfully, I believe the project will be scrapped entirely soon enough. Even with you returned, I'm not sure there's enough time. And to think! We came so close... They would've written books about us, you know. They would've sung songs and raised statues. But now," he slumps where he stands, his eyes falling shut. "Now we will fade into obscurity, lost to the sands of time, crushed by the inevitable march of history..."
