While we will retain the shared Character Creation thread for discussing the characters a a group, these individual threads are meant serve as a place to talk about character development as the story progresses. I have guided Zhang Wei before and they owe me for it.

Zhuang Rong Hua does not understand life in the wild, so I will teach them. I also hope that she can teach me to survive in urban environments.

I know Xian Feng is possessed by a vengeful spirit. I am investigating her to see about the supernatural threat that I found to be endangering nature itself.

Backstory: Kuroi Mimi is born to a community of druid-like elves in the forests of Yatpun. She does not carry the discipline to be a druid, and so she takes up being a forest ranger instead. She enjoys her youth racing through the forest with her fox companion named Orengi. One day, she hears of the elders talking of an evil spirit awakening one day to destroy nature itself. She wishes to save her beloved home, and offers to help out. The elders instruct her to be their spy/investigator/ambassador by going to Qing'lai to find out of any activities that the evil spirit may have done in the country. And so she travels there, and heard rumours of someone who is possessed by an evil spirit. Eventually, she finds her after searching for weeks, and will join the group.

Yes, custom bonds are great! We can probably discard the one with Rong Hua because we don't expect that character to be in the story much from this point forward.

It will help us integrate you into the story if you are a member of the Explorer's Guild, but to give you more freedom let's say you are not directly in the Guildmaster's employ like Sungyeol and Dae-won.

You probably met Zhang Wei first, when he was wandering in the wilderness alone and hadn't yet met the others, and you formed your bond then. Now, your paths cross again for the first time.

I assume your investigation of Xian Feng is a secret?

Well Wu Meng is likely to be 'a friend of nature', in the sense that his life and training has been on mountains and forests, so his philosophy repsects nature as qi, from which comes life and energy.

I think, as the DM says we need to find one or two more links to connect a Yatpun person to Qing'lai.

I'm inclined to disagree, actually. Being from so far away, Mimi would have few connections here. Unless she has been with the group for a long time, which we've established is not the case. Unless you want to change that?

For me the narrative put forth so far (a previous meeting with Wei, a rumor that leads her to Feng) already makes sense. But yeah, I'm open to ideas. Let's talk it out. Ultimately, it's RoAries' call.

Mimi:
1. How did you and Orengi meet? Did you raise him/her as a cub? Did s/he come to you in the wilderness? Is she an actual fox, or a spirit of some sort? Describe this supernatural bond you share with your companion. In what way is it beautiful and strange?

2. How did you come to Qing'lai from Yatpun? Was it on the back of a great kaiju, or a boat that never should have made it? Or some other way? What dangers did you have to overcome along the way? Did you embark on this impossible journey alone?

1) I was doing a round of hunting when I met Orengi. I spotted him watching me timidly from behind the trees. Out of fascination, I offered him some meat I have on me to show that I'm friendly, and we soon became friends. I named him Orengi, for his orange fur. When we got back, the elders told me that the fox I have befriended is a nature spirit, and that we are bonded for life. I believed them, for not only are they actual druids, but me and Orengi are able to communicate simple thoughts to one another.

2) The druid elders told me that the journey across the Sea of Storms will be dangerous, but I'll will make it as long as I trust the wild spirits that guide me. I first got on a small self-made wooden raft and paddled in the general direction of Qing'lai, while feeling the blowing wind for storms. Then, a baby kaiju came up not far off from me, and I asked Orengi if he could somehow speak to it. After what seemed like a staring contest, I felt that the kaiju offered to transport me and my companion on it's back as it swims over. I climbed on, and together we traveled. Halfway over, a storm starts to appear in front of us, but the baby kaiju manage to swim to a nearby adult kaiju, and I climbed onto the new transport and took shelter from the storm within the cave-live structure on it's hard back. Once the storm subsides, the adult kaiju is begining to sink back into the depths, but I was able to catch sight of the shoreline, and swam my way over as fast as possible alongside my fox friend.

Ah, so Rong Hua is not with us anymore? Okay, I'll go with having met Zhang Wei first and offered to teach him how to survive in the wild like hunting and making campfires. In exchange, he gets to share with me what I would find as an exotic backstory and goal. We soon had to part ways due to my need to carry on investigating the forest. We eventually found each other again when he is with the group as I was looking to find Xian Feng. And sure, I'll keep the true nature of my investigation a secret, but it would be obvious that I'm looking for her.

I like that connection, I'll leave it to Jabes whether Feng ever gets any hints about Kuroi from their ghost.
