Out of Character

I'll wait till morning then move us to the next day. One thing to consider is where you are staying in Wati. I'm tempted to minimize the RP on that until we complete the first Tomb. That is, you are carrying everything you have and don't have a dedicated room waiting for you.

Sounds good

Just an FYI, the map image isn’t showing up on my phone, just a blank image with the Dropbox link in text at the top.
Works fine on my android phone (Chrome) and my windows laptop (Firefox)

Anyone else?

My desktop with Microsoft edge browser works fine.

I'm uncertain what I want to do with combat maps. I think I'll play around with Google Slides, and I'll try and build appropriate icons for each of you.

For the map, you can probably guess that I added a layer over top and filled it brown so I can erase the brown on that top layer as we go, revealing more map, and save a new version. As the size of the overall map isn't changing, I'm hoping I can just update the background on the slide to reveal more map, and your icons should retain their positions through such updates.

I'll only be able to update the map when I have my laptop, i.e., at home in the evenings and on the weekends.

The AP has a fair number of dungeons so hopefully we can work out the kinks early.

I can see the map ok on my laptop.

LOL check.... Sasha had to just about empty her contents of her small backpack into a small sack to put the 4 pitons and 2 Alchemist fires into her backpack. And then attach the small sack to her backpack. Her small backpack is full. She is still moving fine, but has only a partial small sack and empty small sack to carry more. Life of a small person.

Haha, that's a great visual. Not that I find small people funny. That would be wrong.

1/4 carry capacity on backpack and belt pouch isn't bad till you put stuff in them that isn't small. Those 2# of pitons may soon find their way out of the backpack. So much fun carrying the decimal three places for some of the gear in weight. Sample: 0.125# on some items.

Ninja_Dano is going to withdraw from this game, citing life pressures on his time.

Hey guys, I need to bow out of this one. Thanks for having me.

Sorry for the long delay, I was waiting for Dramasailor, who indicated that they were going to resume posting late last week. This weekend was a total nerd fest, so I had ironically little time for GP.

Friday night was a murder mystery (Terror in Transylvania) hosted by our local public library. I played Dr. Jekyll and had killed a lot of villagers (as Mr. Hyde), and was desperate not to get blamed.

Saturday my wife and I played Pathfinder (we're up to book 4 of 6 of The Mummy's Mask AP) all day with our best friends. Then Saturday evening, we played Deadlands with our long term gaming troupe until the wee hours.

Sunday I went to a convention (RPG Alliance) and gamed all day, again. I played Conan 2d20 for 4.5 hours in the morning/afternoon, then Call of Cthulhu for 4.5 hours in the afternoon/evening. Both were great games to be in.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled short dungeon crawl.

good let your geek flag fly

Sorry about the disappearance all, been a stupid few weeks and I apologize for the delay I caused. I SHOULD be back now, provided I don't end more of my days screaming into the emptiness of the End on Minecraft because of morons at work. Heh.
Oct 22, 2019 1:54 pm
Glad to have you back!
Nov 4, 2019 4:23 pm
Hello all, sorry for the short notice on this. However, due to some real world stress and busy-ness, I need to take a step back for a few weeks to focus on that. I miss and have much love for all of you, so I will be back. ;)

As I posted in Absences, I'll try to catch up tomorrow night, but for sure move us along oby Sunday.

have a good trip :)

That's a lot of drama from Jabari given he still had 1 hit point, haha.

But seriously, when recording your hit points, leave the total box on your character sheet at your maximum. Many people use the notes section to keep a running total of hit point and ability damage.

Those are some incredibly inopportune attacks of opportunity, gang.

Sasha elected not to take her AOO shot.

I am going to dial down my game activities, so I'll be leaving this game. I wish the rest of you a good time

A dungeon crawl is a particular challenge in PBP. It is slow and somewhat less conducive to actual roleplay. I've played up to nearly the end of the fourth book so far IRL and it's mostly this style of play.

There are opportunities for RP with NPCs, some of which are fairly important, but 90%+ of the adventures are exploring and combat.

There was a bit of discussion about this on the GP Discord. Would anyone be opposed to some of the following ground rules for making the dungeon crawl experience move a little more swiftly?

1. Enforce a time limit on deciding which way to go before the DM decides for us. Qralloq mentioned 2 days. To me that seems too long... I'd suggest one day, but he's the DM, so... :)

2. Assume that Sasha always takes 10 on trapfinding, and if necessary, Avaline can act as backup for finding/disabling (she's also trained in those).

3. Anyone can decide which way to go, and by default we all agree to follow without having to post agreement. If the DM knows there's something that requires a little more discussion, he can slow us down.

Good ideas, I am for all of them.

Dramasailor appears to be back and will take Bennekheb back from my clutches.
Feb 26, 2020 10:02 pm
Indeed! Once I catch up on where we are and what her deal was, lol.
Mar 10, 2020 12:15 am
So what do you four want to do? I think one of you wants to exit stage left after this bit. So for the remaining three, did you want to recruit more players when you get back to town and keep going? Or pull the plug on dungeon crawling by pbp?
Mar 10, 2020 12:27 am
It was fun and thanks for running it, but I am more a fan of a mix of everything.
Mar 10, 2020 12:47 am
I’m going to bow out. I really appreciate you running it, but I’ve come to realize that extended dungeon crawls aren’t my thing in PBP. Thanks Q and everyone else! I’m sure I’ll see you around GP!
Mar 11, 2020 3:39 am
All right, thanks everyone. I don't think dungeon crawls will prove to hold interest very long. Thanks for trying this with me.

I'll shut this down in a few days, to make sure that drama and gene see this.
Mar 11, 2020 3:23 pm
Thanks for the shot Qralloq! Definitely an adventure that seems like it'd be more "interesting" as a live game where the tension of the crawl can be felt. Hard to feel the intensity when a few minutes searching is spread over multiple weeks/months.
Mar 11, 2020 6:28 pm
Thanx for the run. If you get going again. Let me know.
