Slowly but surely, Harragh re-asserts his dominance on the grapple and continues to grab coins for his pouch. It's a slow, grinding process that only gets more dramatic when the thug finally manages to escape with just four coins remaining on the table. Well aware that if he grabs those, the game will be over and he'll have lost, he instead throws a punch at the half orc, trying to create some space so he can go for the dagger. Harragh intentionally lets the blow hit him, only so he can lure his opponent into a rushed lunge for the blade and trip his leg mid-move before triumphantly picking up the last few coins. The onlookers' tension finally bursts into cheers and Harragh is declared the winner, with all 43 coins to be evenly split between the winners. Devargo claps his hands in delight too and the room suddenly falls silent as the attention is focused back on him. "Thank you all, for providing tonight's entertainment. Now, if the losers and their friends would kindly f**k off out of here..."
Without another word, the thugs gather themselves and leave the room. While the door's open to let them out, Devargo motions to the enforcer on watch duty and as soon as the thugs are gone, four of the establishment's enforcers walk into the room. "Please enjoy the company of my trusted men while I take a moment to handle the paperwork" he says to you, before opening a door and disappearing behind it. You hear his footsteps on a ladder leading below, then moments later, the same footsteps up before he re-appears with a handful of papers.
"Not long ago, I learned of a pretty scandalous affair your beloved Ambassador Amprei was having with the wife of an important noble back in Cheliax. Apparently, the ambassador and this woman had been corresponding while Amprei was stationed here in Korvosa. When these rumors reached me, I decided to pay the man a visit with an offer for a mutually beneficial deal. I gave him a gift of several vials of shiver, with the proposition to open a line of trade with Cheliax. He refused and had me escorted from his home, but little did he know, I pickpocketed the man’s housekey as I left. Later that night, I returned there and stole several of the ambassador’s letters to his paramour, before returning the key as a final punchline."
Devargo sits back on his throne, fiddling with the two envelopes in his hand as he continues to talk. "I've been selling the letters back to the ambassador since. The fact that he hasn’t gone to the guard and is attempting to keep the re-acquisition of the letters as quiet as possible says plenty about my power, as well as how dangerous the contents would be to his career. First time he visited Eel's End, he was as uncomfortable as one can be, so I decided to teach him a lesson for not accepting my original offer: I only sold him one of the letters, providing the rest at the rate of one every few weeks, just to extend our little dance and savour the look on his face every time he's around. These are the last two he has yet to purchase. You've earned them."
