Disaster in the Lower City

I am also doing development for my first post, as well as dealing with my first event. I think that I'll split the province down the middle, with Vax Kaggath remaining in the western portion.

Request for developing original province. Mentioned at the end of second post. Not sure it has to go on the map. If so, make about 10% into a new province

Temperate Forest. Taiga's not going to be below 30N except for the far east corner.

Not entirely sure how war works, but if possible, I'll develop 3 more times in the north region :DWeek 2
Oct 4, 2019 4:59 pm
There have been some questions as to how various pieces fit together, and there's been some feedback that have prompted a couple additions, so I'm going to run the Ashen Empire through its paces for a week. Let me know if this helps, and if so, I'll do until questions are all answered.

The Ashen Empire
23 Provinces
2 Cities
The capital, Rhakhra produces Gems, Stone, and Chemicals.
The second city, Tezhra, produces Fish and Livestock, for food. (THIS IS A RULES UPDATE. We'll have way too many workforces later on without a change, so non-capital cities will give you two resources. This change is already made in the document.)

Since the empire has 23 provinces, that gives it 23 workforces. Of those, 5 will be used to produce the available resources. Another will be used to make Enchantments out of the gems, stones, and chemicals, leaving 17. (It really doesn't have anything to do with these, and won't for a while, but that's how it works.)

The Empire also has 4 military from it's cities. It's going to take 11 workforces and conscript them into military, to give it 15 military, 6 workforce. Those 6 remaining workforces will be used to create 3 culture (this is also an update, based on feedback).

Now, onto unrest:
It's got more than a third of its workforces in the military. It can have a max of 7, it has 11. That's 4 unrest.
It has 11 undeveloped provinces, each gives 1 unrest.
That's a total of 15 Unrest. 3 will be offset by the culture, leaving 12. Since 12 is more than it's number of undeveloped provinces (11), one of those undeveloped provinces (usually the one furthest away from the capital) will revolt. That lowers the unrest by 7 (this is a clarification).

We're going to send military in to quell the revolt. The revolting province is 3 away from the capital, so we have to send 4. Might as well send five, because the other military is going to march into two provinces 4 away from its capital (it needs 5 each).

So the Ashen Empire is going to get two new provinces this week, but next week, the Unrest is going to be even higher.

I'll just post here formally that I have done my actions of 3 expansions. I'll also say that my workforces collected 1 unit each of crops(food), Wood and Stone. week3: attack and annex northvale, one development on northvale from the Guild's booming investments, if possible (horizontal split a south of it, starting more or less where it bordered South cove). One final attempt to get Willowvale, but failed.

Too many changes happening, so I'll take the 4 culture and turn it into wealth.

Once you hit 10 provinces, you need a food each week, or you get unrest. It will feed up to 20, but nothing carries over week to week except for unrest and wealth.

As far as resources go, this is just another city for you, not a capital, so you get 2 new resources and 1 military.

Also, can someone verify that the rules are back up now?

Yep! I tied in the acquiring of the city (after 10 provinces) as part of my story. (I like in-game explanations for mechanical rules features.) To be clearer I should've re-ordered the two posts, but I thought you had changed your rules to adding a city after every 8th province.

Ah no, each province can be developed into 8 smaller ones, but the city requirements are still one for every 10 provinces.
Oct 15, 2019 2:17 pm
so, you get a city if one province is at 8 and another at 2?
Oct 15, 2019 3:55 pm
Roger that!

Each province can be divided into 8 smaller ones. (It's nicest to divide so on the map, half, quarter, then eighth.)

1 city every 10 provinces (wherever those provinces are).

Falconloft says:
Is it supposed to be Elven or Eleven?
OOC:
ahah, that is getting confusing. Let's say that the Eleven marches was/is a region under the control of Covenant's Gate. The elves were kind of autonomous from the Margrave's rules. When they took over Covenant's Gate, they formed a Confederacy which has grown to include the Eleven Marches, Convenant’s Gate, Northvale, Willowvale, Foundation and Ashenport. Since the Covenant is gone, the capital of this confederacy is was renamed Elven Gate, to put the emphasis on the elven origin of the Confederacy (and the Guardian's imperial ambitions), the new age and not the old age

- The Overseer oversees... the development of the 2 Foundation provinces (Foudation and Soutport) as the Appraise develops industry in Willodvale. (3 developments)
- The new navel industry in Willowvale allows for expansion north, establishing a Confederacy settlement on the other side of the sea. (1 expansion)
- A noble is pissed and he rescues the Mouth of the Land
- 5 culture produced. Convert 2 to wealth and use the other 2 on Unilith and the Free Cities to improve relationships and 1 to destabilise (spy) Cloudspire due to their border closure.

- All the rebelling parties joined under the banner of the Lady of the Eleven as she took back Elven's Gate (develop that province to the maximum 8)

-Sent some diplomats to get the Rivellesk triton's support

I don't personally mind either way if its 1 week or 2 weeks. But maybe if we have 2 weeks, we could slow the pace for new players to join?

True. Let's see if we get any interest, and then we can ask them.

Was this considered as a new nation? How will the new nation figure into the war? (I'd an increased limit of PCs per player to submit it)

The Desert Nation of Shady Sands

Yes, i added it but didn't get to post a map with it on it.

sounds good. If you want me to post as a different nation, can you change the limit on PCs per player? :D

quick question: reconquering our provinces counts as development?

week 10:

Marches
So, I'll unify the north by using the crisis as an excuse to liberate Terminus. Whatever manpower can be spared moved south, but something happened when crossing the sea and the fleet sunk. Gain two new provinces and a city

The defence of the Old Lands was a bit worse. Elven gate is liberated but can't develop because it's at its max 10 already. Foundation is in a stalemate and will develop once. Southport is almost overrun.

Sands
just a simple development as more people get into the ruins.

Yes, they count against your week's posts.

Before I push out the new map for this week, I need to get clarification on where Shady Sands is supposed to be. In the meantime, you can go ahead and post for this week.

Sorry for missing the update. I was in an accident and I've been dealing with that. It's easy to make a post here and there, less easy to edit maps.
Dec 19, 2019 7:51 pm
btw, I did increase the character limit to 2 so you can submit it now.

Map is updated. This week will end on the 21st IF everyone has time to post. Since the holidays are here though, if everyone's not done with all the posts they want to make for this cycle, we'll extend to the 28th.
Dec 20, 2019 12:32 pm
I prefer for it to extend to the 28th.
Dec 20, 2019 12:32 pm
same here... it's going to be tough this week. even the 28th may be difficult :(

week 11

liberate all lands and develop Foundation, SouthPort and Northport.

If I got this right, with no need for actually using armies this time, I'll make 19 culture and I'll use it all on Rivellesk's diplomacy.
I'll split it between two provinces (one with 9 and another with 10). I'm guessing I'm not getting anything :)
