You really don't need to START with food, but one food feeds 20 provinces, so you will need a food before you reach that point or you'll have unrest.

btw, just to make sure, it is the Eleven Marches, yes, as in 11. I only ask since you have elves, want to make sure it wasn't a typo.

ahah, it was 11 yes, but it was also based on the random finding that in german 11 is elf ;)

is art a raw resource? Even thought that +1 culture is very attractive, I'd think art to be a bit more refined :D
Last edited September 18, 2019 8:49 am

It is a basic resource. Art is valuable, but it tends to be small amounts of it in comparison to everything else. Because of that, even though it is probably taking multiple pieces (paint, canvas, etc), those pieces are so small that one workforce could legitimately be split into several subgroups to make the components for art.
Sep 18, 2019 2:02 pm
interesting addition to the resources ...
so, making Jewelry for +1 wealth and +1 culture needs 1 gemstone and 1 precious metal. That will be 3 workforces.
But, if I have art and precious metals, that would be 2 workforces to get +1 culture and +1 wealth, as per their uses.
This means that I can save 1 workforce to get the same effects. Probably this will need to be balanced ;)

CESN sent a note to Falconloft
I also noticed Cloth is gone from the basic resources and is not manufactured, but is a required component.

Also, population isn't a mechanical stat. It's just there to give you an idea of how big you are because of the type of land you're on.
Sep 18, 2019 8:42 pm
Ok 👍 that makes sense. I was going to ask what happened when you conquered another realm’s capital, if you chose their resources or it was random, but I think your trade post answered that :) by the way, we get +1 workforce from development or expansion, right?
Sep 19, 2019 12:51 pm
I see some changes on the resources again... so the only way to increase wealth now is with Currency, trading or culture? I'll keep the precious resources then :D
also, I made some changes to the factbook, including adding an hierarchy

I'm still going through and making changes based on feedback, mostly clarification things. However, art does produce culture, and culture produces wealth, so art is still viable for you.

nice, that will make things a bit easier to plan, but it may lead to some minor "historical inaccuracies". I'll probably take that into account :D

So that's the plan for the week on the previous post. Again, if you spot anything that is not right, just let me know. Another quick question, I noticed an old message saying we can post up to 5 times per week and get benefits from it. This may have been changed so: is the maximun number of "developments" 3 or 5 per week?

Hi Falcon.. I went full invasion on the foundation (I'll write it as a big run for the spoils of war between Cloudspire and the Marches: since one of them would take over those provinces). I won 4 out of 5 provinces, but I should only develop 3 times. I was thinking about having a peace deal splitting those lands in a way that doesn't look too unfair, but balances the massiveness of Cloudspire.

What's your idea on this?

Your idea for the division might work, but I think I do need to look at combat rules a bit closer. I was really not intending to have land change hands quite that fast. I'll post more on this soon.
Oct 16, 2019 2:18 pm
Actually, no, it's already in the rules. Here's what is supposed to happen:

Attacking & Defending
Attacking with your military is simple. Indicate how much of your military is going to attack, and then roll 1d6 for each military. Then, roll 1d6 for each defending military. Compare the highest result for each side.
- If the defender's result is higher, the military you spent are gone for the week. They can no longer attack or defend.
- If both results tie, you stalemate, so no territory changes hands. Neither the attacking nor defending military can attack or defend for the rest of the week.
- If the attacker's result is higher, The province changes hands. The attacking military is now defending in that province. It must remain there until you develop that province.

So essentially, here's what's supposed to happen. You decide where your armies are going to attack. Say there's two provinces you want, and there's 8 armies. You can send 4 to one and 4 to the other or you can send 2 and 6, or you could just send them all to one and ignore the other.

If you win, those armies are in that province until you develop it. They're not usable again.

Now, I don't think there's any need to change your posts. Your armies can just be spread thin. But that means next week, you'll need to develop all those at least once if you want your armies back.
Oct 16, 2019 2:23 pm
Falconloft says:

- If the attacker's result is higher, The province changes hands. The attacking military is now defending in that province. It must remain there until you develop that province.
That was my question abut full scale invasion last week! I missed it :(
That probably means we need to keep track of where the armies are from now on I guess.

The Eleven Marches
- Ashenport's name has apparently angered many, both in your land and beyond, and there is pressure on multiple fronts to rename it.
-> The druids are angry because it is sacrilegious? The nobles from Foundation are angry because is is treasonous to the old emperor?
- The scion of a major house is killed when a bomb being smuggled through the Marches detonates prematurely. Or did it?
-> Only the master of guilds is available as a noble to kill... Introduce someone else? Maybe kill the appraiser as the guild are also plotting within the plot.

Eleven Marches
- Your attacks on Terminus have resulted in condemnation from Cloudspire, although Unilith remains silent. Cloudspire is now allied with Terminus, and has stated they will attack if Terminus is attacked again.
- You catch up with the thieves who stole the artifact. They do not have it anymore, and refuse to speak (or perhaps they actually can't) of who hired them, but they have correspondence in a strange dwarven writing that doesn't follow normal dwarven syntax.

New nation: above 30S - left of 60E where the imperial road waves. Original Elven lands but Sand Elves are rare due to the migration west. The land is now ruled by warring desert tribes of shapeshifting races (maybe related to the hengeyokai)

A quick question. If Valseria was to be peacefully annexed into the Confederacy (eventually), how could that work? I could spend as many development as their provinces (so many skip a week without benefits) you wage a "fake war" and roll to see which provinces I can "conquer" until I have conquered then all?
Dec 2, 2019 9:57 pm
To peacefully annex someone, you're basically going to want to pump culture into them until their influence goes away (making all their provinces secede, basically) and then just move in military like normal for an unoccupied area.

CRISIS: The Duergar War
In the Shrouded Sun of 78 PI, the duergar rose from their caverns and tunnels to fight the surface world. Mining and invasions from many sources had long been a source of contention for the underdwellers, and with a new leader, the Waking King, leading them, they finally decided to strike back at the soft surface dwellers.

The first series of attacks in this war were not recognized as such, for they used emissaries and mercenaries to do their bidding. But once they had stripped the surface kingdoms of their most powerful artifacts, they rose from the caves and tunnels along the Imperial Highway and struck at the capitals of Terminus, Malgeri, New Zaangoria, Valthiria, Cloudspire, The Marches, and Unilth.

At the same time as they struck from underneath, their massive stone dragon, the size of a small village, rained destruction of fire and molten stone from the sky.
INVADED: Elven's Gate, Southport, Foundation
OPPORTUNITIES: Terminus and Cloudspire liberation!

EVENT:
The armies of the nations above the stone fought back, to limited success. We see the folly of the sun-dwellers however. In the north, the attack on Terminus let us run over the remnants of that shattered nation, and Malgeri's retreat into their city let us have the run of their outer lands as well. Now though, we shall launch our attack on the refugees of those battles. They have fled to a place of unknowing import, and there is where our final battle will be.

The duergar have achieved something that they wanted, although what it is is not yet clear. They're not withdrawing yet, but they're not raiding anymore, so it will take less posts to clear them away.
- It will take two posts to clear them from the Marches' southern land, and one for the northern. However, they have launched the stone colossus against you. It stands two-hundred feet tall, and it walks over the land, crushing everything underfoot. The colossus takes two posts to defeat.
- The duergar are scouting out the land around Shady Sands, and some fear it will be their next target.
