You have all arrived recently in the Free City of Nahor, a locale not beholden to the Satrapies, their rules, and alliances (although culturally in the same wheelhouse). It is hot. Hotter than most of you are used to. The northwest side of town abuts the oasis, a small lake that is the lifeblood of the city. Caravans travelling across the Eye of Sephiroth replenish their supplies here, either after the harrowing journey across The Eye or immediately before setting out in that direction.Laura, the choice is yours. Whom will you seek out first?
OOC:
As Laura approaches each of the characters, I'm going to ask those players to sort of "DM" the conversation. Describe what Laura (and whomever she has gathered so far) sees when they find you. Does she need to roll persuasion? Set a (hopefully low) DC of what is the minimum it would take to convince you to come along with her. I'll step in as needed. I've written a small intro for each of your characters, why they're here and what they've been up to so far. Where they are likely to be when Laura comes to look for you. As the party gets larger, all of you present can (and should) aid and take part in the conversation.[ +- ] Laura
You look over the client's note again. Four names, 800 gold. 1. Cinaed Seighin, Human Wizard, 2. Barrot (No surname given), Human Soldier, 3. Laura Lumburg, Human Urban Bounty Hunter 4. Trissrie (no surname given, race unknown), Cleric of Din Napisti. Gather these four to Ilan Ketur at the Broken Spear inn and rent rooms. Tell the innkeep that you saw four hornets nests outside. He will alert us of your arrival and we will speak at two hours past midnight in the inn's private dining room. We can provide you no recompense if you do not successfully return with all the individuals listed here alive and in good health. You must convince them by any means necessary. The truth is that a great danger is coming and a wise-woman has divined that you four are each necessary to avert the disaster. The Satrap will certainly reward your efforts in this matter.
When you first came to town you tapped in to your bounty hunter guild's contacts in Nahor.
The wizard was easy enough to track down. He has rooms in the western side of town at the "Happy Camel", but barely spends any time there, feverishly researching something at the library of the Academy of Alchemical Calculation, a triangular building just down the road from the Happy Camel.
The soldier has apparently been picking up some coin escorting caravans through the desert and has just arrived with a group that has traveled across The Eye and is resting at an inn right outside the city gates "The Cold Cup."
The death cleric has drawn no small amount of attention. Some sort of sentient cow-elf has heard the calling of Din Napisti? The locales are enthralled by her and her stories of a far-off land across the desert and even beyond the Stonesplitter Mountains. She is on the east side of town, frequently exploring the temple district. She has taken up lodging in the shrine to Din Napisti.
You must decide now. Whom will you seek out first? What will you say to them? What if they refuse to come? You need all three to come, alive. The contact never said they had to come willingly, although its hard to imagine they'll put up too much of a fight with the promises of riches untold that this summons bears.

Mercenary work in Nahor, City of Glamour and Garbage (as many a mercenary refer to it) is almost limitless. The city retains a large standing army supplemented with mercenary forces to stave off the ever-hungry Satrapies from claiming her as a vassal. Things come from the desert and with your brothers at arms by your side you've collected commissions on several monstrous overgrown desert scrap that had wandered too close to the city for comfort. Anyway, when all those other things fail, there's always armed guard work, escorting pampered merchants and their ilk through the desert so they can buy precious metals and gems from the Stonesplitter clan, and whomever else lies beyond Sephiroth's eye. You've just arrived back in the city after one such escort mission, which included some people immigrating to the Satrapies in hopes of a better life. Among this group you noticed a strange cow-elf type individual who spoke a lot about Din Napisti. This seems strange come to think of it, as your impression had been that they worshiped totally different gods on the other side of the desert. Anyway, it'll be time to start looking for another contract soon, but for now you are holed up in a crappy inn outside the city walls, The Cold Cup.

You've arrived at Nahor, City of Transmutation and Alchemy two weeks ago. You've taken out rooms in the Happy Camel on the east side of town, but you've hardly slept. Porphy, a friend from your early days at the Academy sent you a troubling letter describing rabid animals coming from the Frostfinger Forest with horribly malformed bodies containing too many teeth or limbs, sometimes oozing venomous bile. After investigating and finding one such creature yourself, you retreated to the library here, in the Academy of Alchemical Calculation; the magic school of transmutation located in Nahor. You've started compiling some notes about what could be causing these horrendous transformations, but you are starting to feel like the answer might not be arcane in nature at all. Nevertheless, you carry on your research, just to be thorough, so that whatever course of action you do chart, you can be sure you've done your utmost to ensure it is based on a sound foundation of knowledge.

You've traveled very long and very far, but you are finally starting to get answers. The journey from your homeland of Niloka, a lush tropical rainforest, has taken you across fields, past strongholds, through the Stonesplitter mountains, across a blistering desert the locals call "The Eye of Sephiroth," and finally here to Nahor, City of Light. Your excitement had been growing since you reached the Stonesplitter mountains and people there had actually heard of Din Napisti, but arriving here in Nahor has been a totally different experience. Din Napisti is worshiped openly and a shrine honoring her is marked on the east side of town in the temple district. You met Tzall, the local grave cleric who oversees the cities undertakers. He was excited to meet you and like everyone else here, was interested to hear about your homeland and to learn what exactly a Firbolg is. You haven't seen another individual of your race since crossing the Stonesplitter mountains, so its no wonder that they are marveling at you. So far, everyone has been nothing but kind to you, just exceedingly prying and curious about your past life and why you've come here. Tzall has provided rooms for you shared with several acolytes of Din Napisti, but you've enjoyed exploring the local taverns, where everyone is eager to buy your lunch or pay for your drink, for the meager request of hearing just one more snippet about Niloka. Tzall has told you about Din Napisti's high temple in Din Shalem, a city several days journey to the north. Din Napisti has called you here for a reason, and maybe going to her high temple will help you find the next step of your quest.
