Just want to say, that I've been waiting for this campaign to drop for at least 2 years now, basically salivating. Really, really excited to give it a test drive.

Lmao Cave, I can live with that

Oh, also - in 1995, the conspiracy is cell-based. That means that you would have EXTREMELY limited contact with anyone in the conspiracy outside of your own cell of 4. It also means that you guys probably don't know anything about each other, including each other's real names. The cells are designated by letters of the alphabet. A Cell through C Cell contain various leadership elements of the conspiracy. The rest of the cells are operational. (This structure changes some point after 9/11 occurs, but for the purposes of the first operation, we're going to work with it.)

Just went to a random letter selector and you'll be K Cell. So the cherry on top for each of your agents is to come up with a code name for yourself beginning with the letter K. These will be the names that the four of you will refer to each other as throughout the op.

Examples: Agent KATRINA, Agent KADE, Agent KASHMIR, Agent KERRY, Agent KATO, Agent KIP, Agent KODY, Agent KOLYA, etc.

Just to keep everyone updated: I'm still getting all my notes and NPCs and whatnot together, a process that just got escalated to my number 1 GP priority, now that my other games are all starting to move on their own. Expect the first game post in the next day or two!
Jun 5, 2019 5:09 pm
No rush.
Jun 6, 2019 12:16 am

Gonna eat breakfast, then will post the start to the game thread. I put up a Briefing thread for you all in Operation ALICE, feel free to take a peek at that in the meantime.
Jun 8, 2019 2:26 pm
Alice? Alice? Who the ... is Alice?
Jun 8, 2019 2:30 pm

That kind of deniability will get you far in this line of work, Qralloq
Jun 10, 2019 1:57 pm
Sorry for the 48 hour long breakfast, lol. Weekends can be tough for me to post during. But Operation ALICE has begun. Threads here.

Jun 11, 2019 7:49 pm
I've also started a repository for clues/"handout information" here. I'll get one together for NPCs as we need it.
Jun 11, 2019 11:57 pm
Remind me... have we worked together before, or is this our first mission together?
Jun 12, 2019 12:38 am
i kinda assumed we all knew each other somewhat, being in the same cell.
Jun 12, 2019 2:14 am
Yeah, let’s assume you have at least one operation together as a group. I don’t think any of you have probably been involved in more than a couple operations - your agents dont have the SAN scores to reflect that and I don’t wanna go thru the kerfuffle of doing ‘damaged vet’ modifications (optional rules in the book) - but I think it’s easiest to proceed with the framework that this iteration of K Cell has seen action once, maybe twice before.
Jun 12, 2019 4:46 am
Oops, I kinda applied the 'damaged vet' mods, let me go back and reset my character sheet to remove them. (Much better for starting SAN properly)
Jun 12, 2019 12:49 pm
Yeah, I’d say don’t use the damaged stats, for now. Not that there’s anything *wrong* with them per se, but this is the start of a whole campaign and y’all will likely be leaking SAN sooner rather than later.
Jun 12, 2019 2:35 pm
Also added a little microfiction by Adam Scott Glancy (one of the game's original designers/writers, back when it was a CoC5E hack) here. "Alphonse's Axioms for Agents". These are not hard and fast rules that you must follow, obviously, but I posted it to give a little more insight into the mindset of a DG agent. And, yanno, the axioms aren't the worst advice on operational procedure, either.

Alphonse, for the record, is the never-seen, nearly mythical leader of A Cell, and the top dog of the conspiracy. Who he is, where he is, or if he even really exists at all are all unclear.
Jun 12, 2019 5:52 pm
Cave, you’re cracking me up in the discord rn
Jun 12, 2019 9:11 pm
what did i do this time :D
Jun 12, 2019 9:20 pm
GIPHY Gang, baybee
Jun 12, 2019 9:44 pm
hahaha oh XD it takes me moments to get caught up on the forums vs discord :P
Jun 12, 2019 10:35 pm
hahahaha this made me chuckle

16 and 30 almost contradict each other :D

Also almost contradictory XD
42. Never leave teammates behind where the authorities can find them.

43. Always report back to A-cell. Even if that means leaving your team to die.

I'm heading home for the 4th of July this afternoon. I'll probably still post updates (tho no promises), but at a reduced pace, through the weekend.

Leave a post and let me know if you're going to be affected by holiday plans beyond the 4th itself.
Jul 3, 2019 5:15 pm
I'm Canadian, so no. But happy July 4 to my fine American neighbours!
Jul 3, 2019 8:33 pm

Aug 9, 2019 8:06 pm
I know I've been dragging my feet on this - had my very final class last night, been zonked the past couple weeks getting thru the final push. This weekend I'll catch up on my sleep and my game plotting and we'll be back to yr regularly scheduled programming... as soon as I... take a quick nap...
Aug 13, 2019 3:26 pm
no big, these past 2 weeks for me have been swamped for some reason :,(
Oct 30, 2019 4:30 pm
Yo, Kirby - I was looking at your character sheet and wondering, what SpecOp unit were you in before you became a security contractor?
Oct 30, 2019 9:46 pm
I know the corps best so he would be from a U.S. Marine Corps MARSOC

Marine Raider Regiment (MRR), which consists of three Marine Raider Battalions:

Hi everyone,

I recently (September) changed roles at my job, which has resulted in significantly less time at my desk and therefore my computer. I should have expected the resulting effect on my ability to keep up with games, but for one reason or another, it has come as a surprise. The last couple of weeks have been especially crazy as I try and balance multiple responsibilities I had been able to set aside for the previous three years, and I've fallen behind on nearly all of my games -- both those I run and those I play in. In addition, I have a couple of games I've been developing that I very much want to run, and as a result, I need to make some hard choices as to my priorities on what I can continue to be involved with.

Unfortunately, this is a game that I'm going to have to drop. I'm not leaving GP entirely, and it has nothing to do with the game, the players, or the GM -- I have very much appreciated playing with all of you and I imagine I will see you in other games. Keep being the amazing, dedicated, creative forces you are. Hopefully some day I can go back to participating in double digits worth of games, but for the foreseeable future, I need to keep a tight rein on what I'm involved with. Best wishes to everyone!

See you around in the other games78rpmlife!

As for my part, I admit I have some difficulty keeping the investigation in my head, chiefly because of the PbP format for a conspiracy/horror/Cthulhu/DG type game. The incompleteness of knowledge at a real table game works because players are interacting with puzzlement, chipping in to solve clues and piece together the mystery. Here, I've found myself reviewing a couple of times the different threads and posts, and coupled with the necessary element of having private posts (which in principle should create suspense but often just adds to ignorance from me), and I confess the lag in gameplay, means I don't really know if and how I want to proceed.

I'd like to withdraw as well. Perhaps we can revisit this some other time. Thanks Santouche, I enjoyed all the fleshed out little details and love a good horror mystery. See everyone around in other GP games!
Dec 3, 2019 2:58 am
Yeah, I have to agree in a lot of ways - the way this particular campaign is structured (at least this first section) has run into problems I don't have with my other mystery/horror games, and I'm not quite sure how to reconcile them myself.

I think, with 2 players withdrawing, I'll shut the game down. You're all great players, I appreciate you giving it a shot, and I hope there's a chance to have you all in a game again in the future!
Dec 3, 2019 3:19 am
Thank you, Santouche, for introducing me to DG!
Dec 3, 2019 5:44 am
And do let me say thanks again. I do get what the scenario was trying to do, with its gradual build up to a potential reveal at the end. It just didn't translate as well to PbP. I think we figured early on it's an out of phase floor and inhabitants, but we just had to grind it out to its logical conclusion without enough of a horror payoff.
