Yoshi replies calmly "I too wish the wind blows that way. Until then." he bows respectfully to the ronin. He then turns to Aki intrigued "you believe this was all for the mantis?"

Aki lowers her voice, hoping her initial accusation wasn't heard by too many people already. She tries to speak in a way that only includes Yoshi, Kashita and Hitoshi. "I am certain these ronin did not randomly stumble in here. They were paid by someone to cause trouble. And they focused a lot on Hitoshi. That in addition to the dubious things going on with Hitoshi's ratings makes me think there is some conspiracy going on." She pauses for a second, then adds: "And don't forget our encounter the night before the tournament."

Yoshi looks at Aki and considers her words "yes, it seems like many of the elements are spinning around the strange mantis..." he then pauses to add, as a forewarning "But this could have not been what our... friend mentioned... Which means that, something else may be happening soon..."

Hitoshi frowns at the implication "Perhaps but it didn't seem like they were just here for me, they were harassing everyone weren't they? If someone does not want me to compete they could have simply arranged for those honor-less dogs to waylay me before I arrived, I was not travelling in secret."

"If it was their goal to stop you from participating, sure. However, I believe whoever is behind this wants you to participate - and to fail in front of everyone. I don't know yet why but it makes sense with everything that has happened. Maybe they want to embarrass your clan. Do you know who would have the most to gain from this?"

Kashita looks serene, a calmness descending on her from the row. "There are secrets yet hidden. Destiny has not yet played it's card." She faces the door and waits.

Yoshi considers for a moment. "Indeed... On one hand, it did not seem to be a target attack. On the other hand, it was clearly intentional." I have a quick look around to check if anyone needs helps and then to the owner "I apologise for the disturbance"

The 'owner' turns to respond to Yoshi but before they do the sound of running feet can be heard approaching. Several Heimin, armed with Jitte, enter into the room and look around for a moment. As they enter a tall, stern looking, female Crane Bushi enters with them and turns to who you assume is one of the more senior Heimin "Join the others to see the Ronin do not cause any more trouble". The Heimin bows and begins to order the rest out of the room but it is obvious the bushi has already put them from here mind. Her eyes settle onto Kashita "Unicorn-kun, can you tell me what occurred here?" she speaks quickly but you read it as being more a desire to be direct than a lack of respect.

OOC:

Just to clarify the -Kun suffix is used by persons of senior status in addressing or referring to those of junior status, something you would all be used to.

Kashita bows appropriately for the difference in their stations. "Crane-san. It was confusing, but I will try. The ronin came in and began to berate the other custom-guests for no reason that we could discern. In particular, they nakedly insulted Hitoshi-san, and then each of us. Propriety did not allow these insults to go unchallenged. After Mirumoto-san leapt to confront them, the ronin quickly engaged the rest of us with their fists. Unfortunately for them, they were unwashed craven fools, and mere children were able to beat them away."

The bushi nods at Kashita's explanation and casts her eyes across the other competitors, showing no particular disdain or favor for anyone present before turning back to the Unicorn. "Yes, I suspect they were just looking to cause trouble like most of their kind. I will leave some of my men here to see them off if they return, you should all enjoy what is left of your evening." and with another nod she turns and walks out the door.

Aki turns to Hitoshi and speaks to him in a quiet voice, trying not to let anyone else hear: "I'm worried someone might try to harm you again tonight. You don't have another place where you can spend the night beside the room you got, correct? I would be willing to switch rooms so that if someone attempts something this night, they would not easily be able to find you."

Hitoshi stiffens slightly before relaxing a tad "Aki-san, whilst I appreciate your concern I would not feel comfortable placing you in harms way in my stead. I will sleep in my room as I planned and if someone comes then Fortunes be willing I will prevail"

Okay, so I'm not sure how magic in this game works. From what I understood, you're basically asking the spirits for favors right? Would it be possible for me to ask a spirit to watch over Hitoshi during the night and alert me if something's happening?
And how would that work if it works?
