Firefly RPG?

I recently gifted myself the CRB for Firefly and am slogging through it (I find the way it's structured to be really, really weird). Has anyone else looked into it or a big enough Firefly fan that I should put this on my maybe list for a game (perhaps a one-shot at first) here?

I am interested. I have no clue how to play it. I heard it was maybe the fate system? Space cowboys are always fun.

Universe-wise, I suspect related/similar. System wise, dunno.. quick scan of the Serenity PDF and -- yes, it looks quite similar.

is this the Cortex System from Margret Weis? I have a fairly good idea of how that one works, but i haven't paid attention to who has the license now. I like the Cortex games.

The Firefly RPG uses the Cortex Plus system. I've run it a couple different times and it's a great game. There are some Fate elements to it, so you might recognize some stuff if you're a Fate player. I really like the way the game runs. It really does support the PCs being cool heroes.

Ok -- I've got to get Paranoia rolling or everyone dead before I pick up a new system I barely understand and try and run it. But I'll keep up my research and re-watch Serenity and Firefly to warm myself up!

I haven't lost the plot on this one -- I'm re-watching the Firefly series on plane fights for work (down to my last 3-4). I have to say, I've found how they organize the CRB really really confusing and difficult to follow, so getting a handle on the rule system has been more challenging than in some of the more straightforward formats I'm used to.

I get what they're doing in the CRB it just is hard for me personally to follow and build a foundation of understanding the rules.
