Interest Check: Star Wars 5e

Hey everyone, I recently discovered a ruleset for running Star Wars in D&D 5e!

I'm considering running a one-shot and seeing how it goes. If it goes well I might expand it into a running campaign.

I'm open to suggestions for story concepts and time period.

Argh. I keep telling myself to resist more games, but this is awfully hard to pass up. I'd love to see how it works, and I've wanted to get in a Star Wars game of some sort for a while.

Interested! I'm good for any timeline although I find being in the Imperial/Rebel era has lots of limitations on force-use. I'm curious about playing in the proper Expanded universe, post Empire, in the book continuity. Jaina/Jacen Solo, new Jedi academi, new republic etc. Thinking maybe as a Rodian operative.

Very curious to see what they've done with vehicle/starship operation and tech crafting.

I...might be interested. I'm a bigger fan of the Clone-War era, and have come to terms with the fact I don't actually care about most of the Star wars lore, so if I did so it would likely be as someone without a grasp on Jedi philosophy. Still, could be fun.

I was thinking that if we go post Return of the Jedi, I would definitely run with the EU "Legends" timeline rather than the new movies. Much more interesting stories in my opinion.

As for as tech crating, there are two types of "casters" in this game "forcecasters" who use the force and 'techcasters" that use technology to preform attacks and other effects. Both force powers and tech powers work like spells in D&D.

How were you thinking of handling force sensitives?

That will depend heavily on which time period we decide to run with. I'm personally leaning towards a time period in which Jedi are common. That would include: KOTOR, Clone Wars, or Expanded Universe (post Return of the Jedi)

Awesome. I have already constructed a character. (A Trandoshan Bounty Hunter (Fighter)) Let me know if you want players to build a detailed background since this is only a one shot for now.

Taking a peak at the classes a jawa engineer looks pretty nifty.

Totally up to you how in depth you guys want to go with character backgrounds. It's not required, but if you would like to give your character a little more backstory, then by all means go for it.

As far as story concept goes, how about setting it during the expanded universe (new galactic republic) and have us either doing diplomatic protection to senators etc. on diplomatic missions to get planets to join/rejoin the galactic republic....or have us do reconnaissance on entirely new planets as an exploration team equipped experts in xeno-biology, diplomacy, espionage, warfare, the force. Basically a science team, with a bit of muscle and a few force sensitives to back it up, as the Jedi academy is also looking to rebuild and train.

I am absolutely blown away by the interest in this game and I really do not want to leave any of you out. Some I'm going to do something crazy...

I've upped the player cap to 12, so anyone who has posted on this thread is now in. And that's it, I'm not going any higher! I'm thinking if all 12 player are active, I will split you guys up into two parties of 6.

We have already started a thread to submit character concepts. The game will be set in the Expanded Universe (the Legends books) and will take place during the events of the Legacy of the Force Series (40 years after the original Star Wars).

Hmm, interesting... I wanted to make a "through the looking glass" type of game for Star Wars for about a month or so and was looking for a nice system to do it in. This might just fit the bill.
