Oakfall realm


Faerûn is an extremely wide area, and it will be useful to have the precise location of the Oakfall realm.
So you can find it if you leave Baldur's Gate to the east, just before your reach The Dragonmere (known here as The Sea of Veires). What is known in the Sword Coast as the Sunset Mountains is called here the Spinecord Mountain Range, and the young but great city of Vikaastea is located just outside the Marsh of Tun that they are actively trying to "clean".

Here's a map you could find on the Sword Coast, for reference : its information about this region is clearly outdated, though.

Vikaastea


The great city of Vikaastea appeared 78 years ago when Sergey the Schemer focused his armies and resources to acquire and secure a land from a Lizardfolk tribe known as Irhtos Sauriv. This land, located between two major lakes is very strategic as it the only easy way to get in or out of what they called The Great Quagmire, a mix of marches and swamps where ancient and deadly things lurk...
Sergey's elder boy died on the battlefield before his twenties but his second born, Serrok came back to the new founded city where he studied the arts of War and Ruling. He quickly became the king's adviser, then got the throne as his father got too old to reign. He secured most the the Outer Regions during the Rallying Years, and now focuses most of his power against the Inner Lands. But the task proved to be way harder to achieve than his most pessimistic estimates, with resentful reptilian tribes and dreadful decaying things, and its now been a decade since the Cleansing Wars started...

The Oak Shield

In short
They are responsible for two vital things: maintaining peace in the realm, and represent the Law.
Entering in the Shield is no easy task, as you have to go through a very long training to forge both you arm and you mind to one very specific task: ensure the stability of the Realm.
They work with the clerics to help those in need, control what business are run, collect taxes, arrest lawbreakers and help setting seasonal feasts up. Yes, that too.
