So, "The Garage" is all OOC stuff, the regular forum will be for actual scenes.

The first order of business is picking the Trope you want to play. I'm not opposed to a little customization if you just have to have a particular Strength or feel a different Flaw fits your picture. I'm not sure how I feel about a fully customized Trope, but I'll hear the pitch if you really want to make it.

Otherwise, claim your Trope and/or ask your questions.

Once we are all present and accounted for I will set up a PC roster for connections and what not.

I'm thinking a boy scout, survivalist, live by the manual/guidebook type. , but If you're allowing powered characters I might change my mind.
May 30, 2019 11:28 pm
Oh right! I forgot I was going to explain that. I have a list of powers. They are not "world rending" powers that allow you to rip through reality or people's brains, but I will allow players that want them to have 1 power. I will not share the whole list, but will roll a d10 and give you a random power, no duplicates, if you want it.

One of the powers is the ability to understand animals. That is UNDERSTAND animals. Not talk to them or control them, but understand. So for example, you could know why your dog is barking. You will learn whether it is barking at a squirrel or a werewolf...useful information in the right circumstance.

The other powers are similar, useful not world breaking. No "mental blasts" available.

Like the core rules...which I don't have with me at this exact moment...you will have points to spend to use your powers. Use them up and lose access to the gifts. Rest well (in a bed vs. under an overpass in a rain storm) and some will come back. Max of 7 for everyone no matter what. No rolling to use them...they work if you expend the resource. If you don't claim a power you can start with 3 Adversity Points (I think that is what they are called...again...book is elsewhere at the moment but I think Adversity is the right word.)

Sounds good to me. the core book is pretty simple

Can you change where your dice fit on your Trope? Like, if you pick Loner Weirdo, but you want them to have a d20 in their Fight stat because he's on the school's varsity wrestling team, so can he swap the grit and fight scores? Or do you want to keep the trope scores where they are?
Jun 1, 2019 9:54 pm
Yes. In this case you are swapping two skills right next to each other...d20/d12. It makes sense to me as a slight change. Perhaps, before your character had a few more fights with bullies before joining the wrestling team as well?

Swapping a d20/d12 with a d6/d4 would be too much and break the flavor of the trope in my opinion. Within one step should be alright for most tropes though.

Ok, we have a fourth now. So anyone have anything solid yet, or questions I can answer?
Jun 3, 2019 11:25 pm
I'm going with a scout
Jun 3, 2019 11:58 pm
I'm going with the Loner Weirdo trope. I'll have my character posted for approval in a minute.
Jun 4, 2019 12:31 am
Sounds great.

I'll be going with bully, let me see if I can make the backstory not so cliche...
Jun 5, 2019 12:50 pm
How's the bully coming Ro? And your scout Librarian?

I'm liking Mazzie, she has some real potential.
Jun 5, 2019 1:29 pm
I just posted my scout a bit ago. He should be ready, just need to find an Avatar
Jun 5, 2019 2:17 pm
Very nice. Algie should be fun to see in action.

I have posted my character, though it could further added on. My idea is that the Bully is a hall monitor, and body guard of the popular kid(s) in the school, so he views his bullying as justiced punishment. BTW, I'm thinking of swapping my Charm(1d4) with my Flight(1d10) as he'll also be a verbal Bully. Is that ok?
Jun 6, 2019 3:42 am
I'd like to hear more about the bully before I approve the change you are looking at RoAires. Flight is about being able to get away when you need to. Not just physically but you could also roll Flight if you are talking your way out of trouble so that you can run away. Charm has a similar function but isn't about getting away, but getting what you want. It's subtle but it has some implications. If we let the switch happen, it makes your Bully more of a "mean girl" bully vs. a kick'em while they're down type. Is that Ok with you?
Jun 6, 2019 10:13 am
I forgot to note I flipped fight and flight on Algie, as he thinks hes tough from all the outdoors things he does. they are in the same bracket, so I thought that was OK, if not, I will flip them back
Jun 6, 2019 10:19 am
Yeah sure. It'll mean that the Bully will try to get in fights he know will win, or convince others to let him go/have his way.

A further description is that Hans(the Bully) will try to get on the good side of authorities or high social standing people. He is decent looking, and fit with his practice in sports, but a recent accident causes him to not move well. He'll use hurtful words first on his targets, but if he feels that's not enough, he'll go physical. (He is a douchbag, and I can understand if you want to give karmic justice, but just don't go overboard.)

But to get him to willingly work with the group, I will have him to also care more if his neighbourhood is being threatened from some wierd danger. He'll put aside grudges if it means that they'll get things back to normal. (But if this still not convenient enough, then I might make some changes)

OK...that sounds good. We can work it out in the next stage.
Jun 8, 2019 5:48 pm
Btw, I won't be playing him too harshly. So don't worry as he won't become irl offensive.

It's been a week. Did this game run out of steam?

@foolsmask, is this still on? If so, let me know if there is anything else I should add to my char sheet.
